About Jacques and Becky Gagne

It all started with mail order Christmas wreaths. We were looking for a property to run our seasonal business, Island Sea Wreath when this property, close to our home, became available in 2000. The property consisted of a main house and small guest cottage and was perfect for our seasonal business needs. We were lucky to find year round renters for both houses. Last spring we said goodbye to Sally, our renter and friend who had been at the Balsam Lane Cottage for almost 13 years. I went to work remodeling and decorating the now vacant cottage for summer renters. Much to my delight I uncovered my inner contractor/decorator! I picked paint colors, fabrics, antique furniture and other eclectic pieces to create a relaxing and uncluttered environment. I wanted to live there myself! The property is peaceful being located down a private road but only minutes from the village center. You'll enjoy the sunny deck all day long and may even spy a family of deer feasting under the old apple tree in the field.

Jacques and Becky Gagne purchased this cottage in 2000

Perfecto!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage IS charming, just as described on the vrbo site. It is warm and welcoming (as well as hosts Becky and Jacques!). It has everything a traveler needs, is located down a quiet country lane, and yet is close to the town of Blue Hill, Acadia NP and other area attractions/locations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage and highly recommend it as a get-a-way for two.

Owner's Response: So happy to hear your stay at the cottage was such a good experience for you both. I read the detailed notes you left in the guest book. I urge all new guests to be sure and take advantage of your reports on hikes and eateries! The cottage was left in perfect condition, which I appreciate so much. Come visit us again someday!

Nice, quiet place away from the crowds

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Becky’s place. It was very clean and well-stocked with everything you need. The Blue Hill Peninsula is a quiet gem away from the crowds at Bar Harbor. Acadia is about 50 -60 minutes away. We loved exploring the newer part of Acadia at the Schoodic Peninsula. Blue Hill Peninsula has lots of hiking options, too. If you love hiking and seafood, this is the place for you.

Secluded cottage in the woods

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as pictured and described. Very private setting, yet close to stores and shoppes. We really enjoyed seeing the flocks of wild turkeys every evening. A very relaxing stay in a wonderful quaint cottage. A great place to vacation on our first trip to Maine.

Sweet and private cottage/apartment

  • 4 of 5

This rental was perfect for the wedding we were attending. It had everything we needed with the exception of shampoo conditioner and soap for showering, but there was a grocery store near enough that it wasn’t much of an inconvenience.

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at your cottage. I would recommend it to anyone. We really enjoyed the deck where we could sit and relax in the afternoon with a glass of wine. We also enjoyed the town of Blue Hill and the surrounding area's. Look forward to coming back in the future.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you had an enjoyable stay at the cottage. I love the deck too and the birds eye view you sometimes have of the woodland creatures grazing in the field! There were lots of new spots to explore in Blue Hill this summer and happy you were able to take them all in! We'd love to have you back some day, just give us a call.
