Lovely Beach Cottage With View Of Channel, Park, & Lighthouse.
average rating of 4.9375 based on 16 reviews

Enjoyed our visit to the Beach St Cottage - ready to go back.

  • 5 of 5

The Beach St Cottage really suited our needs. The 4 bedrooms and 2 baths was more than enough room for our family of 8 which included our daughter's 18 month old son and her boyfriend. The lower level has a bedroom, bath and kitchen/living room combo area. This gave my daughter a place with our grandson separate from everyone else when he needed to take naps or have quiet time. The upstairs had plenty of room for everyone to gather for social time and we loved hanging out on the deck. The kitchen was very well stocked and we used to grill for a couple of dinners. Jeff was very good to work with and always helpful. As good as everything was with the house, the best thing was the location. We could walk a minute down the street and watch boats come in and out of the channel connecting Lake Muskegon to Lake Michigan. We could see Lake Michigan and the lighthouse from the deck. There was a great playground across the street for our grandson to play on which he did 2-3 times a day. The beach was a short walk from the house and it was a great beach to relax on. There was so much room, you never felt crowded next to others.

We ate at the Deck, located on the beach and an easy walking distance, twice and really enjoyed it. We also ate at Hank's Tavern and it was very good as well. The first night we ordered from Scribb's Pizza and it was good as well. There are 2 craft breweries in Muskegon (Unruly and Pigeon Hill) and we tried both. The beer was very good at each of them, but we enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of Pigeon Hill the best. While at Pigeon Hill we ordered pizza and sandwiches from Topshelf which is next door. You are able to pick up your food from Topshelf and bring it over to the brewery. If you like craft beer and want some for the house, go by Ghezzi's Market. They have a great selection.

As far as activities, we tried several: USS Silverside Submarine and Museum which is on the channel and walking distance from the house; we also went to the USS LST 393. Both were good experiences and a good value. We spent a day at Michigan's Adventure. A good park and again a good value. The water park had plenty to do from the 18 month old to the older kids and adults. There were also several good roller coasters in the park itself. We played Putt Putt golf at Putter's Creek. They also have reasonably priced kayaks to rent, but we couldn't fit that in.

In short, everyone had a great time and ready to go back.

Owner's Response: Thank you John for that wonderful review! I am so glad that you and your family had such a great time! It really sounds like you took advantage of many of the fun things there are to do in Muskegon as well as some of the great places to eat! I know I have a bias opinion, but I think Muskegon and especially Pere Marquette Beach is one of the most beautiful places on earth! There are many attractions to keep you busy year around to match the changing of the seasons such as the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex, State Parks etc., but when summer hits there is no better place in the world than Pere Marquette Beach and Lake Michigan period! Please come back and visit as soon as you can. You definitely are the type of people I love to accommodate! Thanks again, Jeff V.

Super location; superior accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was exactly as represented! Great location convenient to everything! The property was spotlessly clean, neat, well-equipped, and ready for us. We spent a lot of time on the deck relaxing and enjoying the view. Despite the beach traffic during the day nights were very quiet and we all slept soundly and comfortably. Owner did a great job communicating; made sure we felt welcomed and had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

Great cottage and location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (11 including parents, adult children, and their families, including four children aged 2-7) stayed here for a long weekend and had a great time. The rental was great, a perfect size for our group, well maintained, and relaxing! Jeff was an awesome host and we felt more than welcome. This area was such a surprise to our family as we have traveled all over Michigan and didn't even know this area was here, BEAUTIFUL beaches, lighthouses, and parks. Our long weekend wasn't enough to try all the nearby restaurants and activities and we plan to be back again soon!

Enjoyed the balcony on the 2nd floor and the fact that it had stairs leading to the lawn/driveway. First floor bedroom was a plus.

Relaxing and fun, GREAT LOCATION!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the beach! Our location was easily accessible to so many things. We (4 sibling couples) spent a lot of time on the deck facing the park across the street and in the side yard visiting with each other and watching the sunsets at Lake Michigan! We also had a hotdog & s'more roast on the beach, walked along the channel and out to the breakwater pier and south channel pier. Jeff was accommodating and helpful with anything we might need with regard to the house and our time in Muskegon. The house is set off from the main beach traffic, yet walkable to the beach. The area is safe and the Muskegon Parks department does a good job of keeping the park and the beach clean! In town we enjoyed seeing the Hackley house, Old Fire Barn and Hackley Library as well as a drive down Jefferson street (between Southern Ave and Laketon) to see the old victorian homes. The farmers Market was nice, the musical fountain in Grand Haven and Mr. Scrib's pizza (the best around!) ended our time on a good note. We had wanted to visit the Milwaukee Clipper but it is only available for tours on Sat & Sun and we looked into it on Monday! The Maritime Museum is within walking distance right down the road. There is plenty more to do, we just enjoyed hanging out and catching up wth each other! One of the siblings from Minnesota took the Lake Express Ferry over from Milwaukee to Muskegon - so convenient. We were able to drop them off at the ferry terminal (2 miles down the road) and get back in plenty of time to wave to them on the ferry by walking to the channel from the house. A great send off! Location is everything and this is a GREAT LOCATION!

Owner's Response: Oh Wow! Thanks for the great review and kind words! Listening to everything you did and all the different places/things you mentioned, I do believe that you should be employed by the Muskegon Chamber of Commerce and/or Muskegon Visitors bureau! I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself and welcome you back anytime you desire! Thanks again, Jeff

Recommended Beach House

  • 5 of 5

Home was clean and inviting. Owner was quick to please and meet our requests. Property is across the street from a nice park with adequate parking for visitors. There's room at the property for 2 vehicles in the garage and 2 in the driveway. Lake Michigan beach, Lighthouses, channel, submarine are all within walking distance. Warmer water and a nice beach on Muskegon Lake are a 5 minute drive away. Definitely recommended!
