This is our second year staying at this home. It is beautiful and well maintained. Plenty of room never felt crowded. The fenced in backyard was great as well. We loved the outdoor shower.
Great place, great location.
We loved this property. Plenty of room for our family of 4, and grandma. This home could work for a larger family, or multiple families with a futon in the master and four beds in the other two rooms.
Ed was great, ensuring that all was good with the house before our arrival and was quick to provide information during our stay. He made great recommendations about the local fare, as well!
Fenced backyard has a great seating area with plenty of space to lounge. It was nice to have a place right at the house where the kids could safely wear themselves out before bed. We grilled almost every night we were there, as well.
It was a short drive to the beach, and the 1856 Country Store and Four Seas Ice Cream are within easy walking distance. Definitely a perk to have a pass for the beach included with the rental. My kids (4 and 6) had a blast at the playground next to the recreation center, which was less than a half mile from the house. Easy walk.
I really don't have anything but praise for the home and Ed. Definitely hope to stay here again on a future trip!
We loved the property and highly recommend it.
We loved the property and would stay here again. The property is completely updated, clean and in great shape. We especially loved the completely fenced in backyard for our dog. It was like home away from home. Two thumbs up.
Great Place to Relax With All the Amenities!
We were looking to rent a house with all the comforts of home, a nice beach nearby and have our dog with us for the stay. This house was perfect! A beach parking pass is included and we went every day. The local beach is beautiful and well maintained. The fenced in yard was very private and our dog (a 19 lb. Westie) was able to play there safely. Another feature is that it was very quiet and not "touristy" at all, but there are plenty of things to do if you're so inclined. There are many great eateries within a short drive and one night we even had delivery from a local Italian restaurant. As I said, all the comforts of home. No doubt we will go back!
Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your time on Cape Cod and the home and location worked out well for you. Hope to see you again in the future.
The perfect spot to enjoy the Cape!
First or foremost, Ed's mini-retreat compound is extremely well maintained. You feel at home once you pull into the place. The house was perfect for our family of 5, and accommodated another couple visiting for a night without any problem. As mentioned in previous feedback, hardwood floors throughout, all the linens and towels, Nest central air, Wi-Fi, washer and dryer, 2 full baths, fenced in backyard with envious patio furniture + an OUTDOOR Shower provide you with luxuries you would not expect from a rental property at this price point. Another key feature to the house is LOCATION. It is centrally located on the Cape, and convenient to get to almost any spot. You are no more than 15-30 minutes away from most parts of the Cape...most of our trips were 15 min on avg. The beach parking access was clutch! It saved us money from having to pay twice when we went on our Whale Watchers trip in Hyannis. We would have had to pay $15 to park for the Whale Watch Tour and then re-park for another $15+ for the dinner we had right next to the Whale Watch Tour place. The parking pass works on a number of beaches in the surrounding area, too. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and Ed and Kelly showed us the best time. We achieved 3 beach days, a day of go-karting, batting cage and playing, a day whale watching, a trip to the Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory, a Pirate boat ride for the kids, putt-putt + ice-cream, and the best Uber ride EVER! We could not be more thankful to Ed and Kelly for the hospitality! We would thoroughly enjoy a return trip, but it might be tough to top this one.
A Real Gem
Rather than reiterate what's already been written, all of which is true, what I can say is this place is worth every penny. I know the Cape and Centerville going back to my childhood. For those from further afield who may be first timers or more local and looking for that "right" spot, look no further. Whether you're traveling together, with friends, a young family in tow or w/ teens who wanna do their own thing, pets, grandparents, in-laws (they'll love you), this place has you covered.
Amenities aside, like more towels than you could ever use, unless of course you bring your 16 year old daughter and her friends along for the week as we did, the sense of privacy you'll get is something you will no doubt appreciate right from the start. If you're not a beach person you can just soak up the sun and chill in one of the best back yards ever...not even kidding it's that good. That's really the only problem with this place, you may find yourself making all sorts of excuses to NOT get out and do all the things you should do while you're here!!
In the village alone and a short walk you've got a huge playground for the kiddies, historical society, library, tennis courts, the famous 1856 Country Store (the candy store as we knew it), the even more famous 4 Seas Ice Cream (you'll go...more than once), the Ancient Cemetery around the corner where you'll find a "Who's Who" of Centerville's history, and where you can get some cool headstone rubbings (my boys still talk about it and they're 20 somethings now!), short drives to Barnstable Village or down Route 6A with its antique shops, Main Street Hyannis, boutique shopping nearby in Osterville or down to Chatham, or head out to Nauset "The National Seashore" (read Beston's "The Outermost House" before you go) and while you're at it, go all the way to Provincetown (P Town) to experience a part of the Cape many might not get to see. Hop a ferry to the islands for a day trip from Hyannis? Centerville gets you there with ease.
And if you think the Cape is just for summer...think again. Some of the nicest weather we have around here is in September. So maybe if you're thinking about a more introspective, leisurely approach when it's quieter, then all the way thru Columbus Day is a perfect time to visit.
There is so much to do on Cape Cod you cannot possibly do it all at once, which means you'll have to come back...and you'll have to stay here. And as Forrest said, "That's all I have to say about that."
There are many golf courses within 5-15 minute drive.
