This is truly a five-star property in every sense.The house itself is incredibly well-maintained and immaculate. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and create such a peaceful, tropical atmosphere. We spent countless hours relaxing in the sparkling hot tub – a definite highlight for us!One noticeable upgrade we loved this year was the new bathroom in the bedroom off the dining room. It's modern and lovely. While the kitchen is a little compact, it is very well-equipped and completely workable for preparing meals during an extended stay.The views of the ocean from the living room are simply breathtaking and never get old – the perfect backdrop for morning coffee or evening relaxation.What truly sets this property apart, however, is the exceptional responsiveness and service of the property management team. They are incredibly attentive to any need. A perfect example: when we had a minor issue with the dryer, they didn't just fix it – they promptly **replaced the entire washer and dryer set! That level of proactive care is remarkable and made us feel incredibly well looked after.We cannot recommend this property highly enough. It offers the perfect blend of comfort, beauty, tranquility, and outstanding management. We feel so fortunate to have found this gem in Kailua and will absolutely be returning for a third year!

Bright, clean, and comfy! We loved this Bungalow on so many levels. (Yes, it is up a flight of stairs, a treehouse for certain!) The Banyan Tree is epic! This location was perfect for our daily beach visits and perfect sunrise views from the gorgeous, steps away, Kailua Beach! The Host made our visit here effortless and we would highly recommend staying here. We appreciated the relaxed local vibe experience, the nearby Thursday Farmers Market and the Saturday Outrigger Canoe Club races at Kailua Beach Park, and breakfast at the Over Easy, just to name a few. We look forward to our return to beautiful Kailua, Mahalo Vicki!

My daughter and I enjoyed a short stay at the oceanfront beach rental in Kailua, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Our family of five had a perfect Christmas at Hale Makai. Kailua is our happy place, and this property put us exactly where we wanted to be. Our routine was simple - coffee on the Lanai, walk on the beach, breakfast on the Lanai, back to the beach, etc.We have stayed in quite a few VRBOs, this was one of the best. The kitchen had everything we needed, the laundry was great, plenty of towels for both the house and the beach, beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear. Plenty of cards and games (look in the wicker chest) for the evenings. The house was large enough for people to spread out, with plenty of seating in the common areas to bring people together.The louvered windows made it easy to keep the tradewinds moving through the house, we only ran the A/C on a couple humid nights. There is a door between the bedrooms and living room so making coffee doesn't wake everyone.The house was quieter than we expected for being on a busy road, especially the back yard. Both the owner and on-island property manager were responsive and easy to work with. Check-in and check-out were a breeze.Overall a fantastic experience, we hope to stay here again.

Host was very friendly and checked in to make sure our stay was good and we had everything we needed. Cottage was quiet and an easy walk to beach, restaurants, and shops. Would stay again.

The cottage itself was spotless and felt very safe, which made our stay all the more relaxing. We also really appreciated the en-suite bathroom in each bedroom. The host was fantastic—always responsive and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The pool was a real highlight, too—clean, well-maintained, and perfect for cooling off after a day at the beach. If you're looking for a peaceful, worry-free getaway in a prime location, this is the place. We can't wait to return!

Great 3 bedroom - 2.5 bath + great outdoor shower and outdoor patio. One bedroom + bath has window unit AC that cools great. Breezy throughout rest of house, especially evenings and nights. 5 minute walk to beautiful Kailua beach. All kitchen amenities, washer - dryer, fans, beach toys, cruiser bikes, parking, fenced beautiful backyard.

Such a wonderful spot! From check in to checkout, this home base made for an extra special and easy trip. The studio feels spacious, well ventilated, and it was sparkling clean upon arrival. The host thought of everything you could need for beach outings or staying in. The bed is a great size and comfortable! The location is perfect, because you can walk to the beach, or walk in to town, so we barely needed the car if you like walking. There is great AC but you barely need it with the amazing cross breeze. The hosts were kind, organized, and very knowledgeable. Thank you for a beautiful visit!
