About Russ Anger

A resident of Sonoma County in the heart of the Russian River Wine Valley. Although I have a big love for world travel, I love the Northern California Coast in particular and all it has to offer. I love to kayak, fish, forage seaweed, explore the shores for treasures and sometimes just hide away in a sandy cove with a book and a cold beer.

Russ Anger purchased this house in 2013

Why Russ Anger chose Jenner

It is rare to find a property like this along the water. So when the chance presented itself I jumped. It was the right decision. Although I don't get to spend as much time there as I would like, I get so much positive feedback from the guests experience. Beautiful area...so much nature and fun things to see and find as you hike. I love to explore! The kayaking on timber cove is great! The sparsely populated area is always a welcomed get away. I really enjoy being on the beach, and in this area you can find great little sandy beaches, and have them all to yourself! For years I drove up to Timber Cove area either for the day or to camp overnight.

What makes this house unique

Next to the ocean, many state parks nearby including historic Fort Ross, beaches and wineries. Two restaurants close by, and many more if you want to explore Highway 1.

Fort Ross State Historic Park...approximately two miles south. Over 3,000 acres that includes a wonderful visitor's center with interpretive exhibits, a museum bookstore, heirloom gardens, hiking trails, sheltered Sandy Cove Beach, and great ocean views.

Salt Point State Park...approximately 4 miles to our north...over 6,000 acres, that includes one of California's first underwater parks, and also hosts a friendly visitor's center offering plant identification walks and activities for children. See the sandstone that played a vital role in the construction of San Francisco in the 1800s. The park has more than 20 miles of hiking and equestrian trails.

Kruse Rhododendron State Natural Reserve: Adjoins Salt Point State Park with 3 miles of pristine hiking trails. Beginning in late April the reserve comes to life as the beautiful pink Rhododendron blossoms appear throughout the redwood forest.

Whale Watching: The excitement is contagious during whale season. Join others who head west to view the annual whale migration. Grey Whales migrate south between November and January to birth, and return with their new calves between February and April. Look for the distinctive big blow, followed by the little blow of the young calf.

Fishing and Diving: A myriad of fish species live in our coastal waters. This is a very good spot for surf, spear, and rod & reel fishing. Abalone aficionados come out in full force April 1st when the season opens. For more information on fishing and diving regulations, contact the Department of Fish and Game @ www.dfg.ca.gov

Mushroom Foraging: The North Coast is well known for its seasonal, wild mushroom hunting. Intrepid foragers arrive in the area a few weeks after the first rains in late fall, as the area literally comes alive with an abundance of delicious wild

Notes:
Certificate #1097N This is a remote house on the rugged California coast. Although a great get away - electricity can occasionally go out, particular during storms. When this this happens, the landline does not work and the water pump does not pump water. Lanterns and flashlights are available. Generally if the electric goes out, it is back up and running within a few hours. WARNING: Hospital is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. If you require close contact to hospital services and must have contact to Doctor/Health care etc. you might consider a vacation rental closer to services.

Beautiful home, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a few days here and we loved it. We spent quite a bit of time at Salt Point State Park, stunning coast line and we enjoyed seeing the seals sunning themselves on the rocks. I enjoyed running the trails at the park in the mornings.

The home is beautiful and decorated nicely.

The first night I neglected to turn on the heat, we woke up to a pretty chilly house. I didnt make that mistake again!

Communication was quick and prompt, Pam and Russ were great to work with. The house was clean and well maintained.

Finding the entrance was a bit of trick. we passed it few times before we got it.

We use Sprint as a mobile carrier, they have ZERO service in the area. Bummer but I guess thats what disconnecting is all about.

If we are back in the area again, I will most certainly stay here again.

Home with a View, Magical place

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house for so many reasons! The WINDOWS in every room allowed us to enjoy the flowers and trees and sunsets and ocean without having to leave the house! But you must EXPLORE the Pacific Coast, north and south! Timber Cove is wonderfully located near more beaches and rivers and trails and woods than we could EXPLORE in 2 weeks! The bed and luxury linens are fabulous and the decor has so many special touches. The kitchen was open and well stocked; watch the sky and ocean while you cook:) and listen to surround sound stereo. The wood stove, the large back yard, the front deck with a hot tub, and the 2 full baths added to such a lovely and fun setting. The owner is the consummate host and thoughtful and a phone call away. Don't miss the whales, sea lions and sea otters, deer and wild turkeys. This is a true find; a magical home base for a Coastal Adventure.

Beautiful Beachy House

  • 5 of 5

We had a great 3 days on the Sonoma Coast. The house was perfect for 3 couples to share-- comfortable beds & remodeled bathrooms with a wonderful shower in the master. The hot tub was perfect after our enjoyable day at the beach at Gualala State Park, and after our day hiking to the Pygmy Forest on the Plantation Trail on the ridge above Timber Cove.

The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a couple of scrumptious dinners, and the wood-stove and baseboard heater kept the livingroom toasty warm. We had a great time and eagerly await another getaway there!

The Perfect Home for Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I usually stay in Bodega but wanted to try somewhere new this year. After searching rentals that allow dogs we found Seacrest at Timber Cove. After arriving, we couldn't have been happier. The home is warm and inviting with an open floor plan, and the owner Russ is very nice and easy to communicate with. He left us a beautiful Christmas tree and wreath which was really special when you spend Christmas away from home. The master bedroom had a very comfortable bed and plenty of room. The outside hot tub provided a nice view of the ocean and many gorgeous sunsets. We were also within walking distance of a small market and restaurant as well as hiking trails for the dogs. We had a great week and look forward to returning!
