Hideaway Cabin- Escape to this Log Cabin IN the woods

Forget all your day to day worries in this 3 bedroom, 2 bath secluded log cabin located about 3 miles from town. Even though this cabin is secluded, it’s not remote. It’s bordered by unspoiled properties, some of which are protected in perpetuity.

The main level offers the living area with wood burning fireplace, open kitchen area, covered front porch, small screened entry porch, Mst. BR with King bed, one bath, mud room, and back open deck area. The upper level has a full bath in between two bedrooms- one is a large BR with Queen bed and TV (for DVD use), and the other is an open loft bedroom with a queen bed. The loft looks over into the living area which has a queen sleep sofa.

The grounds are kept natural and are full of native wild flowers, ferns, rhododendrons and mountain laurel. There are two hammocks here, a Chimenea, fire pit- great place for story telling and making S’mores, and a corn hole game as well. This cabin is air conditioned and has satellite TV and DVD player. For the grill masters, there’s a Green Egg grill to cook up your masterpiece steak or fresh caught mountain trout.

WiFi is included, but this is still a great spot to disconnect, relax, unwind and enjoy the mountains.

This home has a three- night minimum, except for HOLIDAYS AND SOME LOCAL EVENTS.
The rental app you are using may allow you to make two or three-night rentals during these times, but that doesn't mean the reservation will be honored.

When you book your reservation through VRBO/Homeaway, the Property Manager handling this property will be notified by VRBO/Homeaway that a reservation has been made.

Great stay in the woods for our family and dog.

A charming cabin surrounded by Mountain Laurel and a beautiful moss path. We traveled with my husband and myself, two young adult sons and a girlfriend, and my mother in law. The space was very sufficient. One person slept in the pullout bed which was comfortable. Loved the porch amenities and the fire pit. Grateful to find equipment to roast smores as well. We cooked in a few meals and found everything we needed including a few spices available. The dishwater was badly chipped so we left a few new plates for future use. The location is only a few minutes from downtown and we had no problem coming or going from the Main St area. The WiFi was sufficient for our needs. The decor is traditional and could use a little updating, but clean, comfortable, and charming. I would rent this place again.

The house is down a gravel path off the road but relatively easy to navigate. Very well stocked except for potato peeler and grill could have been cleaner and some personal items removed to make room for guests. Otherwise it’s a wonderfully rustic retreat yet close to town and hiking. Really cool cabin with plenty of room for 6-8. We found the kitchen updated and clean!

Dirty House - Do Not Recommend

The house was extremely dirty. It did not look like it had been cleaned for some time. There were dead bugs in the kitchen light fixtures and all around the house. The home was treated as someone’s storage unit and there was junk everywhere. Even the light fixtures didn’t work because the lightbulbs had not been changed so we had to go buy lightbulbs. I highly do not recommend this home because of how dirty and gross of a home and how they have managed to maintain it.

Rent this cabin if you can overlook lack of cleaning

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Check in was easy. Keys and directions were in a kiosk outside the agents office. Access to the cottage is off a 2 lane asphalt road then on a pretty bad gravel road. A car that sits higher would be best. I am not sure if we damaged the underside of our car as it was scraped each time. The cottage decor could not be more charming. The floorplan is perfect. Note that the living area is open so if someone needs quiet or privacy, they would have to use a bedroom or outdoors. Important is that Wifi was excellent and TMobile was perfect due to a nearby tower. Lighting in the cabin was poor and made worse because of the density of the forest. That could/should be altered. The 3rd bedroom is a loft open to the living area. It is a bad design flaw in my mind. The porch is lovely but the furniture is filthy with rodent droppings on the cushions. The grill was also not cleaned. The garbage can in the laundry room had garbage in it. The deck furniture was also filthy. We noted that the wood floors were filthy as evidenced by our white socks made black. There were some dirty utensils in the kitchen drawers. The laundry room was filthy. The shower curtains had disgusting mold. The kitchen was pretty well furnished but additions of serving/mixing bowls as well as frig storage containers would be useful. There was no instruction book/guide to the area. We frequently rent and have never seen this lacking. Some communications with the office went unanswered. We checked out a day early because of the condition of the cabin. Of course we would like a refund of the night we didn't spend but given the communications gap and seeming indifferent attitude, I am not hopeful. Yes, we did report the dirty status of the cabin to Tucker the day after we arrived but there was no reaction nor even a further inquiry. We advise rental of this cabin only to people who can overlook the conditions.

Used washing machine one time it tore up paperwork says same Grill after every use look lak never been clean the rental company brought out new egg grill which was nice but day before Thanksgiving that did not do me no good I will never stay there again I rent a cabin every year at least once and Tennessee Carolina area this was the first one that really sucks and the last 29 years

We loved the cabin-kitchen was nice for thanksgiving-I was not satisfied with the linens-our blanket under the comforter had moth holes in it and the towels had pills-all need to be replaced! A washcloth had moth webs on it-gross!

It had all the essentials, was clean and perfect for our needs. No close neighbors or busy roads. Our dogs had plenty of space as did we. We would stay here again.

Nice Hideaway Cabin

We enjoyed the Hideaway Cabin and it was a great retreat for our family to enjoy time in beautiful Highlands! It was perhaps a little secluded, but in general close enough to town and far enough away at the same time. The cabin was large enough for our needs and we really enjoyed relaxing on the covered porch, and cooking meals together in the kitchen. Only bummer was they advertised having a Big Green Egg, which got my hopes up. After speaking with the property manager he warned me it wasn't in very good condition, and he was correct. Alas, we still enjoyed our stay at Hideaway Cabin and would go back again. P.s. there was a great little swimming hole and waterfall just a short bike ride away.

Beautiful vaulted ceilings, great porches, and seclude setting made for a peacefu and relaxing time

Enjoy the wooded setting along with the swing, hammock, and smoking some barbecue in the smoker. Very close proximity to downtown.

Cute cabin nestled in the woods

We loved our stay here and would happily go back! Everything we needed was there and it was a clean and cozy cabin. It was very private, completely surrounded by woods. It was a short drive into Highlands so very convenient. The only negative was the kitchen was outdated as we could not get the oven to work. They did have a toaster oven so we used that instead. Highly recommend going to Dusty's Superette for meats to grill!

It had all the basic.... great for the purpose of our weekend. 2 good bedrooms and a loft as the 3rd bedroom. Kitchen a bit outdated but has all the everything that you need.
