Lovely quiet hideaway - perfect way to get away from it all

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time staying at ‘Hale Noa’ in Hana. Only a short walk from a great lava tube experience and several street side vendors only a short drive away for great local fruit and coffee in the mornings. The town of Hana actually has two well stocked general stores and a couple of good (but slightly pricier than usual) restaurants. Because of this we largely ate at home and it helped to make us feel like we were actually living in Hana rather than just visiting. The garden is enormous and although there weren’t many fruits available at the time, being able to grab and eat your own avocados and tangelicos from the garden is such a lovely idea. If I had to find any issue with the house it would only be that, being an older house it is in need of a little TLC, things inside like the furniture, television, appliances, although clean and functioning, are starting to get a bit tired and dated and outside, the screen doors are warped and do not prevent all of the geckos and mosquitos from finding their way in but some may consider this part of the rustic charm of the place. This is still only a minor gripe, and other things like the powerful air con and the extra comfortable beds more than make up for it. They also provide beachware and children’s toys which a family would really appreciate. One tip, bring ear plugs and have them on stand by as the Geckos can be loud at night. The mosquitos are especially viscious in this area so maybe pack a big bottle of deet too..!

Perfect setting in a wonderful place - great base to really absorb Hana

So happy we spent 2 nights here. Literally called during our stay and tried to book longer. Make sure to go out in the yard at night and look at the night sky. It was special. Chrissy (property manager) was extremely helpful during our stay.

We loved it, would come back again, so much to do in Hana, a different experience from the Lahaina side of the island, maybe better.

Clean, comfortable, and quiet home on large property in the foothills of Hana!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, one-year-old daughter, and I stayed in this classy little home while in Maui and loved it! It's close to Hana, about a 10-minute drive. The quiet, secluded area makes staying on this side of the island something special, quiet and relaxing.

Preload your GPS with directions as you won’t get cell service between Paia and Hana. Take a left-hand turn about 3.5 miles before Hana, the entry is about a quarter mile down the paved street on the left. The entry to the property is through a mini bamboo forest, but you can't miss it as the “Hale Noa” rental sign is prominently placed just off the street entrance.

The home is centrally located on a large piece of well-maintained land surrounded by fruit trees and grass. The owner offers their fruit for picking, and we definitely took advantage of the opportunity to taste some fresh Hawaiian fruit! We picked: avocado, starfruit, tangelos, and coconuts.

The house is a single-level bungalow on a slab. It's clean and tastefully furnished. The beds are very comfortable and the air-conditioning worked great, quickly cooling off the house at night.

The parking is a little odd as it places you on the opposite side of the house from the entry, so for moving bags and baby in and out it was a little inconvenient, but not too big of a deal. You can cut through on the side porch or around the back, on the grass.

The wraparound porch is charming, and if we were at the house more during the day we would have loved to relax out there and listen to the birds and/or the rain, very soothing. We will definitely try to book this again when we’re in Hana next!

Perfect end to our Maui visit

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have picked a better place. This home is in a great location (a few minutes drive from Waianapanapa). The home is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped property and comes equip with everything you may need. We enjoyed fresh fruit from the trees, playing bocce ball, and relaxing on the lanai. Great get away place!
