Our guests love the Royal Kahana, many returning each year! It's so relaxing. Stunning Ocean views from the lanai, walking distance to restaurants, shops, grocery and convenience stores. Gorgeous ocean views, workout facility, a heated pool and lush green lawns. We also have Ping Pong and Shuffleboard. Nothing is lacking at the Royal Kahana and our great prices make it the best deal on the Island.

Royal Kahana's best reward is the spectacular panoramic views of the west Maui coast and Lanai and Molokai islands. If you want a getaway of peaceful morning strolls and divine star-gazing where island casual wear (shorts, comfortable top and flip-flops) is the usual attire, then Royal Kahana is for you!

Kahana is a quiet oceanfront community situated between the more well-known West Maui areas of the Kaanapali and Kapalua Resorts. From November to April, there’s no better place on the coast to view humpback whales breaching offshore.

*Beach information

The beach fronting the Royal Kahana experiences seasonal ocean current changes that influence the beach’s physical appearance and size. During the fall and winter, it is not uncommon that these currents sweep away a very large amount of sand, which will gradually return back in spring and summer, based on the ocean's current activity. Our homeowners Assoc., The County of Maui, and the State of Hawaii are working diligently to return Kahana Bay to its full potential.

This circumstance, unfortunately, affects the accessibility of our valued guests to the beach. While there may not be, at times, direct access from the property to the beach during the fall and winter season, there is a public beach access within 5 minutes walking distance.

Our guests' safety is of the utmost concern for us. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

You can stay updated on our ocean front access by viewing our web page, rkmaui(dot)com, and checking the postings on the homepage. We update the postings as soon as we receive new information from the resort.

My family owns several units at the Royal Kahana. We've spent many family vacations there over the last 30+ years and each year we are just a eager to return as the last. It is a spectacular resort.

Come see all that Maui has to offer!

A sunset cruise around the island makes for a perfect romantic evening. If you’re curious about what goes on under the waves, snorkeling tours are a great way to view the incredible variety of life that lives under the surface of the ocean. If you don’t want to get wet, there’s even a submarine that can take you into the deeps while you view its mysteries from the comfort of a warm cabin. Helicopter tours are an excellent way to take in views of the whole island, including incredible waterfalls, sea cliffs and forests you would be hard pressed to view on foot.

For those looking for a little more excitement, you can take an ATV tour or Zipline adventure, drive the road to beautiful Hana or watch the sunrise from Haleakala. Enjoy Maui's fabulous luaus (A favorite of mine is the Old Lahaina Luau), restaurants – you must try the Sunday brunch at the Ka’anapali Beach Resort), shops, art galleries and spas!

These tours and others can be arranged at the wonderful Concierge’s desk located in our main lobby at the Royal Kahana Resort. Maui is also a wonderful Island to explore on your own. You can make the morning drive up to Haleakala Sunrise. You can even bike ride down the volcano! I’ve not taken that ride, but my brother in-law has and said it was a great experience. I have driven to the seven sacred pools, several times and plan to go again – it’s a wonderful trip.

Great view and good air conditioning!

We loved the view of the ocean, Moloka'i, and the shoreline. It was a nice break to stay in a place where the air conditioning actually gets down to the lower 70s! The pool was heated and clean and the fitness center had plenty of equipment. We also enjoyed having Village coffee and Dollies Pizza across the street.

Great view

This studio had everything we needed. The condo is spotless and comfortable. We would definitely stay at the Royal Kahana again. We found restaurants close by and had great meals. Just up the road some great beaches to swim and snorkel.

Fantastic low key place to stay for a couple on a budget

This is an amazing place to stay! It met our requirements of being able to hear and see the ocean from our room. Like the listing says, the beach is a work in progress; it's not the best (definitely wear water shoes or you'll meet the sea urchins like we did), but practically all of Maui is a beach so it doesn't matter. There's so much to explore on Maui so book here, don't spend all of your money on a resort, and use the savings towards adventures.

Pros: Big space for a studio, So glad we had a washer/dryer in our room, stocked kitchen saved us money, provided beach towels kept us from wasting suitcase space, shower is spacious, king size bed is hard to find in other listings, WiFi and Roku worked great, loved the table on the balcony. Within walking distance to a few restaurants, an overpriced grocery store for emergency purchases, the brewery, and a gas station.

Cons: no dishwasher but that's only if you cook a lot, no ice maker so you have to plan ahead and use the provided ice cube trays
