About the property

Description (Hawaii Tax IDs:  TA 158-833-4592-01, and GE 158-833-4592-01)

If you are looking for the perfect Escape to Paradise - a beautiful home in just the right spot along the ocean in Oahu - This is it!

This secluded, air conditioned, tastefully furnished, 2500 SF Ka'a'awa home can sleep 6 to 8+ people in 3 bedrooms and a den. One lot from the water's edge and just a 2-minute walk to the local beach park, it is Hawaii as you imagined it - beautiful, lush, tropical, and quiet yet close to so many things. With the ocean in front and mountains in the back this is what Paradise in Hawaii is all about.

You'll have kayaks, boogey boards, 2 bikes and snorkel gear at your disposal. Go kayaking or snorkeling right in front of the house.

And when it comes to relaxing and unwinding you will have plenty of room inside and out with the beautiful, professionally landscaped yard. Stunning vistas and tropical plants surround you from every angle and window.  And those double pane windows and the foliage surrounding the home ensure no road noise bothers you, unlike many other local ocean front properties. Open the upstairs windows and listen to surf break on the reef. Stretch out on the 400 sf covered lanai and let the ocean sounds lull you to sleep.

Located in the quiet and quaint (No Traffic!) village of Kaaawa on the Windward Coast which lies midway between Kaneohe and Laie (the start of the North Shore), you'll be just 2 minutes from Kaaawa Beach Park or Kahana Bay State Park, 5 minutes from Kualoa Ranch and Chinaman's Hat Island and 15 minutes from the world famous Polynesian Cultural Center. You can also go hiking in mountains behind Kaaawa, Crouching Lion and in Kahana Bay State Park. Experience Hawaiian living and customs at Kahana.  See their Cultural Gardens and learn how Hawaiians survived and thrived from the Mountains to the Ocean Reef. Easy calm kayaking in Kahana Stream, one mile away, or in shallow ocean just across the street. No traffic...seriously...this can be a big issue along the North Shore

So if you are looking to have an authentic Hawaiian experience surrounded by ocean, mountains, jungle and beaches, Escape to Paradise is the place for you.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We loved being welcomed with all the goodies:  the fresh pineapple, the chocolates, and bottled water. We are a family of six adults and there was so much room for us to spread out and relax.  We were so appreciative of all the supplies available.,  You thought of our every need, We used it all! - the Kayaks, snorkel gear, beach equipment and more made our trip; so easy and enjoyable,. We are thankful it was so well-labeled and well though out so we didn't have any trouble locating or using it. We also truly enjoyed relaxing on the lanai. It was quiet and serene - taking in all the lush surroundings. The wild chickens were perfect entertainment! We felt we had an awesome experience because of your great tips about where to go for the beach, food and local points of interest. Thanks again for making our vacation a memorable, pleasurable and adventurous experience.

Thank you for such a lovely stay during an important time in our lives - The Wedding of the Century! Your home is lovely and the location is perfect,. If you are ever in Michigan or New Zealand certainly be in touch!  Thank you for being part of making this experience so incredible and memorable for us.  You have such a lovely and welcoming home.  Many hugs and blessings.

Thanks for sharing your home with us!  This was a great place to get together with three generations of our family from the U.S. and Korea. The house is so calm and relaxing.  Thanks also for providing the snorkeling gear - both kids and adults had lots of fun with them. We loved staying on this quieter side of the island and enjoyed the beaches and mountains.  We really appreciate your hospitality and hope to come back.,  Best wishes.

Your Home is Beautiful!  We knew right away this was going to be the perfect vacation home. As we walked up and saw the warm colorful lanai we looked at each other and thought, "Wow!"  A big thank you for opening up your home to us, as we have memories to treasure for the rest of our lives,  Robert and Hilary were gracious and welcoming,  They were both so helpful.  We had so much fun on Oahu, especially snorkeling in Turtle Bay, Hanauma Bay and Sharks Cove.  Thank you for providing the snorkeling gear!  After spending a day in Honolulu as "tourists" it was sooo nice to "come home" to Paradise and relax. Hopefully we'll be able to return soon,  With love and Mahalo,  Don, Yuki, Denise, Dean, Marie and Darren.  PS we admire all your accolades and we thank you for your many years of Service.

