6 Bedroom, 4 Bathroom, Home Surrounded By Reservation Lands
Beautiful and unspoiled, this property is part of a prestigious, 100 year old community on a peninsula reaching out into Buzzard’s Bay. Our large vacation home on 2.1 acres is surrounded by 30 acres of wooded reservation lands, the quiet occasionally broken by a fog horn from the bay. Magical paths through forest lead to private beach, sailing and tennis courts. The house includes 6 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, living room (16'x25'), dining room, kitchen, great room (24'x28') with cathedral ceiling, and screened porch (12'x25'). The house is equipped with most amenities including wireless internet and cable service for 2 LCD TV's. Both the addition and main house have sound systems in good working order. The main kitchen is fully equipped and a 2nd refrigerator is steps away in the mudroom. The Great Room in the addition has its own kitchenette. Outside is a sunny and ample back yard with a variety of playthings for children of all ages, as well as both a patio, an outdoor shower, and both a charcoal grill and propane grill. Beyond the volleyball area is a waterproof and bug-proof tree house with a sleeping loft. It is a perfect setting for an extended family gathering.
Our property is a member of the Wings Neck Trust community, consisting of a few dozen families on the outer 1/3 of Wings Neck. Trust members and guests have access to the trust tennis courts and 2 private beaches. The main beach at the cove includes swimming areas and a tidal pond full of tiny sea creatures (adored by young children). Small water craft (kayaks, sailfish) can be launched from and stored on racks at the beach. Two miles away is a landing for larger boats which can be anchored in the cove. Quiet local roads are ideal for biking, jogging and walking. Children can be signed up for activities associated with the local sailing club.
Less than 10 minutes away are larger public beaches, golf courses, boat rentals, theatres, a grocery store, and fine restaurants. Five miles away is the head of the Shining Sea bike path, leading all the way into Woods Hole. It is the newest and possibly the most beautiful bike path on Cape Cod. Six miles north are the bike paths lining the Cape Cod Canal. Falmouth, Woods Hole and ferry boats to the Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are 15-20 minutes away.
Our property is perfect for extended families seeking tons of summer fun but also privacy, comfort and lots of space at the home base. A vacation on this property is the ideal way to relax and enjoy the best of Cape Cod without the din of crowds and traffic.

About David Howell
I came to Massachusetts from the Midwest in 1972 to attend college, and I've lived here ever since. While I have an excess of higher education, I have always liked physical activities, especially building / renovating houses, competitive racquet sports, hiking through mountains, biking, and shell-fishing. I enjoy music of all kinds and have hundreds of albums of jazz, soft rock, folk, musicals and classical music. I sing in a Chorale and play a little bit of piano and guitar. Chess was once a passion but these days I prefer bridge and scrabble. Our family believes in the equality of all people, in that all people have a unique story, and all people feel and care equally. I value education but I think both education and intelligence are multi-faceted, having a little to do with what one can learn within the four walls of an educational institution, and a lot more to do with the persistent application of our abilities to the world around us. Our friends and guests are bright and wonderful people, and very diverse in their educational backgrounds and vocations. I like to think that the common ground is that all love to have fun without compromising the happiness of others. What I love more than anything is a fun gathering of good friends, the laughter of my children, and the embrace of loved ones.
David Howell purchased this House in 1966
Why David Howell chose Pocasset
My memories of Cape Cod go back to my earliest childhood, as my parents brought our family to the Cape every summer. We first rented a property on Wings Neck in the summer of 1961. My parents purchased land on Wings Neck in 1966 and built our home there. Technically I became the owner of the property in 2013 after my father passed away, but to me it is just the continuation of the property ownership by our family. I identify strongly with the history of this property. It has been a place of joy for hundreds and hundreds of people.
What makes this House unique
This property, like the fabled property of the book, 'The Big House' just 300 yards away, has been the scene of countless gatherings. It has been visited by writers, cooks, poets, carpenters, doctors, waitresses, rock & roll legends, teachers, tour guides, inventors, gardeners, a (later-in-time) presidential candidate, a bellman, tennis pros, physical therapists, liberals and conservatives, republicans and even more democrats and political others, Phd's and high school dropouts, young and old, theists and atheists, in short, people from every walk of life, and all shared happiness at this property. The spaciousness, beauty and privacy of this property beckon merriment and good will among all who come here.

Wonderful Family Home. Great location
We were a 3 generation family who spent a week here in July. The house was great, the yard was terrific for the kids and the location suited us perfectly. The privacy was a big factor for us with 4 kids and lots of cousins visiting. Access to the beach was also good. Good restaurants nearby, especially the Lobster Shack. We were visiting from out of state for a cousins reunion and several members had not been to the Cape before. We made great use of the cards and games and the extensive CD collection. The screened porch was a favorite gathering place. Dave could not have been nicer and we would highly recommend this rental to anyone.
Great house and location
My family and I spent a week here last summer. With an age rang from 2 to 50. It was great, it has two local beaches. The house is stocked with plenty of toys and games and bikes, the kids had a blast. So did the parents, a ton of space, quiet, private. The tree house came in handy too, we put an air mattress out there and the kids spent more than one night out there. They loved it, and no bug bites either.
Fantastic location for great family reunion
We had three generations (from 4 month-old to grandparents in their 70s) at the house and we ALL loved it! Great place for swimming, running, playing tennis, BBQ-ing and just relaxing while the kids play on the swing, ride bikes, in the tree-house, the hammock and volleyball! Walking through the woods to the beach was idyllic, and the wonderful community Fourth-of-July scavenger hunt was really fun. Perfect location - and a great, warm and welcoming host! We're hoping to come back again and again and we highly recommend it.
Wonderful private place
We have stayed here for two summers now. We love the privacy of the house - it's set in the trees with a large lawn and private fenced yard. The kitchen is a bit small, but there is plenty of room elsewhere in the house for everyone to spread out. Swimming at the local beach or a short drive to many others.
we loved it!
This rental was perfect for our family reunion. Our family came from NY, Michigan and North Carolina. It was great to stay together and play together. We enjoyed the onsite toys and bikes as well as an easy walk to the beach. The porch was our favorite hangout. I would rent here again in a second!
Our property is part of the Wings Neck Trust, occupying the outer 1/3 of the Wings Neck peninsula. Swimming and sailing are the primary activities on the main beach. The Trust tennis courts are only 1/4 mile from our house. There are several golf courses, a water park and an amusement center within 20 minutes of the property, as well as Falmouth and Woods Hole where ferry boats take travelers to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
