Our beach house is located on over an acre of land, just steps to the best white sand beach in Hawaii. One of the few properties that is actually a legal vacation rental so you can be assured that your rental will be available when you arrive! Be a part of Hawaii's history by staying at this registered historic landmark.

Pilipu Place offers the utmost relaxation and tranquility. Feel the white sand between your toes, bask in the warm Hawaiian sun, dive into the crystal clear aqua waters, and be glad you've made the best choice, Pilipu Place! Located steps from Kailua Beach, the best Beach in Hawaii! Our two story house offers Ocean and Mountain Views and the most luxury accommodations for the price! Escape to Kailua, a small beach town located just 20 minutes from Honolulu and Waikiki, truly away from it all!

Our home underwent a remodel inside and out in 2013. It features all new furniture and bedding, high speed wireless internet, two flat screen tvs, fine furnishings, koa wood, marble, crown molding, and antique fixtures. There is now an A/C unit in the master bedroom and screens on all bedroom windows.

There are two large lanais and, from the upstairs, there is an ocean and mountain view. The house is situated on an acre of land, allowing ample room to lay out in the Hawaiian sun or let the kids play. The yard has beautiful plumeria trees, red hibiscus bushes, orchids, and of course, a coconut grove. Nothing is split or shared in any way. You have the house to yourself. We do not rent or live in any part of the house as some owners do.

The house has one King bed, two queen beds, two twin beds and a pull out couch. It can comfortably sleep 8 in beds and two on the pullout couch. It also has two full bathrooms. The master bedroom (king bed and a twin) and one full bathroom are located upstairs where the kitchen, dining room and living room are. The other two bedrooms and second bathroom are located on the first floor. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has a queen and a twin. There is also a queen sized pullout couch in the living room.

The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook gourmet meals. It has a full sized oven, four burner cooktop, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and coffee maker. The kitchen has four barstools, perfect for hanging out while meals are prepared or for casual breakfasts. The dining room table seats six and there is also an outdoor patio set complete with tables and chairs with an ocean view. A full sized washer and dryer are located inside the house as well.

You must see our VIRTUAL TOUR (www.bestbeach-hi.com), click Virtual Tour, and click the 'Cottage Living Room' and 'Cottage Balcony' buttons. You may also view the yard and beach on this tour. Keep in mind, however, the house has undergone a complete renovation and has new furnishings since the pictures in the virtual tour were taken.

About Crystal Knysh

My parents own our lovely Kailua beach house. They purchased the property in approximately 1989 and my dad actually built the house in 1991. We referred to our vacation home as the guest house when I was growing up and living in the main house next door. I manage the property for my parents and am lucky enough to visit yearly now that I live in Arizona with my husband and toddler.

Crystal Knysh purchased this house in 1991

What makes this house unique

The main house next door is a registered Historic Residence, built in 1928. It originally was the Mark A. Robinson family beach house, the family who has owned the island of Ni'ihau since 1864. When my dad built the guest house he mirrored the architecture and design of the main house. Staying on this property is truly enjoying a piece of history.

Great spot! Ocean views. Close to beach.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 8 nights and the experience was wonderful. We had ocean views from the big porch out back and it was just a couple minutes walk down the sandy path to the beautiful Kailua beach. We had 8 people and everyone had a bed to sleep on. We would stay at this spot again and recommend it!

Charming!

  • 5 of 5

Most anyone would enjoy the location and home. There are some stairs to navigate as the main house is on the second story which offers a beautiful view of the ocean through the palm trees. You can hear the rustle of the leaves while relaxing in the gentle breeze.

The house is tucked away from any street noise and has a convenient access to the beautiful sandy beach of Kailua Bay. There is most everything you could ask for in Kailua except the crowds!!!

i love kailua! Highly recommend staying here.

Love love love

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here between Christmas and New Years. We had 4 adults and 2 children. This home was so lovely and relaxed. It is an old home and we loved the charm, beautiful woodwork and details plus the beautiful lanai and grounds. The space was perfect and the location was wonderful. We were 30 yards down a quiet sandy path to the most gorgeous beach. We explored Kailua, loved walking down the beach to get our morning coffee at the Kalapawai market, shaved ice at island snow, hiking to the pillbox. Our only recommendation is a a few more screens on the windows - not a problem in January but might be in summer! Also, a few more provisions would be nice. Overall though I would highly recommend Pilipu house.

Great Home, Excellent Location

  • 4 of 5

First, the property owner/manager was very professional, and all the technical details concerning the rental went smoothly. When we arrived, the home was clean and ready to go. This house is very close to the beach, maybe 100 steps. The deck/lanai on the upper level is great with a beautiful view of the ocean. Kitchen was a good size and appliances were clean and worked well. Living area was nice size and had a nice flat panel TV for winding down before bed. Bathrooms were large and hot water lasted a long time. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet and the closest neighbor was pleasant. I spoke briefly with her while taking the garbage out, but otherwise no intrusions from anyone.

The only real issues were lack of window screens on all but two windows, and there were quite a few small ants on the upper level. There were traps laid out, but didn't seem to help much. In all fairness though, I did not contact the owner regarding this. The windows screens would have been nice so we could have left the windows open at night. It got a little warm with them closed. We tried the first night, but after it got dark out and the lights were on in the house, a couple BIG bugs decided to join us. These babies had landing lights on them! So the ladies in our party said "close those windows".

Overall I would definitely recommend this rental. Being so close to the beach is the best. This was our second trip to Kailua and won't be our last for sure, and when we bring the whole family again, I will certainly rent this house.

Another Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this extraordinary property. I left a much more detailed review from our visit in 2009 and I give it the highest recommendation again in 2014. I just hope it isn't another five years before we stay there again! Thanks, Zach! We had a great time!

Great House

  • 4 of 5

This home is lovely and was so close to a great beach. The two things that kept this from being excellent for us was the lack of a BBQ and the lani needed to be updated.
