Super Family Rendezvous

  • 5 of 5

We needed to escape the smoke in Ashland, Or and our whole gang was due in for the weekend. By Friday evening, everyone had assembled in our lovely house, inside and outside. Great for cooking together, adventuring together and just being a lucky family. Thanks, John Gibbs, for all your assistance and attention. McCloud has gone down in the annals of our family history.

Overall it was a good stay

  • 3 of 5

Kitchen and all appliances was very good. But Wifi was keep disconnecting. Not having A/C is a big minus especially when you had temperature around 100. But over all it was a good stay.

Great property with great amenities and nice location

  • 5 of 5

This is a nice little home on a nice quite street. It is quite comfortable for our 3 families with good living space, fully stocked kitchen and private backyard. All the bath rooms looks renovated. It is next to a children's park that has fabulous views of Mt. Shasta. The Bedroom on the second floor which could get warm in summer is airconditioned.

McCloud is also quite central to all the places we wanted to visit - 15 min away from Mt. Shasta and lake Siskyou, McCloud falls and also close to Barney falls.

All in all a great vacation home which our family and friends enjoyed very much.

So relaxing and inviting!

  • 5 of 5

This is so Enjoyable! ... was the chant from my guests, when we stayed at McCloud Vacation Home.

McCloud is a relaxing, inviting small community, which takes care of our "outside needs", like grocer, restaurants and a super Yummy coffee shop. We would sit in the house and view the majesty of Mt. Shasta, as we were falling asleep. We would sit in the yard and embrace the stars and the mountain. The house is spacious and beautiful, with gleaming natural wood and a fully equipped kitchen.

John Gibbs is a gracious owner, who maintains the house beautifully... clean, well furnished and super inviting. I have brought a group there on retreat... with great success.

Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

After spending a week at the McCloud Vacation Home this summer, I find myself trying to figure out when my family & I can return. This classic mill house has been thoughtfully remodeled with many beautiful and insightful touches. Our party of seven was joined at the last minute by two additional overnight guests. The home easily accommodated everyone. John, the owner, went beyond my expectations answering questions about his home, the area and a multitude of activities giving me specific lists of hiking trails and leading me to Charlie, the owner of McCloud Outdoors. We loved our hikes along the McCloud River Trail, at Castle Crags and Castle Lake. Our favorite day was spent canoeing/kayaking on Lake McCloud where we paddled to the original Hearst Castle. As we neared the castle the water turned a crystal-clear, Caribbean blue just before the castle appeared dramatically around the next bend. We were greeted along the way by a bald eagle, several osprey and many sizeable trout. The evening was topped off with delicious ribs grilled at the house and finally by three perfect shooting stars viewed from the picnic table in the backyard.
