Nice visit

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This unit is pretty nice. The beds were good, the furniture was reasonably new and comfortable and the kitchen had plenty of pots and pans etc. A disappointment occurred though when it was determined that the oven could not be operated and needed repair. It did not work for the entire week. If the management staff had not been so gracious about alternatives to this critical failure, I would have been very upset. The owner needs to replace the oven yesterday but as of the time I left, the useless oven hulk was still there. I also found an invasion of sugar ants. While reported to the manager, I could not tell if they ever addressed it. The ants certainly stayed around. All that said, this is generally such a nice location, I’m coming back to Sand Cay but I will probably call about the condition of the unit before I book this one again. There are lots of other nice places there.

Paradise on Longboat Key

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall our experience at Sand Cay was fabulous and all that was advertised. My only complaint is that the WiFi was spotty on our phones anywhere other than the master bedroom. Anytime we left and returned we had to go to the bedroom to make sure our phone was reconnected. Also, the bathrooms could do with an update.

Unit needs a lot of TLC

The property location is very nice, however the unit is in need of a lot of work. When you open the door you are greeted by a filthy entrance carpet and stale smell. The carpet in the living area is also filthy. The overall feeling was dirty. Lights burnt out or missing and shabby decor. I enjoyed the Sandy Cay resort itself, but would never stay in this unit again.

Not our best stay

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental unit was not as inviting as some of the other units we’ve stayed at. The cabinet doors under the sink was nailed shut so there was no dish drainer or sponges available. There was also no simple pantry items like salt or pepper present. My wife did not realize that the hanging bathroom towel had blood stains on it until after she used it. Also the stopper in master bathroom sink was non functional. We will come back, but not choose this unit.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: For many years (20+ years) we would have given 5 stars (very happy) but not this last time. Prices has gone very high but not the quality of the units. Our room 105 was in general unclean not a poor job by the cleaning crew, but as a result of poor maintenance through the years, mold in the bathrooms for example, doors to the showers not working. Refrigerator was scheduled for replacement without notice in advance for us. A/C unit was not working for the first 2-3 days of our staying until we notified the front desk. Pool needs daily cleaning/maintenance, there was a dead frog for 2+ days before being removed. In general, Sand Cay is no longer worth the money we paid for the staying.

My review

We always enjoy this resort. We learned this year that the major renovation season includes the week of July 4th (which is when we always take vacation) and according to the front office you need to choose a time to visit the resort in the winter months or rent a condo on the top floor if you do not want to listen to floors being layed and other construction from 9am thru 5pm daily.

This is our 3rd or4th year in unit 105. Our 10th year at Sand Cay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 105 is nice because it’s a large 2 bedroom with double Queens and king beds. However it needs updating especially in the bathrooms. Master bath looks dirty due to chipped grout and mildew. The first bath can also use upgrades. I did notice new furniture in bedrooms and TV area. Our group had 6 rooms. 3 of them had noticeable updates. With rates going up more modern updates are expected. I also rented 106 and they updated kitchen very nicely. 106 needs it too. Noticed outside clean-out plumbing done and left sandy instead of putting sod. Poorly done with the rest of property looking nice.

However the unit needs some work-baseboards need replacement, guest bath needs new grab bars and kitchen needs better cleaning. We had to remove marks on wall. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to Sand Cay for over 30 years. We have had fantastic stays and some that were so-so. This year, unfortunately, was not up to par for this unit. Two of the biggest issues were that one of the windows would not shut and on day two the sliding glass door handle broke off (it was corroded). The issues were reported but were not fixed. This made it very difficult to enter through the glass door. Another very important third problem is an issue with mold/water damage. Water damage can be seen by the front door. There is a damp rid container in the kitchen. My daughter is allergic to mold and had horrible issues. Luckily, we rented multiple units and she was able to stay in another unit.

Baseboards are falling apart, blinds are old and broken, carpet is old and gross, kitchen faucet is loose and drippy, among other things. The unit was not cleaned when we got there. The sheets smelled of other people, strong cologne smell on the pillows, so I washed them as it was after office hours. There was an open hard seltzer can still with liquid in it under the nightstand in the room we had the kids in, sand and hair in the master shower, food (cereal?) under the tv in the living room... and just wasn't clean. I'm very disappointed as we've stayed here in the past (different unit) and I don't think we'll be back.

Excellent Location, fully stocked condo!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo was well prepared for our visit - the kitchen had every appliance you would need (and we made good use of them!). Location is fabulous...just steps from the beach. A few cons worth highlighting:Since this is a first floor unit, you will hear the folks upstairs. It was impossible to get any sleep until the party upstairs went to sleep. The walls/floors are thin.The master bedroom king bed is very outdated and needs to be upgraded. The mattress is uncomfortable.I love the community - it has old Florida charm, but I will not be staying on a ground floor unit again. It will have to be a top floor unit from now on as the stomping from upstairs is too much.
