Goat Island is unique! Arriving by Private Boat Only, this is where the fun begins...... Painting the Smiley Face, a game of Ping Pong on the front porch, laying in hammocks, fishing the back beach on Gray Bay, kayaking the ICW, swimming off the dock, and exploring Buccaneer Road.

Enjoy beautiful sun sets and rises. Cook local oysters under the stars while sitting around a roaring fire, or bask in the sun for hours on your own private dock while your fishing and crabbing lines are out catching fresh seafood for dinner. The Smiley Face House can offer you all of this and more for year round fun and relaxation.

The house has a complete rap around deck so there is always shade or sun shine somewhere.

This home features two bedrooms. One king bedroom and one queen bedroom with one set of bunks, sleeping a total of six people. There is an additional appartment that is available with a queen size bed that can sleep two. Home includes a mircowave, coffee pot with gold filter, 48' flat screen with complete direct tv, radio, gas grill, kayak for two, canoe, dock, ping pong table, games, and linens. Please remember this is an island you can only get to by boat. If you do not have a boat we will be happy to provide a ride to and from the Island upon check in and check out.

Peaceful Goat Island cabin

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I chose the Smiley Face house because we wanted a "getaway", a place that felt peaceful and secluded--and that's exactly what Goat Island was like! Jimmy was a fantastic host--on our second day, he set up a bonfire in his backyard for us to use. We couldn't have asked for more. There is plenty to do there, and doing nothing there was excellent too. We hope to go back!

Great property, great host!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Smiley Face house in October for a fishing vacation. The house was perfect - clean, well equipped, everything we were looking for and more. Jimmy was the perfect host, very helpful with anything we needed. We will definitely plan on coming back here next year.

perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We always wanted to rent a house on Goat Island, and were super excited to stay for a long weekend. We made the right choice choosing Jimmy's rental. It has everything you need along with the most accommodating host. We had two families with infants who would play out on the dock. We caught enough crab and fish to feed us almost the entire trip. Everyone was a little depressed to leave.

Such a Wonderful Visit

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing visit to The Smiley Face House on Goat Island. The house was beautiful, comfortable, well appointed, immaculately clean and well maintained. We loved painting the water tank and enjoyed fishing and crabbing with Jimmy's assistance and direction. We enjoyed use of the kayaks and corn hole game and hated to leave at the end of our visit. The island was beautiful and we enjoyed spending the Fourth of July weekend at such a lovely locale. We were able to watch the IOP fireworks without leaving our front porch. Jimmy was a wonderful host and instantly made us feel like family. It was a wonderful holiday of family and fun!

"Wonderful, unique vacation"

  • 5 of 5

Are you looking for a unique beach experience unlike any other? Well then, you’ve found it at the Smiley Face House on Goat Island!

We rented this house for a week in July and wasn’t quite sure what we were getting into when we discovered that the only the way to get to Goat Island was by boat. BUT it was SO. GOOD!

Here’s just a few of our favorite things about spending our vacation at Goat Island:

Jimmy our boat taxi driver, tour guide, crab cook and neighbor

Crab fishing, and eating - on the dock: Jimmy helped my husband and father-in-law set up everything for crabbing and once we collected enough for a hefty appetizer, took them over to his place to boil them up. Then, he showed us how to take them apart and eat them, hammer and all, while we nibbled on devoured the crab meat, sipped on white wine and listened to stories about Jimmy’s adventures and life on Goat Island

Watching and listening to dolphins in the moonlight. Need I say more?!

A sunset boat ride around the bay with a history of the area from Jimmy and dolphin sightings

Outdoor shower: You have not experienced a truly refreshing shower until you’ve taken an outdoor shower after spending the morning at the beach.

Muriel the Goat and Jimmy’s critters: Our daughter loved feeding the neighborhood goat and the Island’s namesake

The house itself was nice and spacious and clean with plenty of space to lounge on the porch and sip cocktails, place your mat down and do your yoga routine, play board and bar games or have your morning coffee and breakfast.

We loved absolutely everything about the Smiley Face House on Goat Island. It is truly a one-of-a-kind vacation experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives and that we will continue to tell our friends and family about.

Unforgetable Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has traveled to Charleston many times, however, this was by far our best trip ! My family loves the water so we knew we would love the view but we just never expected all the MAGIC! Goat Island is truly a hidden gem to the Charleston area .Across the rode from the house , the sunsets will take your breath away. He has a fire pit and Christmas lights in the trees which for the fall would be so much fun. The kids can walk in the morning and get fresh eggs. A Polaris ride for my husband through the island was icing on the top.Jimmy goes over and beyond to make sure his guest have what they need and are taken care of. He shares his home and his love for the island with you. We stayed 4 nights and wished we had had longer! He is also a master craftsman and we may have brought furniture home by boat! :) We are looking forward to coming back . SOON!
