Discover the tropical wonderland of Kamaole Sands. Across the street from Kamaole Beach III, this 15-acre property is filled with ponds, waterfalls, manicured green lawns, and exotic tropical flowers. Relax by one of the two heated pools, soak in the hot tub, or enjoy a game of tennis or ping pong. There is also an exercise room in case you want to work out while on your vacation to Maui.

The Kamaole Sands is also located in an ideal location on the boarder of Kihei and Wailea. Walk across the street to Kamaole Beach Park III (a popular family-friendly beach that is lifeguarded). Drive north up South Kihei Rd for a couple minutes and you will pass countless dining options, surf shops, grocery stores, and white sand beaches. If you drive south for five minutes you will be in Wailea, home to golf courses, five-star resorts, and high-end shopping.

This two-bedroom two-bathroom 1257 square foot condo is very spacious and can sleep up to 6 guests! There is a queen bed in the master bedroom, twins in the second bedroom, and a pull out sofa sleeper in the living room. The condo is split level, with one bedroom upstairs and one bedroom downstairs. A private lanai overlooks the tropical grounds.

This condo has a fully equipped kitchen, built in washer/dryer, air conditioning in the living room, and free WiFi.

We wanted to add to the "Disappointed and disgusted review" as there was a group of us traveling with the person who wrote it. We attempted to work with the rental agency, who in turn tried to work with the owner. It wasn't mentioned in the original review that the rental agency came out and took photographs of all issues. We were told the owner was contacted and was willing to offer $280 back. After leaving the HONEST review about his place, the owner withdrew his offer. We were told that they were upset with the review had been posted and "it didn't help our case." On 4-12-16, we received an email from the President of Condominium Rentals of Hawaii. I was shocked at what he wrote & the false accusations he made AS THE PRESIDENT! When the owner of this unit was not willing to reimburse us for a 1-2 night stay, we looked into disputing SOME of the total charge with the company. The President accused us of disputing ALL of the charges, which was never the case and his employee did know this. We have written documentation of this. The President accused us of trying to take advantage of the his rental agency. IN NO WAY did we try do to this. If we were trying to do it, we WOULD Have disputed the entire charge, WHICH we DID NOT. We offered to talk on the phone with the President, and he refused and said the matter was closed ( a word which he underlined). We have no words for all that has happened with this incident. It all could have been resolved so easily. The damage and safety issued with the condo were very clear. Photographs were taken by his company (which they will not turn over to us.) Instead the President of a company makes accusations that are not true and is not willing to work with us besides the original offer of $280. I am an honorable person and have been a police officer for over 18 years. I treat criminals with more respect than I received from this President. It was completely disrespectful.Travelers beware. Do your research. I can only hope that travelers read our reviews, the President changes how he treats people and that the owner makes changes to his unit. We have spent over a month trying to resolve this matter. We have never wrote a bad review on VRBO before and now we have written three on this vacation alone (though VRBO won't post them all.) Obviously we felt it was important enough to spend a little more time to get the word out.

Owner's Response: Rather than get into a long dissertation on the whole story with this particular guest, we will just state that there are two sides to every story. While we strive for 100% guest satisfaction, we were unable to meet our goal with this particular party. Worked for us & has nice view!

The property is fine. It was clean & stocked with things needed to get through the first couple days. It's close to stores & restaurants. Even close to the beach!!

The drier didn't work the best, but it worked. It is not fancy or updated, but it fit our budget.

My biggest issue was the beds... Worst beds I've slept on in a LONG time. They need some upgrades & fixes here, but over all it worked fine for my family, as we weren't there too much except when the kids got too sunburnt to go outside till dark... Then we hit the pool!

Things left by other people that were broken & took up space in the closet. But having the chairs was nice.

Disappointed and disgusted

We have been to Maui several times but this was the first time we stayed in Kihei and this resort. Much to say but will make it simple! Be careful where you stay!

pros: location, pool, View from lanai, landscaping, easy walk to town

Cons: the entire condo! In short had we actually viewed this place in person (besides online photos) we would have not stayed here, let alone paid what we did

1. Condo so outdated

2. Not stocked except for plates, bowls, cups and pans

3. Condo was very dirty: rusty showers, dirty floors, dirty dishes in cabinet, dust bunnies, stuff on floor, dirty/rusty washing machine, showers nozzles are good if u are under 5'4, one shower nozzle basically broken, dirty curtains, small kitchen, short twin beds (no way could sleep 6 comfortably), not good if kids like stairs since they are literally in middle of the living room, chipped paint, dirty/stained white walls, stained pillows, disgusting stain on mattress pads, broken bathroom towel rack and dirty doors to name a few. Both bathroom fans kept going out and they looked really dirty. We called maintenance and they had to remove both bc 1- both were installed wrong and 2- per the maintenance guy, they should have started a fire bc hadn't been cleaned in over 10 years. No replacement fans available either until later in week. There is a work out room, but it was very dated and dirty.

It seems we found something else wrong every day we stayed. We went to rental company and a rep came out and took photos of the problems and just overall "grossness" of the place. At this point we don't know what type of compensation, if any, we will get.

I would not recommend this unit at all unless some major upgrades and full clean is done.

Thank God for the location and pool, though pool is closed today because of a function. Disappointing because only one pool.

I did talk to another couple at the pool who have stayed here in different units each time. They said there are some beautiful ones here. Unfortunately we definitely didn't get one of them.

We did read the one review of this place and were impressed. I am thinking their review got posted for the wrong unit.

We have contacted the rental company for compensation. We would have never paid for this unit, especially what the owner charged.

First timers to Maui

Overall we were very happy with this lovely condo. Building 5 is at the back of the complex so very quiet and had a lovely view from the lanai of the pool, gardens and ocean in the distance. We never heard our neighbors or any traffic as the road was a distance away. The grounds of the complex were immaculately kept and the pool was large and there were always lots of lounge chairs to relax on. The children enjoyed the shave ice served at the poolside snack bar and the large size was huge. The location of Kamaole Sands is at the north end of Kihei which we were very happy with as it was close to Wailea and had some of the best beaches across the road and a few minutes drive away as well. Keawakapu Beach was our favourite. The condo had lots of boogie boards,snorkle gear and beach chairs and towels for our use which we thouroughly enjoyed. We also enjoyed the luau at the Wailea Marriott and my husband and daughter took a Discover Hawaii tour to Hana which he said was the highlight of his visit to Maui. Both were booked through Aloha Conciege at the resort. We ate in mostly and used the bbq's several times without ever having to wait as there were lots on the property. Shopped at Foodland on Kihei road but found it pricey. Safeway was five min. further away up on hwy 31 but had better prices and sellection. We also picked up our initial groceries at Costco when we landed at the airport as you pass right by it. The unit was well stocked with all dishes and utensils etc. It even had a blender which I was able to make fruit smoothies in. The rooms were spacious and stayed relatively cool. We tried not to use the air conditioning during the day and got a nice cross breeze from the lanai thru to our front door. We did use the air conditioning at night while we slept as especially the second floor bedroom was very warm. We had very hot and humid weather the entire time which I imagine is typical for July. Overall loved this condo and location and will recommend it to others.