Thank you for opening up your beautiful home to us! We have had a wonderful time visiting with our friends and doing a lot of sightseeing and enjoying great food. We have been planning and anticipating this for several months and we weren't disappointed in any way.  Robert was very gracious and he welcomed us and felt right at home immediately.  Time has bone by so quickly but we will remember our time in your beautiful home for many years to come.

Aloha Y'all!  Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with our family,. I think our favorite part was the lanai! We used it many nights to get together with our family from the other house. We did lots of sightseeing and enjoyed being out of the city.

Mahalo, The Barbers, from Georgia.  April, 2016

Mahalo for making us feel so welcome in your beautiful home.  We have enjoyed every minute of our stay here in Hawaii, and your hospitality has been an important part of that!  Our mother served a LDS mission with our father, who has now passed on, at the Laie Temple more than 20 years ago. This was her first time to return since then, and her memories of that wonderful time in their lives have been fulfilled many times over.  All 8 of us have truly enjoyed this past week and we are very appreciative of all you have done for us in making your Paradise available to us. We know that it has been an inconvenience for you.  We thank you for making this week comfortable and memorable!

God has smiled upon you and your family.  Thanks again and Best Wishes.

Aloha! During these four amazing, majestic trip of Hawaii at your gorgeous house it was a blessing. Thank you for this amazing journey. The house is beautiful next to the beach. Hawaii is so beautiful because of this organized house. It was the perfect location with a beautiful scenery of a beach, and a horse ranch. We went to many locations that have many enjoyable shows.  Thank you.  Bless you. Merry Christmas.

What a wonderful place to stay at. It was very comfortable, spacious and relaxing. Thanks for all the little amenities and the assortment of books on Oahu and Hawaii. This place made our stay very enjoyable.  Had a wonderful time at the house - feels like a home. Magical views.  Loved it.

Thanks and Blessings,The Oteros - Oct 2015

Short but great stay.  Weather up and down and we caught a great storm down near the Valley of the Temples. Spent most of our time up on the North Shore - great beaches and roadside food options. Kids loved jumping off the rock at Waimea, though yesterday we had to leave the water for a confirmed shark sighting. Sharks Cove was great for sheltered snorkeling.  Made one trip south.  The scenery was great down to Kaneohe then we cut across to Lanakai.  The Chinese Temple at Valley of the Temples was very peaceful. The house was great - like staying with family. So glad we didn't end up in a hotel. Hope to be back here one day.

The Curls, Beaconsfield, UK. Aug 20-15

We loved the spirit of your home!  Thank you for sharing with us. Everyone felt totally relaxed, refreshed and enjoyed all the outdoor activities in the area. Kayaking and snorkeling were just great.

Many thanks from the Vondrak Family from California and the Czech Republic. I think it is fair to say we have never seen such a beautiful and tastefully decorated vacation home.  This place is truly magical. To future visitors: I really recommend to visit the State Park in Kahana Bay. There's a Hawaiian guy there who will show you around and offer you some fresh fruits from the tree. He's quite a character - you will see him there. Also big thanks to the neighbor up the drive who saved us from a flat tire with his air pump. It's really a lovely neighborhood around here.

Best Wishes, the Vondraks, California and Prague, Czech Rep. Aug 2015

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home! My family and I had the best time and it could not have been in a better place. Again, thank you and Go Navy, beat Army.

Mahalo from The Irving-Neros & The Spearin-Laings  July 2015

The Willoughby Family from NSW, Australia have enjoyed your home immensely. "Escape to Paradise" was warm and welcoming from the moment we entered it. We have had some unforgettable memories here that we will cherish and take back to Australia. We met Kahala from Kahana as you suggested and he generously showed us his garden. We climbed up the mountain and enjoyed the view.  The Kaaawa area is very beautiful and so are its people.  We have soaked up the beautiful Hawaiian atmosphere, soaked up the sun and dipped in it's waters. But the most wonderful memories will be swimming with the Sea Turtles ... wonderful lovely memories.

Had a wonderful time in this well equipped and maintened home. Set back a little from street so did not hear any of the traffic on the Kamehameha highway. Would definitely rent this place again during our next visit to Oahu!

Beautiful interior, thoughtful and well placed

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed the house and would stay again. My parents live near Honolulu so it was the perfect getaway nestled between the Ko'olau mountains and the ocean. The furnishings and art was well placed, beautiful and functional. You can tell it was designed for people who actually live there and not just used to rent out. AC in every room was great. We spent a lot of time cooking in the nice sized kitchen. Also lounged on the lanai enjoying the breeze and talking story. It was perfect.

