About Jennifer Roberts

This property has been in our family since the the 30's, when my grandfather helped build it. My mother placed all 14 acres in a conservation easement just months before her death in 2011, and its serenity and rustic character are a legacy to a simpler way of life and a respect and love of nature.

Why Jennifer Roberts chose Smoky Mountains

This is a cabin where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of electronics and city life. Artists have come here to paint, writers to reflect, and families to enjoy time together. There are numerous places to hike and swim nearby, as well as hikes and waterfalls on the property.

What makes this cabin unique

When you go to sleep at night, you can hear the waterfall from the bedroom on the side of the house. You can eat on the porch and see the waterfall.

Stayed a couple of days

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful setting and great location. It was a little chilly, but space heaters and plenty of blankets made a great difference. We really enjoyed the fire pit. A. Holman

Charming but Chilly

  • 4 of 5

The property surrounding the cabin is absolutely stunning. The cabin itself is charming. If weather had remained mild, I would have rated our visit five-star. However, the temperature dropped to 30 degrees outside and we were very chilly inside. The fireplace provided limited warmth, and the space heaters did not make appreciable difference. We only felt comfortable when sleeping in cozy beds. I would highly recommend this property in mild seasons, but never in cold weather. We are Florida residents it is true, but believe most people would have been uncomfortable under the circumstances. Wonderful place to visit, but only in mild weather. Jennifer Roberts, the owner, was most cordial in responding quickly to our questions. It was delightful to work with her.

A few glitches at first, but very nice

  • 4 of 5

Unforeseen glitches at first but well taken care of by owner. Quaint cabin with small waterfall on property that can be enjoyed even on the porch.

Cool Historic Rustic Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Overall we enjoyed our stay but I will warn you, there is no TV service and no wifi. We liked the quiet and we were there for a wedding so we were on the go. This isn't a luxurious cabin, but it is full of history which I loved. There is a waterfall down the hill in the backyard that is just beautiful. I really liked the cabin. My husband would have preferred something more upscale, but if you're okay with the quaintness of a unique place, full of history, this place is for you.

Great place in Highlands for a family vacation.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is lovely, rooms are all very comfortable. Two bedrooms upstairs have no bathroom nor toilet, it might cause senior some problem. The house has no air conditioner, even temperature is OK, but humidity is slightly high. The patio has great view, and the cascade of creek is great, especially for young people and kids to play. We like this place and plane to go back again.

perfect mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is so nice. Rustic and secluded but perfect and very comfortable - ideal for 3 couples. 5 minutes to downtown Highlands. Beautiful creek with waterfall just off the front porch and you can hear the creek.

The owner was a delight to work with too!

We will definitely be back.
