The Greenhouse is a contemporary open barn style space. Huge kitchen, living room and dining area downstairs. French doors open onto a lush lawn, gorgeous garden, sun-filled patio and expansive backyard with plenty of space for kids ro run and play. Upstairs, you'll find a large master bedroom suite, bathroom with sparkling white subway tiles and comfortable light-filled twin bedroom. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Cable TV. Free internet access and WIFI provided. Toasty warm on cool nights, and cool on warm days. Away from it all, yet close to all: town, hikes, lakes, beaches, waterfront. We absolutely loved our stay at The Greenhouse! It was such a peaceful spot to come back to between adventures in Acadia and Bar Harbor. Most places we wanted to visit were just a 20–30 minute scenic drive away, and we were only about 5–13 minutes from Bass Harbor and Acadia Mountain.Check-in was super easy, and the place was spotless. We didn’t need to reach out to the hosts, but it was nice knowing they were just a text or call away. You can tell they’ve really thought through all the little details that make a stay feel extra comfortable, especially the full kitchen with a coffee grinder, coffee maker, and a bunch of spices. It really felt like a home away from home.

This property is so convenient for all the best spots to hike, eat, site see, and/ or just relax! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, and the bedroom was clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed the peaceful patio.

The greenhouse was a great place to stay! It was clean, spacious and in a great location on the quiet side of Acadia National Park. Only about 30 minutes from Bar Harbor and less than 5 minutes from the Southwest Food smart, so anything we forgot to bring we were able to run quickly to the store to grab. Overall, my family & I would definitely stay again! We throughly enjoyed our week here and can’t wait to come back to explore Acadia again!

Adorable little house

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Owner was easy to communicate with. The house was as advertised. It's little rustic, and perfect for our family plus dogs. We spent the majority of our time on Mt. Desert Island out hiking, biking, & exploring. It was fantastic to have a private space to come home to! More than sufficient for our needs, reasonably priced, and would book again.

Great house, great location

This is a very nicely appointed, clean and comfortable cottage in a great location close to Southwest Harbor and all that Acadia offers. We had a great time. Elena was very responsive. We hope to be back next year.

Great place!

We really enjoyed staying in this house on the "quiet side." It was a great spot for launching each day to explore different parts of Acadia. Loved the welcome gifts, kitchen was super well stocked, and house had a comfy living room area. Beautiful location off the main roads, loved seeing the deer move through. We hope to come back!

The Green House

We enjoyed our stay. Lovely grounds, spacious interior, warm and comfortable. Kitchen equipment adequate but some items/appliances were in need of attention.

Quaint and Quiet

The Green House is perfect for a a stay in Southwest Harbor. It is close to town and has easy access to Acadia National Park. We enjoyed our patio for coffee in the morning and watching the deer stroll by. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans along with baking pans. Elena our host had a welcome basket with local coffee and homemade blueberry jam which we enjoyed very much. If you’re looking for nature and quiet this is the place for you.

Lovely Stay on the Quiet Side

We adored our stay in Southwest Harbor! This home is super clean and cozy. We love having happy hour on the patio and then going back out to stargaze at night. Don’t skip this one!

Perfect week

This was our first trip to Mt Desert Island and the Barn was the perfect home base for our family. We loved staying on the quiet side- it was a nice respite from the crowds, and Southwest Harbor had great options for places to eat. The house was cozy and clean, the kitchen well-stocked. We have two active young boys and they loved having a spacious yard to play in when we were not out exploring. We hope to return!

Cool spot for a vavation

Enjoyed our stay here. Clean and had everything we needed. My family really enjoyed how quiet it was around and the outside space. Location was really close to places to eat, hike, whatever but quiet enougb to be private. Host was responsive and easy to deal with as well. Great stay!