Owner's Response: Aloha! We are so thrilled to hear that your enjoyed our house and you would love to stay again. Yes, we did design it for us. Several times in a year, we come and stay in our vacation home and renovate if needed. We love the location as well where we can just use our kayaks and boogie boards in the ocean across the home. Mahalo for the great review. We look forward to having you and your friends and family in the future.

Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

It was my first trip to Hawaii with my family and wife's family. This house is just under Koolau Mountains, and the ocean just across the street. Using the kayaks, which are provided by owner, I could enjoy this beautiful scenery for my eyes only. Staying this house was so comfortable, too. The seven days passed so swiftly.

Beautiful house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many Hawaiian rental properties, but this was one of the best. The homeowners have gone above and beyond to make sure the house is exceptionally clean and well appointed; there were many thoughtful touches.

The house is perfectly nestled between 2 other homes and sits back from the busy main road. Though it shares a gravel alley, it has its own driveway that can hold two cars. Despite being near 2 other homes, it is a private tropical oasis. We never saw any of the neighbors for the 10 days we were there. The wrap around porch was by far my favorite spot: the perfect place to sip coffee in the mornings, listening to the birds come to life as the sun rose.

Inside, the house is comfortable and well planned. There is one bedroom downstairs that has a queen bed. Despite not having a/c, it was very cool and comfortable. Upstairs are 2 more bedrooms, both air conditioned. The master suite is huge, with a queen sized bed and sitting area. The closet was big enough to serve as a little "bedroom" for our toddler, and could fit a pack n play and fan. The bathroom has a wet room, with a separate stand up shower and tub. Perfect for families with little kids. We could get the whole family clean in one room! The other bedroom has two full sized beds, an on-suite bathroom and a view of the ocean from the beds. The closet is stocked with toys.

This house clearly belongs to a family that love their little ones. We didn't have to rent any equipment. There are 2 pack n plays, a booster seat, books and games. In the back yard, there's a little shed that has snorkel equipment, bikes, stand up paddle boards, kayaks, water shoes--you name it! All the equipment was organized, clean and disinfected; supplies were also handy for us to return them in the same condition. The kids enjoyed playing soccer in the backyard, chasing geckos and watching the chicken families (we were greeted by 2 mother hens with baby chickens). And, for those that are concerned about island roosters: their crowing did not bother our sleep as the a/c sound drowned them out.

There are several beaches nearby, a couple within walking distance, though walking with small kids is not advisable since the road is busy and has no sidewalk. Depending on the tides, the beaches were calm enough for our 2- and 6 year old. We were at a beach every day.

Cons: the 4th "BR" is the den.

Go to Guadalajara Grill. Mahalo to Robert for being such a kind "Aloha ambassador"!

We are more than thrilled to know that you and your family had the best time. We truly love our vacation home and those that stay with us, we consider our family or in Hawaii we call it Ohana. Till we meet again in the future. Mahalo!

Exquisite Property with Every Amenity Necessary

  • 5 of 5

First off let me say that the property caretakers were absolute gems, Rob and Hilary were flexible with our arrival time and took their time showing us around the property as there was plenty of small things that needed to be pointed out and explained. The home is absolutely beautiful with a huge wrap around porch that we used every single night we were there.

Despite there only being three bedrooms, the home comfortable slept the eight people that were there especially with the fold up mattresses that are provided. The AC units were great and was easy to use and provided the perfect comfortable for myself and my bridal party to get ready in. There were 10 people in the master suite at one time and we all fit in there comfortable with all my makeup artist teams stuff around. Note though that there is only room for 3 cars, 4 if all the cars are compact.

The neighborhood is quiet so don't expect a place to party but the neighbors were nice and didn't bother us even though our games of Uno and Trump got a little competitive. There are plenty of chickens in the large yard next door so expect to see them and hear rustling at night, I woke up after our first night there and I swear I saw 10 chickens hanging out it the trees covering the driveway. Tons of board games for all of us to play, welcome fruit and water. It was an absolute amazing experience, we would stay here again in a heart beat and we are actually considering trying to make is a yearly thing. Part of the group would go fishing every night and caught some good size fish, we enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would recommend this home to anyone that wants to get out of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki but not be too far away from town (without traffic of course!).
