Luxury Sonoma Cottage: Sanctuary with Pool! Close to Square & Wineries

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Nestled down a little country dirt lane, our cottage named after William Wordsworth's own Dove Cottage, is a calming sanctuary in the middle of the Wine Country, close to Sonoma Plaza. It is a completely private residence with it's own solar-heated pool, large private deck for entertaining, dining, and relaxing. It has a lush, wrap-around garden, and a modern, clean, minimal interior space. It is perfectly located close to Sonoma Square for the best in fine dining and access to some of the best wineries in the world.

Our cottage is perfect for a couple's romantic weekend away, or a fun weekend for a small family with kids enjoying the pool (with automatic cover- so very safe) and Traintown just around the corner. *We do not typically heat the pool December- February due to the cold temperatures, it is almost impossible to get the pool warm enough to enjoy.

Besides being a beautiful little getaway, we have also put thought into the details: Dove Cottage has air-conditioning/heating and features a beautiful custom luxury kitchen. It has two Sony HD TV's with complimentary Netflix and Cable, Full Lightening speed Wi-fi, and unique European design details such as a sliding custom barn-door and two Dutch-style doors. And the back master suite has french doors that lead out to your private deck to enjoy the evening sunsets or the fresh morning air.

Our cottage is close enough to the Square for easy access and proximity yet has a wonderful rural setting that allows you to simultaneously feel away from it all. We have tried to create a space that we love to be in as a family, or as a romantic getaway, and we have put a lot of thought into the design and flow, and we hope that you will love it, and that it will make your time in this beautiful part of the world even more enjoyable and memorable.

About Sarah Miles

We are a family with our hearts split equally between San Francisco and London, but the wine country of Sonoma is a heartland all of its own and we have fallen under its spell. Between the beauty of its countryside, the warmth of its residents, and the endless sunny days and long summer nights, there's no more romantic place that we could imagine to escape to and call a home away from home. Perfect, cozy and comfortable spot in Sonoma

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a fantastic time. The cottage is well decorated. The bed was comfortable. We loved sipping coffee and reading on the back deck in the morning. The surroundings were pretty and quiet. Most important to us, though, was how accommodating and responsive Sarah was. Our visit was in question due to the wildfires, and Sarah offered to work with us in a number of ways in case we couldn't make it out. She was also very responsive whenever we had any questions. We would definitely consider staying again if it's available!

Perfect Balance

  • 5 of 5

This is a very charming cottage that is private enough to feel secluded yet close enough to the downtown area that you can walk to restaurants and shops. The very cozy bedroom opens up to a back deck and wonderful heated pool. We had a wonderful time!

Great little getaway in Sonoma

  • 5 of 5

My family (husband and almost 1 year old) had a chance to stay at this property at the beginning of September and found the experience quite lovely.

Prior to your arrival, you receive a packet that gives you the details about the house, anything and everything you need to know about food and wineries in Sonoma (including kid-friendly locations) and in general how to make your experience in their home a positive one.

The house has everything that we needed (including a pack and play and a small high chair). The pool and the backyard were impeccable and the location is perfect - minutes away from downtown Sonoma and 15 minutes to wine country. Additionally, having a washer and dryer in the home made it easy to get keep our laundry at a minimum on our way home. It's also worth noting that the bed in the master bedroom was quite comfy - providing some of the best sleep I've had in a while.

We had to work with the homeowner on one item and she was quick to respond to our call and our asks.

Overall - I found the experience very easy to book, pay for, check in and when we needed help, it was there! Highly recommend!

Perfect Sonoma getaway for couples or a small family

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was beautiful and easily accessible and the host made everything go very smoothly. The vicinity to downtown Sonoma is great and trips to wineries around Napa is an easy drive away. The home was clean and tastefully updated, the beds were comfortable and having a pool was a big plus. The home guide included good local recommendations for restaurants and wineries in the area as well as detailed instructions for everything on the property. I would definitely stay here again. While we had two married couples stay here for the weekend I can see it is a very kid friendly home as well, so if you have young ones I would definitely recommend this property.

The one minor thing to note is that the short driveway road is gravel and can be a bit bumpy so if you have a very low car/sports car you may scrape the bottom as we did in an Uber to the wineries, just something to be aware of.

This was the perfect cottage in Sonoma

  • 5 of 5

We recently rented this home and it was simply perfect. It's a wonderful open layout with a feel good design that feels like you are in a Nancy Meyers movie. The backyard and pool made it all worthwhile! Location to restaurants vineyards made the whole trip easy. I highly recommend this as a place to stay, you won't be disappointed!

Cute but a little strange

  • 3 of 5

We stayed in this little cottage this past weekend. It is sufficient for 4 people. The house is cute but definitely has a strange appointment of detail. The bathroom is definitely a one person room. There is only one small mirror on the back wall (none over the sink), so it isn't easy if you are all trying to get ready and put make up on, do hair etc. As well, there is no place to hang towels, except the one hook for a hand towel. The home wasn't totally clean when we arrived: dirty fridge and smegma on the kitchen counter, as well as dirty hand towels in kitchen and bath and the number of options for replacing those was very slim. The coffee maker was full of old moldy grounds and had old coffee in the reservoir. The kitchen is not well appointed so preparing and serving food is a challenge. As well, you can see the small fridge in the picture. There is no ice available for this house. (When we got there, the freezer was completely frosted over.) You will need a cooler and bags of ice from the store (major hassle). All the pillows and comforters are feather/down, so plan ahead if you are allergic like me. Every drawer in the rooms is filled with stuff so plan to live out of your suitcase. There was a closet in the second bedroom, the one behind the rolling barn door. Unfortunately, they store all of their laundry supplies in the only spot to hang things, and don't provide any hangers anyway. Most of the towels are old and mildewed, although they did provide a newer set of 4 bath towels and one hand towel for bathing.

There is air conditioning that worked really well after we took out the completely clogged air filter in the return.

HOWEVER, the yards are just perfect. Relaxing pool and picnic table on deck. The trees and setting are just lovely. It is not walking distance to the square, unless you are up for a good hike. But it is in a fairly convenient location. The bedrooms are nice size and the master has French doors that open to the beautiful backyard and pool.

For the money though, I probably wouldn't book this again unless the owners step up the facility.

Nearest Train
0.3 Miles
Train Town
Car: recommended

Our house is across the street from the Lodge at Sonoma- perfect if you are attending a wedding there. It is about 6 blocks from the square, but it is a long walk.