A late October haven

Visiting MDI a little later than we usually do in the fall, we were delighted that The Greenhouse could be our base of operation and haven. It is charmingly located in a meadow on the edge of the woods, with deer, turkeys, and other wildlife all around. The house itself is comfortable and fun, with everything that a visitor could need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the Scottis and their four-legged friend, Pip, and would recommend The Greenhouse to anyone visiting "the Quiet Side."

Acadia National Park visit

My husband and I were hiking in Acadia and were looking for a cute, quiet place to stay. This place was perfect. Elena had the sweetest gift basket waiting there to welcome us. She had a ton of great recommendations about the area that we used. The place had everything we could have needed. It was rainy while we were there so we did the two puzzles she had available which was very fun. There is also a cute patio area with chairs where I sat and read my book and enjoyed the sunshine. I would definitely stay here again.

Barn style retreat in Southwest Harbor

The Greenhouse is a spacious, sunny, two story building with an open floor plan downstairs (kitchen, dining area, living area) and two bedrooms/ bathroom upstairs. The larger sun filled bedroom is also a great place to hang out, with large windows, skylights, and comfortable furniture. As well, the outdoor patio and expansive yard, easily accessible through French doors, offer a great place to relax, play or grill your dinner. The kitchen cabinets are open (no doors) and make it easy to find all the well appointed cooking needs. The location is very quiet and private, yet very close to town. The gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed watching the many hummingbirds. When we were not out exploring all the area has to offer, we really enjoyed just hanging out here at the Greenhouse. We would definitely return here for another stay.

Great home ina great location

Great place to stay when visiting the ‘Quiet Side’ of Acadia National Park. Convenient to all hiking trails on this side of the Park. Nice outdoor space with beautiful gardens. House was comfortable and welcoming.

Wonderful stay

We have stayed in many VRBOs and this was by far our favorite. We went in August and I was concerned about no AC, odly we did not miss it at all. As a trained chef I was shocked with the kitchen supplies. I had everything I needed including various seasonings. The location was perfect, quiet and secluded area. The owners special details were also amazing. There was a book library in the shelves and I found a book to read during our stay. Lots of interesting boardgames too.

Wonderful getaway

Its amazing to arrive at your home away from home and discover it's even better than you expected. The beautiful yard and private location on the "quiet side" of the island are perfect when you want to escape the crowds.

Wonderful Family Stay!

We traveled from VA with our 2 kids and pup and stayed a week in this cozy and very well- equipped home. The garden is just beautiful and the location on the quiet side is private but also still very close to so many hikes and the little village of Southwest Harbor. We hope to be back!

Beautiful stay - home away from home

We stayed for a week, perfect home base to explore Acadia to our hearts content! We loved the Greenhouse, it was very clean and comfortable and very well equipped. We loved the thoughtful design of the space, we felt we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We packed food and supplies and cooked most meals (in well equipped kitchen) in our cozy house. We explored Acadia daily, most trails took approx 20ish minutes from the greenhouse. We enjoyed dinner at close by Beal’s and one night and Abel’s. We really loved picking up lobster meat and huge shrimp at Parson’s and made our own lobster rolls at home, eating in the dining area or the outdoor space ! We travelled with our two adults sons, bedrooms were comfortable, we managed with one bathroom. We noticed an extra rollaway twin and a small chaise in the primary bedroom- you could fit additional kids in the primary if you needed to. Overall experience was a comfortable stay, we would recommend the Greenhouse if you are planning to explore Acadia and Bar Harbor!

Great Stay!!

This place was perfect for the two of us, even though it had an extra bedroom with 2 twin beds. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals at home. Outdoor patio was great to enjoy a glass of wine after hiking all day! Great location on the quieter side of the island close to the center of the town of southwest harbor. Would stay here again for sure!!

Great launch point for a wonderful Acadia week

The Greenhouse is a great homebase for anyone spending a week in Acadia. Cute open concept thanks 4 min away from some great hikes- we loved our week in Ellen’s cabin on the quiet side of the park.
