Charming cottage w/ loft on 3 acres of secluded marsh and 7 minute walk to beach

This small but well-designed modern cottage is family-owned and nestled on 3 acres of private marshland with a short 7 minute walk to the white sands, tide pools and islands of Goose Rocks Beach ("GRB"). An ideal indoor/outdoor retreat with both seclusion and easy walking access to the local general store for morning coffee or picnic supplies, and The Tides Beach Club for craft cocktails and fine dining, and the GRB Community Center with day and tennis camps during the summer (and movie nights on Wednesdays). Goose Rocks Dairy - with inarguably the best homemade ice cream in all of New England - is a short 2 minute drive away, and the over-water restaurants of charming Cape Porpoise just a couple of miles beyond that. Iconic Kennebunkport is all of a 10 minute drive from the cottage.

The downstairs hosts the master bedroom with a queen bed and glass sliding doors to the covered porch overlooking the lush marsh, a small farmhouse kitchen, bathroom with modern shower, and a living and dining room with a 20' high ceiling and 2 wall-sized windows with stunning mile-long views of the marsh and its wildlife (including loons, geese, ducks, chipmunks and even a rare moose!). Bed linens, blankets, pillows, bath and beach towels are included. Waxed hardwood floors, whitewashed shiplap interior siding and poured concrete kitchen countertops complete the calming Scandinavian design. Air conditioning and heating make the cottage the ideal retreat during all seasons.

Access the kids' loft via a sliding library ladder to discover 3 built-in twin beds, 4 windows looking out to the marsh and plenty of reading and play space (not suitable for children under 5). The cottage is well-stocked with family games, puzzles, books and DVD's. A nice-sized television, cable programming and Wi-Fi keep you entertained and connected.

The property features a covered porch, a large deck overlooking the marsh and a second deck on the marsh itself, complete with Adirondack chairs and fire pit, perfect for reading, sunning and s'mores. Kayaks can be launched from the marsh deck for a serene and easy trip to the beach and back. The large round swing over the marsh is ideal for lazy afternoons.

Great location, charming and cozy interior, annd thoughtful outdoor spaces that encouraged relaxing, unplugging, and socializing. We especially loved the Solo Stove, grilling, and the platform in the marsh to enjoy a picnic on, and to just be. We are a family of three so the space was plenty big enough for us, and being able to sleep with the windows open, while still enjoying the privacy of the accommodations, was so special.

Our stay was phenomenal. The place was just as advertised. Our boys (13 and 8) loved the loft to hang out and to sleep. The land surrounding the property was very pretty. It was an easy walk to the beach. The host was kind and responsive. We would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I had a fantastic time staying in Sean's cottage. The word cozy was used many times over the four day stay. Everything was exactly as described and Sean communicated promptly. The view was amazing watching the deer and turkeys and various waterfowl. The viewing highlight was a family of four river otters who decided to play in the creek right outside the window! It was even fun using the charcoal grill brought back childhood memories. If you are looking for a quiet cozy place to get away from all the chaos of life I would highly recommend this rental.

The house is in a great location and was perfect for our family of three, though there were two extra twin beds in the loft that we didn’t even use so a larger family may enjoy it as well. The view from the back porch is beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset. The walk to the beach is very easy if you don’t have a lot to haul, and the two beach chairs they have at the house are nice and light. Highly recommend checking out Cape Pier Chowder House and Ultramar which are only a few minutes from the house. I didn’t see a lot about those spots in my research before the trip but they were our favorites!

We had a wonderful stay last week! My husband and daughter (7 years old) stayed for 5 nights. The loft space was perfect for her. She loved spending time up there playing and was able to navigate the ladder easily without worry. The kitchen was well equipped. We grilled one evening on the back deck. Beautiful views of the marsh at sunset. Enjoyed s’mores by the fire pit many times. Was approx 7-8min walk to Goose Rocks Beach. We stopped at the general store daily for snacks and iced coffees. The beach is quiet and very kid friendly. Kennebunkport is a 10min drive. House has a split AC unit which was much appreciated on warm evenings. My daughter LOVED the boogie board that was available for use at the house. Sean- the owner was quick and responsive with all of our questions. We would love to return next summer.
