Overview

About the property

Be a Keeper at the Pt. Robinson Light Station on Vashon Island

Vashon Park District offers amazing stays in the two renovated keepers' quarters at Point Robinson Lighthouse. The two residences share the beach with the lighthouse and several out buildings. Both residences are available for vacation rental through the year, offering you a wonderful way to enjoy the beach, the Sound and Vashon Island.

Quarters B is a two-bedroom, one bath, completely furnished unit with a unique full kitchen and sitting parlor. This house is restored to capture much of its 1919 historical condition. It can accommodate to four- six people.

The sunny kitchen in Quarters B evokes a time of homemade biscuits and slow Sunday breakfasts.

The sitting room boasts period furnishings and contemporary comfort.

This Quarter is perched near the lighthouse on the shore of Puget Sound. It offers a wondrous porch looking out over the Sound and at Mount Rainier.

Quarters B is part of a duplex comprising half of the downstairs and the entire upper floor of the house. It's next door to our caretaker, Mo Anakar. The front porch is shared with separate entrances.

Why Eric Wyatt chose Vashon Island

Vashon Park District's Point Robinson Park is a 10 acre shoreline park and historical and marine conservancy. It is located on the east shore of Maury Island, off Point Robinson Road overlooking East Passage. The site has provided fog and lighthouse service for vessels since 1885. The lighthouse has been fully automated since 1978.

*Vashon Park District owns the upland part of the park; the remainder is on long term lease from the Coast Guard.

The property conserves an extensive sandy beach shoreline that wraps around the point, a saltwater marsh, and upland woodlands. Walking trails and a few picnic tables have been developed along the scenic shoreline providing dramatic views of East Passage, Tacoma, and Mount Rainier, and through the upper wooded slopes.

Pt. Robinson Stewards have fully restored the two Keepers' Quarters on the property for use as rentals. All proceeds from these rentals goes back into the park's restoration and maintenance.

What makes this house unique

Point Robinson - what a special gift this property is to the people of Vashon. There are not a lot of places in the world where you can witness whales breaching an arm's length away and giant ships steaming by in the night, or watch Great Blue Herons fish in front of a lighthouse. So, on behalf of our Island and the Vashon Park District, welcome to Point Robinson Lighthouse. You're going to love it.

Beautiful views and the best location.

  • 5 of 5

I loved the lighthouse tour given by Captain Joe. Eric and Mo the manager and caretaker took good care of us and made great recommendations. We paddle boarded with dolphins and seals that were hanging out in front of our cottage. I would recommend this place to just a couple looking for a getaway or a family that likes to explore. A great place to enjoy nature.

This is a beautiful place to stay for a vacation of relaxation. We also had our wedding in the lawn next door. Everything was perfect and Eric and Maria were very helpful. Thank you!

Peaceful, private, lots of light, deer wandering, birds to watch, very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The house is very well-appointed, decor is up scale eclectic, kitchen has everything you need (rare in rentals), good knives & pans, nice wine glasses. Comfy beds, lots of french doirs opening to deck, living area comfy too. It was very hot the day we arrived but the host had good floor fans & even a room air conditioner which we didnt even use. Host is very thoughtful in how house is set up & maintains communication really well! It is tricky to find entrance at night, especially first time. Ask for lights to be left on & I am sure she would be happy to help! Oh, also very pet friendly!! Close to town but peaceful, I will definitely rent again.

The most relaxing and beautiful week! The houses are perfect and the staff is great!

We could not have been more happy with our stay at The Keeper’s Quarters. Everything was very clean when we arrived and it was equipped with everything we needed. The front porch is literally the best place on the property; watching the fisherman, seeing seals and bald eagles every morning, and sipping coffee was the best way to start the day! Eric, Maria, and the park staff were all extremely friendly and prompt in their responses. We actually got married on the property while we stayed there and they answered all our requests and the property looked perfect for our special day. Would highly recommend staying here if you have the chance!

Owner's Response: Kelley, thank you so very much! You were so delightful to work with, and your wedding was truly beautiful. You had a wonderful vision for the meadow and it looked spectacular. The sunflowers, you and your attendants, the dance floor & lights - everything. It was a real pleasure to have you and your guests with us. If you ever want to celebrate an anniversary at the Keepers' Quarters just let us know!

lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

house is sweet and comfortable, well-stocked with kitchen stuff etc. The setting is incomparable- on the beach- with a view across the water of Mt Rainier. One evening we sat on the porch and watched the sun set on Mt Rainier, as the full moon rose.
