Aloha and Welcome to Hale Hou Hoaloha come and enjoy your Hawaiian holiday in a lovely, spacious, light filled home all your own. In creating this vacation home it was important for the owner to build a place that could be enjoyed by all, including those with limited mobility. Thus, this home is fully accessible with lots of extra special features for those with special needs.

When you enter this hale you will notice the lovely tropical furnishings and décor, shiny African mahogany floors, large fully equipped gourmet kitchen w/ top of the line appliances, and dining area. Spacious living room w/cable T.V inside hutch. Please note that internet is not currently available at this home.

The bedrooms consist of a four poster queen size bed in the master bedroom with it's own master bathroom. First guest room has two single beds and second guest room has one queen size bed. Guest bathroom is conveniently located between both bedrooms. This home also features indoor laundry room with front load washer & dryer, and a 400 sq.ft. lanai where you can enjoy out door dining and take in your ocean views.

This hale is located on the beautiful Puna coast a mere block from the ocean, bringing you our island sunshine and trade breezes.

Had a great stay in your house. It was spacious, clean, and updated. You mention an ocean view in your description however, the view from the lanai was not pictured and it was awesome. Neighborhood was quiet and friendly and walks were enjoyed daily. Really enjoyed the jungle areas across the street from three sides of the house. The birds lulled us to sleep and greeted us in the morning. Would absolutely stay here again. Very tranquil and perfect for a close family that enjoys each others company out on the lanai.

Clean, stylish,inviting, complete, everything we needed!

The house is quite beautiful and well cared for, with nice touches everywhere. There’s a view of the ocean from the large lanai. Large bedrooms & closet space; large bathrooms; great laundry room (buy your own soap) and awesome kitchen!

Good neighborhood, bad management

Went to real estate office, which no longer exists, and was given contact number. Right person but did not return calls. Grass needed mowed. Neighbors very close and with no A/C you hear all conversations, also means you must be quiet around house. Trash doesn’t get picked up. Numerous items broken (lamps, light bulbs, trim over French doors, etc). Very remote. Expect to drive a minimum of 30 minutes to everywhere except Pahoa. Most big sites at least two hours drive. Recent lava flows shut down beach parkway and Check point was at intersection next to house. Traffic was significant with evacuation and realtor refused to relocate us (by not returning calls and spoke prior to trip after call service contacted him, Dane) Had to leave early and couldn’t get return call or any partial refund. Closest carry out grocery ‘Da store’ is way too expensive, you must go to Pahoa or plan a Costco run in Kona (all day endeavor). Had to supply our own toilet paper. Slept six adults comfortably, but don’t expect hotel beds or bedding. Chickens wake with sun and that’s around 5:30 am every morning. Had a good trip, but not because of the house. Beware and plan. Price reflects location and the attention you get from company. Nearby coast is about a 150 yard walk and all rocks with rough surf. Do not expect to have any ocean play at house. Rainy side of the island so be prepared for rain at least once every 24 hours. Hope this helps. Just trying to manage expectations for first timers like us.

Owner's Response: We hope that other guests will consider the five star reviews from all of the other reviewers and the reasons this person gave a one star review. In response to the items mentioned: Our office moved in May 2018, a week into the start of the devastating Leilani eruption on the lower east rift. If only Pele had sent us a memo! The office space is mostly used for storage, and it had been years since a guest turned up at our old office. We do apologize for not letting you know, but we had no reason to think it was necessary. The info binder at the house explains that trash is hauled by the housekeepers in between reservations and gives the locations of transfer stations where trash can be dropped off during your stay. If you had found items that needed repair, we wish you had mentioned them any of the times we spoke with you. We have a team of handymen on call 7 days a week. As you discovered, this area is rural, lush and zoned for agriculture. Guests choose it specifically for these reasons. Your welcome letter states that we supply starters of items like toilet paper, kitchen sponges, laundry detergent, and so on that are usually enough for a shorter stay and asks that guests resupply themselves if they use up what we provide. If we had to pay someone to do shopping for guests, we wouldn’t be able to keep our rates so low. The Hawaiian Beaches area has not been threatened by the Leilani eruption. As we explained several times, we have been waiving our cancellation policy and issuing refunds for reservations in the affected areas, but that doesn’t apply to areas that are not being threatened. The only road available to evacuees was near the house you were renting, and we are sorry that you were unconvinced by the traffic noise as families drove by with their most prized possessions just days before they lost their homes and everything in them. This review illustrates some very important points. Travelers should always research their destination before making a reservation to make sure it meets their needs. They should read the property listing carefully so they understand what amenities are available and where the house is located. They should read information that is provided both before hand and at the property. A one star review can really hurt a rental and basing one on things that a host has communicated or an inconvenience from an unusual situation that a host has no control over is unfair and in poor taste.

Absolutely beautiful and breathtakingly gorgeous

Visiting from Oahu for a graduation in Pahoa and the convenience of having this beautiful house only 10 minutes away from family and charter school was a win-win for everyone. It was definitely a home away from home. For the 4 days and 3 nights myself and son stayed was a great relaxation from the busy lifestyle on Oahu. I would highly recommending this place to anyone staying in this area. Price per night was also another amazing part of the package getaway. Although we were unable to go to the beach or enjoy the house amenities completely, it was a pleasant stay regardless. Mahalo for sharing this beautiful home!

Beautiful home, comfortable, clean, great location

We made many memories while staying in this home. We walked to the ocean and sat out on the lanai daily. We were soothed by the rainforest wildlife at night. We are already talking about coming back. This was easy to book, easy to locate, easy to enter. Everything about this transaction was easy. Thanks for everything.

Best Christmas Ever!!

Hale Hou Hoaloha was everything I had read in previous reviews and more! This house fit my family and our vacation perfectly, it was comfortable for all five of us and the location was outstanding. We especially enjoyed coffee and breakfast every morning on the lanai watching the waves crashing on the rocks across the street.

We had our Christmas pineapple decorated and I was able to cook a festive dinner for the family on Christmas night. We found the location to be very easy to find, and quiet and peaceful. We took several walks in the neighborhood and found the residents delightful and eager to share information with us about the area.

Thank you so much for allowing my family to have the best vacation we have ever shared! Mahalo.

Hawaiian Beaches is a quiet residential neighborhood about 20 miles south of historic Hilo town on Hawaii Island. It’s a laid back and inviting area where neighbors are out walking most days. The shops and restaurants of Pahoa Village are 10 minutes away. Drive 15 minutes south to Kapoho where you can swim in a thermally heated hot pond or snorkel in protected reefs. See recent lava flows from the Kilauea Volcano at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, less than an hour away.
