Fall in Love with Little Island House
Fall is a perfect time to be here. The Quiet side of Arcadia National Park is at your doorstep!!
Comfortable beds and nice variety of kitchen and bathroom supplies are there for your use. Propane grill works great !
Our 3rd time staying there and wouldn't dream of renting anywhere else! We will be back ❣️
Nearby Southwest Harbor has some great places to eat. Breakfast at Sips, Drydock for dinner to name a couple of places. Thurstons Lobster Pound across the Harbor in Bernard... Several places to get lobsters !! So much to see and close to everything. Beautiful drive to Bar Harbor and anywhere in Acadia. Location and views are worth it. There is a great sightseeing boat trip, Island Cruise, open in season...
better than exspected
The Little Island House
My husband I rented this property for a week and even though our weather was about 50/50 sunny/cloudy or rainy, what a spectacular view you have either way at this house. On that beautiful deck you see, you have grand views of the mountains at Acadia National Park and the rest of Bass Harbor and views towards other islands. Sunsets are amazing, and even on a cloudy day, it is fun to watch the fog roll in and out of the harbor all day long. The harbor is so quiet at night, you can hear a pin drop.
On the inside of the house, you also have a view of water from every room, including the bathroom. The house is bright and cheery and nicely decorated. It is also well stocked with everything you would need in the kitchen, toaster, coffee maker, lobster eating tools, even a crock pot!
The house is comfortably furnished with a queen size bed in the first bedroom, which is SUPER comfortable with a lightweight down comforter and soft linens. The towels provided in the bathroom are also a decent quality. There is adequate water pressure for a nice shower, and plenty of hot water.
The owner, Charlene, is vary accessible, by phone and text, and is often on the property. She is very helpful with anything you might need. It is worth noting that the property houses the office and origination point for the “Island Cruises, run by the family. The cruises leave a few times a day and people board via the pier that runs along side the deck. Mostly, you may not even notice. They just walk by to board and then leave, a few times a day. But the deck is not 100 percent private for reason,
Another point for anyone looking for an accessible location, this one is doable for a wheelchair. Charlene was nice enough to measure doorways, etc for me to be sure I would fit. It is doable with a small wheelchair, but it depends on your needs, chair size and how much assistance you have.
After a day in Acadia National Park, most guests love to just relax on the deck and watch the boats and wildlife in the harbor. Next to the house is a 350 ft. long dock you can walk down for great photo shots or just to be near the lobster boats tied up at their moorings. If the weather isn't up to par, spend the day in Bar Harbor or head up or down the coast to other working harbors.
