About Owner / Manager

We have always lived around golf as our livelihood, while Adeline's personal endeavor has been assisting people with special needs. She is a certified caregiver and has extensive training in health and psychology.

Doug, who enjoyed many sports, has made his career as a golf professional in all areas of the golf industry. His ability to vary his approach in teaching golf to suit the individual has made him a successful teacher for beginners and aspiring professionals. He has a keen eye for personal needs and keeps the focus on the enjoyment of the game.

'Golf is Us' is an endearment we have earned together. Adeline was an active caddy for Doug while he played the senior PGA tour. Adeline passionately engages in the sport as a spectator, always happy following the USA PGA events with Doug. At home she loves to read, hike or knit at the Friday Night Knitter's club on Saltspring Island. Visitors are welcome to join in while they are here. She has enough needles and yarn to share with guests!

Both Adeline and Doug love to hear Fish Tales, Golf Tales, or Ferry Tales. There are three ferry docks on Saltspring and BC Ferries transports you to and from the Mainland or to Vancouver Island. Day trips are possible and leaves time to gather around the fire pit in the front garden (due to fire regulations,Spring and Fall only), or to join in the live music at restaurants near the boardwalk on the Gulf.

Come visit; you are likely to meet new friends while touring the Studio Artist Tours, the Saturday Market, wine tasting, kayaking, book browsing or knitting ... and so much more!

lovely home, beautiful landscaping, tranquil environment

  • 5 of 5

This was perfect for our family of 4. Our hosts provided directions to their place, and suggestions for things to see on Salt Spring Island. The house was fully equipped with toys and books for our girls (ages 3 and 7), so it felt completely like ours for the weekend. It was clean, comfortable, and quiet. It is about a mile away from the town. When the hot tub stopped working, Doug was quick to respond to our email. We were fortunate to see 2 deer outside the front window during our stay...they must have felt at home too.

welcoming and cozy place

  • 5 of 5

Doug and Adeline have a beautiful, clean home with plenty of space to stay cozy. The fireplace and hot tub were integral parts to our winding down and settling in. their yard is large, with a fire pit and plenty of seating and views to the mountains and water. They baked fresh bread for our arrival and gave us a complete tour before heading off. There is wifi and netflix if so desired. we brought 2 children, who absolutely loved the house and yard. I give this a 2 thumbs up!

Beautiful place, helpful owners

  • 5 of 5

My spouse and I stayed here in July and really enjoyed our visit. The owners were helpful is arranging our arrival while their daughter was there, and she showed us around. I did meet them on the last day as we were leaving, and they were very friendly. During out stay there was one family there the first night, and the 2nd night it was just us. Even the night where the other guests were there it was more then enough space, and the kitchen and main room and very comfortable. The yard is beautiful with all sorts of nice sitting areas, and we enjoyed the hot tub. Our room had a beautiful view of the water to wake up to, as did the bathtub in our bathroom. While the home in close to Ganges and we didn't have trouble finding it (thought the walk would be hard with lots of luggage) we did end up renting a car in the end to explore the rest of the island.

The property was lovely and the owners wonderful.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. We had a few problems with appliances but really appreciated that we had use of the living space along with the bedrooms. It was quite perfect for our family -- parents in the double bet and kids on the comfy, new pullout. The place was very clean and the hot-tub was a delight to use. It is a salt-water tub and so isn't smelly and harsh on the skin. The house is close to Ganges so we were able to enjoy the town easily. The property was pretty and quite secluded -- especially considering the proximity to town. It has a peek at the ocean although no direct access. We had a great time and would recommend it to others.

Cute but dirty

  • 3 of 5

Addie's Attic is quite cute with a lot of potential. The owners were very kind as well, and let us arrive at 1:30 which is generally an earlier than average check-in.

However, it is extremely cluttered and unfortunately in desperate need of a clean.

I'm not extremely picky but the downstairs bathroom was very dirty which my son discovered (the toilet seat was full of urine splatters and had pubic hair on it. The fridge was full of random things (from previous guests?) like half eaten yogurt, part of an avacado, meat (I think), cheese, and an array of other interesting half eaten/drunk items.

I was hoping for the ocean view from the top bedroom as it said in the description but that room was closed off. The two rooms we had were clean and inviting.

Some things we enjoyed were the hot tub, close driving proximity to Ganges, and the kids enjoyed exploring the yard.

All in all our total came to $360.00 including tax for two nights so it wasn't outrageously pricey but I was certainly expecting a cleaner place.

Owner's Response: Dear Becca, Thank you for the review. It’s too bad no one reached out to talk to us about the issues during the stay though. It is with deepest regret to hear that expectations were not met during this stay. This is a first and we will certainly take this as a learning experience. One for instance in where we understand that we cannot please everyone as hard as we try. We strived to accommodate the last-minute 2-½ hour early check-in request but now recognize that steps can get missed when hurrying to accommodate special requests such as this. In that regard we failed and feel terribly. We will certainly take this experience to heart and in light for our future guests. We now know that it’s best not to rush things and better to just stick with our policies to insure quality. We would also like to apologize that you were under the impression that you had rented the whole house exclusively for the $150/night rate. We will make sure that we adjust our descriptions so they are clear in explanation and show with the rate you paid you receive a full B&B type room with ‘communal’ use of the kitchen and other house amenities/common areas. Unfortunately the rooms that have the ocean view only accommodate one couple in each and not a family of 4 such as the one that was rented for your stay. For an additional fee there is an option though to also rent the additional room. Again our deepest apologies for the confusion and we will make this clear in our listings. We do hope the bottle of prosseco that you enjoyed from the fridge at least helped make your holiday a little more pleasant while taking in the sunshine and views from the patios. Sincere regards, Addies ‘unique and humble’ Attic
