About the property

Two Bedrooms and a short walk or bike ride to famous Venice Beach

This lovely 1911 Craftsman original is perfectly situated in the heart of Venice. Less than 2 blocks away from Abbot Kinney Boulevard where there is no shortage of critically acclaimed cafes, bars and restaurants; not to mention the seemingly endless number of unique and intriguing boutiques and shops.

It’s also just a short walk or bike ride to the sand and sea and to world famous Venice Beach Boardwalk where you can enjoy the local cultural flavor first hand. Cycle up to Malibu or all the way down to Redondo Beach on the bike path where only sand separates you from the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

About the rental-

Just inside the front gate you enter a diverse garden where we cultivate a few organic fruits and vegetables. If you find these tempting, help yourself!

Stepping up to the enclosed porch, that laid-back California vibe engulfs you. Two 3 speed beach cruisers, beach chairs and boogie boards are standing by! An Eliptical is also at your disposal should you want a workout beyond all the outdoor activities available.

Upon entering the front unit of the duplex you step into the living room and note that the floor plan flows into the dining room with it's original craftsman built-ins. Hardwood floors run throughout, wood burning fireplace, beautifully appointed furnishings, accessories, and a distinct art book collection will confirm that you have found your home away from home.

The first of the two bedrooms is off the living room. It features the original deep pocket door, a Keetsa organic queen bed, a built-in for clothes and a closet.

The second bedroom is off the dining room and features an organic king mattress, a dresser, a closet and extensive shelving with a varied book collection.

The large kitchen is ready for preparing a quick and simple meal or a more gourmet spread as it is fully equipped with professional stainless steel appliances that include a Wolfe range, Viking refrigerator and a Bosch dishwasher (Whole Foods and Erewhon Markets are just minutes away!). All cookware, cooking utensils and basic condiments are provided as well.

At the other end of the very spacious kitchen is the laundry area hidden behind folding doors. Across from the washer and dryer is a round table with 4 chairs providing another place to eat, work or hang out.

Moving out the kitchen’s french doors you enter the very private back garden. First onto the deck where you can lounge, barbecue and dine al fresco.

As the sun goes down you’ll likely migrate to the very back of the yard to sit and enjoy the wood burning fire ring - perhaps with the perfect glass of wine!

This home will certainly appeal to the discerning traveler seeking an alternative to a boutique hotel.

About Danielle Peretz

I came to Los Angeles to attend UCLA in 1984. I've lived all over the city and decided to buy in Venice because I wanted to be close to the ocean. I was also very attracted to the small neighborhood feel that is inherently Venice.

Danielle Peretz purchased this house in 1998

Why Danielle Peretz chose Venice

I chose this particular property because of it's size, warmth and charm AND it's location.

What makes this house unique

After a fun filled day on the sand, on the bike path, or shopping and dining on Abbot Kinney or Rose Avenue, the private and peaceful deck and back yard are an inviting way to wind down and engage in your favorite mode of relaxation.

Perfect!

Beautiful, cozy home with all essentials...down to citrus juicer. I stayed in home with husband & mother-in law. Beds were comfortable, charming home with fireplace, and many cozy lounge spots to also relax & read or converse w/each other. Perfect location to Abbott Kinney & just 2 blocks away was the best organic market I've ever been too, Erewhon.

Without question, if I stayed in LA again, this would be my first choice.

Thank you to the owner, Danielle, for your warm hospitality!

Wonderful Venice craftsman bungalow.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this lovely house for a week in February of 2015. The owner, Danielle, was a perfect host- there to set you up when you arrive and available afterwards if needed but not intrusive. The location is fantastic, a short walk to Abbott Kinney, and a pleasant, 15 minute walk to the beach. The house is located on a peaceful and quiet street, away from the bustle of the Venice Beach boardwalk area. The listing and photos are very accurate- the house has everything you need for a short or extended stay (the bicycles were great to have), and has lots of little extras that aren't in the listing- like a yoga mat, chin up bar, amazing art book collection, great book selection in bedroom, even a few bundles of firewood to get you started. Overall, the house got a lot of sun and was brighter than I had expected based on the photos. The mattresses are very comfortable, the bathroom had a skylight over the shower/tub- and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The backyard is a tranquil oasis- a great place to lounge, dine, work, read a book. I loved having a working fireplace in the living room and a fire pit in the secluded backyard- perfect for chilly evenings or mornings. I should note that the house is actually part of a duplex, and the owner lives in an adjoining house/apartment in the rear of the property, so one may hear the occasional muffled sounds through the kitchen wall. But this is not intrusive, and the house is very private and extremely quiet otherwise. I strongly recommend this place, and hope to stay there again. FIVE STARS.

Adorable house, perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I come to LA every December with our two children, and we've stayed in many different apartments and houses. This house in Venice was our absolute favorite! We now hope to stay here every year. When we arrived, the house was bright and beautiful, with lots of throw blankets and clean towels, and the garden was great for the kids. The dining table is big enough to host friends for dinner, and the living room was very comfy with a piano to play. We were only a block away from Gjelina, one of the best restaurants in LA, and we could easily walk to cafes, shops and the beach. Street parking was incredibly easy, and we often got a spot RIGHT outside the house. Danielle was friendly and sweet. Five stars, highly recommended.

Awesome location, awesome house!!

  • 5 of 5

Ok, this was my first VRBO, hence a lot of trepidation. Danielle was very easy to work with and left nothing to chance. Everything was spotless when we arrived. The house was much bigger than anticipated since it was only a 2/1. It has a big kitchen, living room and dinning room, but the backyard was the best part. I had a family of 10 over for Thanksgiving and there was plenty of room. We ended the night having a great time around the firepit in the backyard. If you rent this house, you are literally 2 minutes from the heart of Abbot Kinney, but in your own oasis. I will definitely return.

Fabulous Home Away From Home!!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from 5 days in Venice, and this home made our trip very special! Danielle was so gracious and welcoming and we didn't see her after our walk-through introduction to the house, but she was always just a call away if we needed anything. It is perfectly located just a quiet block from Abbott-Kinney in a fabulous neighborhood where all the homes are million dollar homes and you can see movie stars riding their bikes (which we did) or the more colorful local "celebrities" that makes Venice and Venice Beach such a desirable place to live or vacation. The house is fully equipped with lots of candles and the photography and art book collection is amazing. The kitchen is totally tricked out and equipped for any gourmet, but the most wonderful part is the garden/patio area. We had local friends come over on several occasions and they were blown away. One night we had a fire in the fire pit (all the wood was already there and ready to go) and we had a fabulous time enjoying the lush garden, the cool weather (we're from Austin, Tx) and the fire (who would have thought that we'd be having a campfire in Venice)! On Sunday we woke up to a New York Times on the front porch and honestly, we didn't want to leave...ever!

I can highly recommend this home if you are planning to stay in Venice for a few days, or for a few months. You'll be glad you did!!
