The host requires you complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items and take out the trash
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Please place used bed sheets and pillowcases in the laundry room hamper and used towels inside the washer. Please leave comforters, shams, or duvet covers on the beds.
Bag trash should be placed inside trash cans located inside the outdoor shed. The handy man will pick up once a week.
October- March please set thermostat to Heat 68 degrees April- September please set thermostat to Cool 74 degrees
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

This was the most beautiful place to stay! We were immediately greeted with snacks, waters, and toys for our dog. The beds were so so comfortable and the view from the rooms/living room was amazing. All in all this was an amazing stay and one of the cleanest homes we have stayed in. Jean was extremely responsive and super sweet!

Beautiful property and the perfect size for our family of 4 (11yr old and 14yr old). Gorgeous views of the BR mountains. It’s a hike up the mountain and partially unpaved the last qtr mile, 4 wheel drive recommended especially with variable weather. We have high expectations and are very particular with rentals, and we would stay here again.

This property is very very nice. It was well stocked and there was excellent attention to detail not seen in other rentals. Beds and bedding were great! Kitchen was in like new condition along with the spotless appliances. The road up to the house is a little challenging if you are not used to driving one lane dirt roads in the mountains, but we would definitely stay here again. The views from the front deck are amazing.

We absolutely loved our stay at Grouse House and can’t recommend this place enough! The house was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and felt welcoming right away. The high-elevation location is amazing, it was very private, quiet, and has gorgeous mountain views. Access was easy even with a few inches of fresh snow that fell during our stay. There were so many thoughtful little touches, like coffee pods for the coffee machine, toys and bowls for our dog, and a snow shovel and de-icer ready to go. The wood-burning fireplace made the house extra cozy. The brand-new hot tub was very enjoyable, and it stayed hot even in the single digits. Sitting in the hot tub while it snowed and watching deer walk by was a highlight of the trip.Another great bonus is the parking for Big Bald is nearby, making it easy to hike to the top of the mountain with beautiful 360-degree views. The kitchen was very well stocked, and everything in the house was clearly well cared for.Jean was an excellent host, she was super responsive and accommodating. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic mountain getaway!

This property is exceptional. We came to enjoy a quiet Thanksgiving in the mountains. As a natural planner I loaded my car with all things Thanksgiving never assuming that the kitchen would be completely stocked and loaded. The attention to detail was amazing. Not only was there a turkey pan there was a baster as well as a cheesecloth. The table was set beautifully when we arrived. Jean even left us a few snacks and goodies. The morning sunrises and evening sunsets were gorgeous. The hike to Big Bald was amazing. If you don't know you can only access Big Bald through Wolf Laurel or you will be hiking 13 miles. This homes gives you a short uphill trail climb that my kids were able to do.The beds were some of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. There were throw blankets (comfy big ones) all over the house. We had the fireplace going almost the whole time we were in the house. Soaking in the hot tub with a glass of wine at the end of the day with those views was incredible. If you are looking for a cozy getaway with literally everything you'll ever need this is the place.
