*NEWER Yosemite Inverness House* with Central Air and Heat Inside Yosemite Park

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom 2 bath Beautiful Private House

Yosemite West is centrally located inside the park entrance, and sits near an intersection of the roads leading to the park's most famous features: Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

This private updated 2-level house sits at the end of a quiet street, with a network of running and hiking trails surrounding the neighborhood. Too hot? Too cold? Not a problem. Our home features central air conditioning for those too hot for comfort nights and central heat to keep every part of the house toasty.

Cook comfortably in our fully-equipped kitchen with full-size, stainless steel appliances, gas range, granite countertops and fully stocked with service for 8 and all the necessary gadgets to prepare your favorite meals. Pantry is stocked with a variety of spices and individually wrapped teas, sugar and cream. The dining area has a pub-style table for six and is open to the living room area.

Enjoy the views while you grill, dine or lounge outdoors on our expansive 300 sq ft. deck. You have your choice of grilling on a GAS BBQ grill (located on the deck) or grilling on a free-standing, cast iron, CHARCOAL grill (located on the lower level in front of the house).

We’ve provided a picnic basket and cooler for a spontaneous picnic in the park. Picnic basket serves 6 and includes individually wrapped salt & pepper. Reusable ice packs can be found in the freezer.

Clean, bright and tastefully decorated, the living room is an inviting space with a large and comfortable curved sectional sofa, gas burning stove, flat-screen TV, and plenty of DVDs for your next movie night. The dish network connection is very unreliable due to the height of the surrounding trees. We are hoping a new carrier will soon come into the Yosemite West area with a more reliable TV service.

A diverse and extensive library of books is available for you to enjoy including books on Yosemite, hikes and nature walks. You may take books with you if haven’t finished reading them and you’re also welcome to contribute to our library with books of your own. There are plenty of “reading lights” conveniently throughout the house.

The first bedrooms is furnished with a full size bed and twin bunk bed. The second is furnished with a king sized bed. The master bedroom is also furnished with a king bed. Bathroom #1 has dual sinks with granite countertop, tiled floor, full size shower/tub and plenty of natural light. The master bathroom has dual sinks, granite countertops, tiled floors, and a shower.

Plenty of natural light fills the bathroom and features dual sinks, granite counter tops and tiled floor. Enjoy “hotel-like” complimentary toiletries. First aid kit under the bathroom sink.

Full size washer and dryer available for guests staying 7 days or more.

About Judy Brandy Yoho

I have loved Yosemite since my teens. We climbers drank straight from all the rivers, and spent our days on the granite walls. In my early 20s, I climbed every major cliff in the Yosemite Valley, had barely enough money to buy a beer, and hitchhiked everywhere I couldn’t walk. My best memories…

This place is 12 miles from El Capitan Meadows, the best picnic spot in the Valley. At about 5500 feet above sea level, it’s nice and cool all summer when the Valley is sweltering. At the edge of the Yosemite West, there’s no development on any lot surrounding this one, so it’s private.

Judy Brandy Yoho purchased this house in 2009

Why Judy Brandy Yoho chose Yosemite National Park

Location, location, location. Yosemite West is located inside the park entrance, and sits near an intersection of the roads leading to the park's most famous features: Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. These popular park destinations are all within 15-18 miles (30-35 minutes) from Yosemite West in three different directions. And for winter fun, we enjoy the Badger Pass ski area (only seven miles away).

What makes this house unique

Central air conditioning and central heat, 300 square feet deck.

The best place to shop for groceries until about 10:30 pm is Raley's in Oakhurst. They have an amazing selection of gourmet and locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as a variety of meats, wines and cheeses.. You will lose internet service shortly after leaving Oakhurst along the 41 freeway. AT&T is currently available in the valley and will soon be available in Yosemite West.

Loved It!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay! Very good location, close to Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point Road and Tioga Road. The house is lovely, very well equipped and clean! Judy, the owner was awesome, quick to respond with any questions or concerns. She kindly gave us tips on shopping, restaurants, and hiking trails within the park. We would highly recommend this property and hope to be back again. Thank you.

Cozy cabin with comfortable beds.

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The bathroom was stocked with luxurious products, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the gas push button fireplace! Only complaint is that the sectional couch needed to be bolted together.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review, Elizabeth! I'm happy you enjoyed your stay. per your advice, we secured the sofa sections so they don't move around as much anymore. Thanks for staying with us!

Car: necessary

Inside the park gates, and centrally located between three of the most popular park destinations, Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, our rental is the perfect basecamp for exploring the park.

Access hiking and running trails right from the neighborhood. Just ask for directions on some of our favorites! Plus, Badger Pass Ski Area, and all the skiing, snowshoeing and other snow play activities are only ~7 miles away in the winter.

1) MIST TRAIL. Significant effort depending on how far you go, but the most intimate and spectacular trail I’ve ever seen. Crowded but fantastic. If you are ambitious you can go all the way to the top of Half Dome, which takes all day, unfortunately requires a permit, and makes your feet very sore.

2) YOSEMITE FALLS, BRIDAL VEIL FALLS, and GLACIER POINT. These are no effort, and you must do this during your stay.

3) THE MILE TRAIL FROM THE VALLEY FLOOR TO GLACIER POINT. This requires a (two) car shuttle or you have to figure out the tour trolley to take you back to your car. If your knees are good you can take the trail down from Glacier point or (my preference) get a workout by walking up. NOT RECOMMENDED: a round trip without the car shuttle. If you have never seen the Valley, it’s a life-changing experience to take this trail down from the top for your first visit.

4) SENTINEL DOME HIKE to the top from the rim. This is relatively easy 2 mile hike, with a slight altitude factor. The road to Glacier Point has to be open, so this isn’t accessible in the winter. Spectacular way to see the high country and the Valley from the top with very little effort.

5) GLACIER POINT DOWN THE PANORAMA TRAIL. Amazing views. You can go downhill to anywhere you want to turn around. Or go all the way down the Mist Trail to the Valley with a car shuttle, or even climb Half Dome from Glacier Point, to Panorama Trail then return to the Valley via the Mist Trail. This is probably easier than going from the Valley to top of Half Dome and back to Valley.

6) HIKE FROM HAPPY ISLES TO MIRROR LAKE. I’m not much of a fan of this, it’s completely flat and easy and if you’ve never been to the Valley it’s spectacular.

7) WALK ALL THE WAY UP FROM THE VALLEY FLOOR TO SEE THE TOP OF YOSEMITE FALLS. Long dusty difficult hike not for the faint of heart. If you really want a test, hike to the top of El Capitan.

8) YOSEMITE VILLAGE, YOSEMITE LODGE, AND CURRY VILLAGE. Food, mountain shops, junk stores, ice cream, Ansel Adams art, books, various hotels.

9) MAJESTIC YOSEMITE HOTEL. This is worth a look, it costs a small fortune to stay a night, but you can stroll around for nothing. Consider Sunday brunch buffet if you want to get a big feed and maybe drink.
