Why Pamela Steffen chose Sonoma County

Beautiful area...so much nature and fun things to see and find as you hike. I love to explore! The kayaking on timber cove is great! The sparsely populated area is always a welcomed get away for me. I really enjoy being on the beach, and in this area you can find great little sandy beaches, and have them all to yourself! For years I drove up to Timber Cove area either for the day or to camp overnight.

What makes this house unique

Next to the ocean, many state parks nearby including historic Fort Ross, beaches and wineries. Two restaurants close by, and many more if you want to explore Highway 1.

Notes:
Certificate #1097N This is a remote house on the rugged California coast. Although a great get away - electricity can occasionally go out, particular during storms. When this this happens, the landline does not work and the water pump does not pump water. Lanterns and flashlights are available. Generally if the electric goes out, it is back up and running within a few hours. WARNING: Hospital is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. If you require close contact to hospital services and must have contact to Doctor/Health care etc. you might consider a vacation rental closer to services.

Beautiful home, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a few days here and we loved it. We spent quite a bit of time at Salt Point State Park, stunning coast line and we enjoyed seeing the seals sunning themselves on the rocks. I enjoyed running the trails at the park in the mornings.

The home is beautiful and decorated nicely.

The first night I neglected to turn on the heat, we woke up to a pretty chilly house. I didnt make that mistake again!

Communication was quick and prompt, Pam and Russ were great to work with. The house was clean and well maintained.

Finding the entrance was a bit of trick. we passed it few times before we got it.

We use Sprint as a mobile carrier, they have ZERO service in the area. Bummer but I guess thats what disconnecting is all about.

If we are back in the area again, I will most certainly stay here again.

Amazing location-Great House!

  • 5 of 5

House is top notch...clean, comfortable and well appointed. Great ocean view from living room and hot tub deck. The stars at night were incredible. Enjoyed some kayaking and fishing. Lots to do if you enjoy exploring and being in nature. Found a really cool little private beach! This part of the coast has always been a favorite place to visit.

Amazing Beach Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Traveled up the coast from SF for a girl's weekend. The house is adorable and served our needs perfectly! Amazing views of the ocean from most of the house, deck, and hot tub. In less than a minute, you're standing on cliffs overlooking a gorgeous cove with deals and birds. We could hear seals from the house as well. The house was clean and tidy and had modern updates and everything you needed. We constantly found ourselves wishing we had booked a longer stay. We had great communication with the property management as well. Only note is that there really is no cell service up there, but they provide WiFi, so just be aware of that if you need it. Otherwise it's an amazing place to disconnect! Can't wait to book this house again!

Comfy nesting place on the ocean bluffs

  • 5 of 5

Spacious and comfortable, perfectly decorated for the coastal environment. It was even nice in the rain in November. We dined at the recently-reopened Timber Cove resort, a five minute drive away.

Owner's Response: Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Sometimes being up there in the rain or a big storm with a fire going is the best!!

Excellent location for a getaway

  • 4 of 5

If you want a remote relaxing getaway, you should consider this property. It was just what we needed. However, as we were the first visitors to stay for a full two weeks, we noticed a few things that weren't working or that hadn't been disclosed to us before we rented the place. The DVD didn't work properly, the internet was satellite only so there were no real possibilities for streaming video, and the telephone was tied to the satellite service which meant that when the power went out - which it did for half a day - there was no possibility of calling any emergency medical service had we needed it. We let the owner know about these as possible areas of improvement for future guests and suggested that the owner might want to switch to DSL for the internet and a regular phone line, which he told us he was going to do. The DVD situation was fixed immediately and the owner's colleagues were very helpful to us indeed in untangling a veritable bird's nest of wiring. Had we known about the internet situation ahead of time we'd have brought our own DVDs and viewed them. The house's electrical system in the kitchen needs some attention because you can't use the microwave and a coffee maker or toaster at the same time. The stove and oven worked very well indeed.

We wish the windows had fly screens on them! We experienced a lot of gnats inside the house during the evening time.

The washing machines in the garage were excellent. As we had our dog with us we got both wet and muddy at times on our walks with him so it was great that we could do a mid-stay laundry--definitely home away from home. And, the master bedroom shower was devine.

From the deck on the north side of the house, we could overlook the bay and were able to see - with binoculars - whales with calfs migrating - an amazing sight.

This area of Sonoma is a haven for deer ticks and our dog got some. We had to drive over to Sebastopol to get them removed. Just be aware that the long grasses opposite the house are where these critters like to hang out.

If some of the quirks we discovered were disclosed beforehand, we'd have been better prepared for a two week stay and would have given this property a 5-star rating. Now that you know and/or they've been fixed, you should have a great stay.

Owner's Response: Glad to hear Seacrest was exactly what you needed. We take pride in delivering a good experience! : -) Yes, in the past we had satellite. Good for internet computer use, but movie streaming was limited. GREAT NEWS! A new high speed internet service has arrived in area, unlimited data and movie streaming! The phone is not satellite actually, it is a landline. The older landline phones pull power through phone lines and can work without electricity, wireless phones typically are powered by electricity and connect to the phones outlet. They will not work without electricity. I am going to look for an “old fashioned” phone to keep at the house for emergencies should a power outage occur. Power has gone out on occasion during the time we have owned the house. Usually not more than a few hours. Yes, I hear the property manager ran you over a new DVD player. Funny, the old DVD worked fine when we tested later. Not sure what happened, but our apology. The entire electronic system has been upgraded since your stay to assure no further issues.

Amazing, Peaceful and Homey

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from spending four nights here. I would have been content with staying here and never adventuring out. I saw a fox, several deer, a covey of quail every morning, lots of hummingbirds. The views of the ocean were breathtaking and better than I had expected. You could hear the sound of the ocean even with the windows closed. So peaceful and relaxing. The home had everything we needed and was very clean. All the furnishings were comfortable and decor was exquisite. Loved the shower in the master bedroom. I especially loved all the landscaping and will definitely be using some of the shrubs in my landscaping here in Texas. When requesting the reservation, Pam called me immediately to make sure the area where the house was located met my vacation needs. The booking was immediate and pain free. We got an extra bonus by getting to meet the owner Russ on our last day. It was awesome to hear more details about the house and area. All was a great experience and would definitely stay here again. Pam and Russ, thank you so much!

Owner's Response: We are glad you had such a great time and that you enjoyed the house so much. Great getting to meet the both of you. I don't always get to meet the guests, let alone sit down a bit and chat, so that was fun. You are welcome back anytime!! You were awesome guests!!
