Welcome Aboard! “The Boathouse” is a beautiful, waterfront cottage on Mona Lake. The 4 bedroom, 2 full bathroom cottage is updated and modern, with the feeling of being on a large yacht. Nautically inspired design, and yachtsman like touches, will inspire you to take the helm, drop anchor and enjoy a vacation like no other. On the shores edge there is a deck so close to the water you will swear you are riding on the aft of your personal yacht. The hot tub is available year round, relax in the warm water and enjoy the beautiful view. Winter is a great time to visit, Muskegon’s winter sports complex is a short drive. Enjoy X-Country skiing, or try your skills on the luge, then come back, jump in the spa and relax. Celebrate the sunrise and the sunset on our 2021 Bennington pontoon, included in your stay, (pontoon is only available June 1st through October 25th) the perfect way to let all the landlubber worries fade away. The “Boathouse” has 4 bedrooms, 1 on the main level and 3 upstairs. Two of the upstairs quarters have balconies to relax and take in the lake breezes. There’s also a “head” on each floor with stand up showers, bath and hand towels are provided. The galley has all of your cooking and dining essentials to make delicious meals for your crew. Gather around the butcher block island to share fish stories or sit around our lakeside fire pit and reminisce about your memories of the past. We invite you to “set sail” on a vacation destination like no other, area attractions include Michigan’s Adventure theme park, world class beaches, beautiful Lake Michigan, gourmet restaurants, historic submarine, light houses, musical fountains, zip lines, and ice luges all await. I wish there was some shampoo and body soap inside the property, but overall, it was a wonderful stay. Great location, the pontoon and kayaks were great, the hot tub was pleasant and the weekend we had here was a good one!

Please read entire post*The hosts were very receptive and answered our requests very quickly. The house was clean and well equipped.Decor was nicely done, very contemporary.The pontoon boat worked great for us.All that being said, we felt the area was not very desirable. There was not a lot to do in the Muskegon area, except for the great beach at Lake Michigan. The neighborhoods and businesses were run down in the area or were closed and out of business. We traveled to Grand Haven for family outings, Mona lake itself did not seem very clean for water sports such as swimming, floating, or playing at the shoreline with little children.

This cottage was sparkling clean and comfortably furnished. Owners were available at all hours to answer our questions and help us troubleshoot the hot tub temp. We definitely look forward to coming back again!

The host was very cordial and prompt with communication. He was also very accommodating to needs that we found out after booking. We needed eight single beds and he offered to purchase two blow-up mattresses to accommodate us. I thought that went above and beyond. The picture on the site of the hot tub overlooking the lake is not accurate. If you take the cover off the hot tub, the cover blocks the view of the lake while you're in the hot tub. The pontoon was beautiful. We didn't know enough to ask about the weight limit on the pontoon, so the eight adults there could not go on the pontoon together, which was very disappointing. There were a lot of bees and mosquitoes. The home was clean in all areas except if you looked up! There were a lot of cobwebs and dead bugs on the ceiling. Check out was very easy as we were only required to run the dishwasher and take out the trash, and they took care of everything else. I know this is a mixed bag of a review, but I felt it important to share the good and the bad.

Thank you for your feedback and for recognizing that we went above and beyond to accommodate your group, including purchasing additional sleeping accommodations specifically for your stay. We’d like to clarify two points for future guests. Our pontoon is Coast Guard rated for up to 10 people, but like every boat, it also has a maximum total weight capacity. Depending on the combined weight of passengers, that limit may be reached before the 10-person maximum. Safety always comes first. The hot tub photo is also accurate. We added a cover lift for our guests’ convenience. Some guests enjoy leaving the raised cover as a windbreak, while it can also be moved completely out of the way for an unobstructed view of Mona Lake. This is a true Michigan lakefront experience—private dock, pontoon boat included, kayaks, paddleboards, hot tub and fire pit. Seasonal insects are naturally part of waterfront living, although we appreciate the ceiling comments and have addressed them. For guests wanting boating, fishing, paddling and relaxing right on beautiful Mona Lake, this property offers an experience a hotel simply cannot replicate. Fortunately, our many, many five-star reviews speak for themselves. Every now and then, even going above and beyond earns you a four.

Great weekend getaway

Perfect place for a family weekend. Home is extremely clean, kitchen stocked with everything you need to cook. The view is great and being able to enjoy cruising on the pontoon was terrific.

Relaxing Week at The Lake

Lovely property with plenty to do (the boat was a huge hit!). The backyard with the view of the lake was so relaxing. Everything was as advertised. Would definitely stay again!

Perfect family get-away

Loved our stay. Owners were very accommodating, house was perfect for teenagers and older family members who needed a main floor bedroom. House had all we needed to cook in, and location is great for going out. Pontoon was perfect for fun and relaxing. Highly recommend!

Nice house right on the lake

Had a great vacation with a house right on Mona Lake. Loved having access to the pontoon anytime we wanted. Short drive to get groceries or go out to eat.

Lake House Family Vacation

Our family enjoyed being on Mona Lake at Norton Shores and the amenities included with the house....Pontoon Boat, Kayaks and Hot Tub.. Also enjoyed watching the family of eagles from across the lake.

Great place for family trip!

Property was exactly as pictured. Perfect spot for a family getaway woth our friends and family from Cjicago. Two families with 4 kids and the place was perfect. Good location on the lake and close to any stores (Meijer, sbux, etc). Very nice boat was a nice benefit also!

Long weekend in Muskegon

What a great house and property. We enjoyed the boat and hot tub. The property was close to the beach and we enjoyed hanging outside as well. Would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a place in and around Muskegon

Beautiful Beach House!

Very clean and stocked with everything you need. Hot tub was great especially after a day of X-country skiing. Beds were comfortable and more than enough room for all. Can't wait to book for a summer getaway!

Lovely beach themed cottage near Grand Haven

The Beach House on Mona Lake was a perfect spot for our family vacation! It was newly remodeled and decorated with a lovely beach vibe. The brand new included pontoon boat was a fantastic bonus as were the Kayaks, fire pit, hot tub and lovely outdoor area. The lake was easy to navigate and not overly crowded.
