About Louise Soucy
Our family home is right next door. We are year-round residents of Southwest Harbor. Our children attend the local schools and we are deeply involved in many aspects of our community.
Louise Soucy purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Louise Soucy chose Southwest Harbor
Easy access to all of MDI from the cottage. Bar Harbor is a 15 minute drive, the summit of Cadillac Mountain is 13 miles, and the pleasure of the quiet village of Southwest Harbor is a few minutes' walk away.

Great location and perfect for a family of 4
We loved our little cottage in Southwest Harbor! It was perfect for a family of 4. It was very spacious, very comfortable, and very clean. We loved all the little extras and all the love and attention that has been clearly added to this home away from home. It made us just a little less homesick. Thanks again!
The cottage was perfect. Very clean and convenient.
Our hosts, Louise and Jim were so nice and helpful. The cottage was clean and quaint. We had a deer that frequented the property and the purple lupine was in full bloom adding to the overall charm of the place. Fresh eggs next door was a plus. Felt very private and cozy. There were three in our party and the cottage felt nice and roomy for the three of us. Walking distance to downtown Southwest Harbor. Mid June a shuttle is available to take travelers around the Island and to Acadia National Park. Good fresh Lobster all over the place. Highly recommend this place. If I ever go back to that area I would stay here again.
Lovely quiet cottage
This is the second time we have stayed in the cottage . We are two 70 year olds from UK & the cottage is perfect for our needs - about 3/4 mile from Southwest Harbor restaurants etc & about 10 -15 minute drive from Acadia and Bar Harbor . Louise & Jim are great hosts without being intrusive . Will certainly return .
Perfect cottage for our vacation
We were so happy with our stay in Southwest Harbor. Our main reason for our trip was to see our grandson who is in the USCG and stationed there. The cottage was perfect, very convenient to everything. It was very spacious and clean. Equipped with everything we needed
Great location for exploring Acadia.
We have stayed in this cottage for a week in the fall for the last five years. The cottage is perfect for us because we cook in and bring our dog. Louise and Jim are perfect hosts. We look forward to next year.
Economical, great location, clean
SW Harbor is our favorite part of this area; this was our 8th trip. House is located on a fairly busy street but great during season because of bus route. Parking at the park lots can be tricky (& frustrating) so using the bus system is key.
Location is wonderful for a quick drive to get groceries, eat dinner (mussels at the Dry Dock are fab!) & have drinks.
Kitchen is equipped well enough with a lobster pot & other basics. If you want to try cooking your own Lobstah, catch Linda at the Under the Dogwood Tree. She has a great store and also sells the fresh guys really cheap!
There is a propane grill & utensils too!
Farmers market is open throughout the season in Bar Harbor, go there if you are around on Sundays for fresh meats and specialty items, good vegies.
You can hear the street traffic during the day but island is quiet by sundown. Fresh eggs are available right next door! If the windows are up in the house, you can even hear the rooster!
Place is spacious for 2 people, we used the two twin beds to lay all of our "Stuff" out and get organized for the days hiking. The washer & dryer are a plus, so if you are flying you can pack lighter.
If you are looking for privacy, this space is not ideal.
Owners live on one side, a fence is your view on the other. The front porch faces the highway and the "master" bedroom has a view of the old wooden shed. Again, this space is convenient to everything and your view is the entire island.
Wifi worked fine, cable was nice...ESPN!!!! the tele is old but functional...if you are a huge sports fan, I suggest driving less than a mile to the sports bar in town, Joey is the owner, if you catch him there it's an added treat!
The liquor store just a block away has a good wine selection and amazing beer selection.
If you are a food snob, head to Sawyer's...you will pay extra but totally worth it...you ARE on vacation!
Lastly, this place is CLEAN and décor is minimal, which we appreciated since there is so much "Northwoods" flair at many places.
We enjoyed our stay very much & hope that this spot will be available to us when we visit again.
Located on the quite side of Mount Desert Island. Minutes from Acadia National Park, hiking, biking and swimming. Ten-minute walk to the inner harbor.
