About Julie Mooring

Two brothers and their wives. One from the San Antonio, TX area and one from Rome, GA.

Julie Mooring purchased this house in 2013

Why Julie Mooring chose St. George Island

Christmas of 2012, we spent time on St. George. After just a couple of days, we knew we wanted to own there. Searching tirelessly with a realtor, when we walked in this house, we immediately knew it was the one for us. It felt like home!

One of the couples had owned a home on another barrier island for 10 years and knew there was nothing to compare with the pristine beaches, fabulous shells, birds, stars, wildlife, water sports, and the people.

Now that we have young grandchildren, we realized that we wanted to be somewhere that is more accessible and with medical care readily available. St. George and the Plantation were exactly what we wanted.

What makes this house unique

The natural beauty of the lush tropical landscaping and no crowds drew us here.

We are coming back for the 3rd time!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough great things about this home. Julie is wonderful to work with. She has answered my questions in a timely fashion. The house is clean and well stocked for cooking. The balconies are so nice to enjoy in the evenings or for a quiet breakfast. I can't think of any negative thing.

We have used their beach cart every time. Makes it easy to get things down to the beach on the nice little path. You are close enough but far enough to enjoy the beach.

We love going in to the Blue Parrot and pizza place. It is busy...so be prepared to order early!

We have gone in to Apalachicola to the little shops on a cloudy day. There are nice places to eat there, too.

We cannot wait to return this June. I would recommend this house to rent to any one. We come as a group of teachers getting away from it all. I hope one day to bring my family and grand children to this house!

Thanks so much, Julie!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much! You and your friends are always a pleasure to have as guests! You are even trying a different month. The island has a new restaurant this year. It's called Paddy's and has become a favorite place for the locals to eat oysters. If you are there for the full moon, be sure to climb the lighthouse! It's always fun but with a full moon it is amazing! We have just resurfaced the pool and deck, have new flooring, new air conditioning, and doors on both of the screened porches. We are always trying to make it better. I hope y'all will have a fabulous time and we would love to have your families anytime!

Lovely beach home! Quiet beach; great pool & very clean!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay on St George Island at an Island Mooring. The island is nice & uncrowded as are the beaches! We loved having the option of the pool at the house. It's a nice size & we very much appreciated being able to use the owners beach & pool toys! I would recommend bug spray like the owners suggest as in the evening it is needed. The house itself is a comfortable size & was clean & well taken care of. Julie was a dream to work with & extremely helpful & accomodating. Overall we were extremely satisfied with our stay!

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed your time on our island. It is so nice to be away from crowds and have real family time. Since you left we have replaced the screened doors with hand made Brazilian walnut ones and are having the boardwalk to the pool redone tomorrow. Having just had the pool and deck resurfaced, we are ready for a wonderful year. I hope you and your family will come again. Take care, Julie

Great for a couples getaway.

  • 5 of 5

The house has a near perfect floor plan for several couples to share. Three bedrooms have king beds and en suite bathrooms. One is up and two are down at opposite ends of the hallway. So, there is plenty of privacy. The house is well furnished and the kitchen is well equipped for those who like to prepare the great local seafood at home. It's a very short and pleasant walk to the beach. We would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you! I really like that each bedroom opens to a screened porch. The twin beds in the fourth bedroom can be converted to another king. There is always the queen sleeper too. We do hope that you will come again anytime! Take care!

Will be our home away from!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed for 2 weeks and did not want to leave. We had ages ranging from 70 to 18 months and everyone was comfortable with their own personal space and privacy. The open floor plan allowed the 10 of us to all get together and eat in one space , visit, watch TV or movies , and play games , or just sit on the wonderful screened in porches. The pool was wonderful because one of the younger granddaughters could not go to the beach so she stayed in the pool for 2 weeks! So much was thoughtfully provided and the home was beautifully decorated and furnished with comfortable beds , seating, and seaside colors. Julie kept in touch with us to insure that everything was going smoothly. We will be back and hope to try the fall or winter season next time.

Owner's Response: I am so glad your family was able to get together in our home! The living room really does have plenty of room to play and being located at the end of the street is an added bonus for outside activities. Ours is one of the largest privately owned pools on the island so it doesn't turn to hot bath water by mid June. We would be very happy to have you join us again anytime! The fall and winter are lovely. One year we were there right before Christmas so friends got freshly caught shrimp, snapper, soft shell crabs, and scallops as gifts. The local vendors are happy to ice down lots of goodies for the trip home. Tupelo honey is another local favorite which is often hard to find other places. Enjoy the rest of your summer! JULIE

Excellent choice for our family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this home is just as it is described. We highly recommend An Island Mooring for your getaway! The space is more than adequate for a large group, yet the open floor plan allows for great time together. The walk to the beach is very brief and serene. You will not be disappointed in the location. The screened porches were perfect for outdoor dining, enjoying the sunrises and sunsets, and playing games. Our only disappointment was having to leave. :) Thank you, Julie, for being so helpful during our planning.

Owner's Response: We appreciate that so much! The screened porches really are my favorite places to relax. The large living room is a great place for everyone is gather especially when you need to be out of the sun for a while. The path to the beach is so well kept and it is always fun to walk by the unique pine trees. It is such a great spot for pictures. We hope you will come back to our little island soon. Take care, the Moorings

The Forgotten Coast is exactly that. Quiet and peaceful with lots to do but with a relaxing feel and no crowds. Florida's oldest seafood festival is Nov 1st and so much fun. The March Chili Cook Off is a must. Art is very important to the Apalachicola community with a huge Plein Air Festival in May. There is always something to do, but only if you want to!
