We are Lydia & Dick Bruce, owners of this lovely home, which we have enjoyed for 12 years and now wish to share with anyone who wishes to have their lives enriched by the lively, beautiful experience of spending time in historic Colorado Springs & the surrounding areas. A job change brought us here from South Carolina and we now wish to explore and experience some of the wonders of Arizona's Sonoman Desert, Grand Canyon, & Lake Mead, etc. Please be our guests and enjoy!
Lydia Bruce purchased this house in 2002
We had traveled to Colorado for years to snow ski the world famous ski resorts, but never dreamed we would have a chance to live here one day. When the job opportunity came up, we quickly moved first to the mountains nearby and, after 2 years, decided we were ready to enjoy the city life. It took us a year to find a home and development with world class views in an upscale area that we would enjoy, and we now pass along some of that experience to you to enjoy!
We fell in love with our home the first minute we saw the glorious views from every room on the back side of the home. The layout of the home appealed to us tremendously with its 10 foot ceilings throughout and bright sunny rooms. The best part, though, is watching the sun set from the home or deck, in a rainbow of beautiful colors over the mountains, and turning them briefly into those same blues, purples, reds, pinks & oranges. The neighbors are ultra friendly and so welcoming and ready to say hello!
Set-up worked well for our family. Teens had the downstairs space to themselves and enjoyed the hot tub. Deck was a great place to relax and take in the view. Neighborhood was very safe and nice and amenities very close by.
It was a beautiful home, great views, lots of space and in a safe, wonderful location. However , it is 2 1/2 baths and only 3 bedrooms- there is an office space that is completely open to the hall, kitchen and living room with a couch I guess they are counting as a fourth room. My parents had to stay home due to my Aunt having an emergency tripple by pass - if they had come the kids would have had to share a bath - with us ior them - that is why 3 bath vs 2 1/2 would have made a difference in me choosing when booking - but since they didn't come it worked out . My son and daughter would have had to share a room or sleep in the open due to it say 4 bedrooms and only being 3 -- we loved the house and since my parents didn't come it worked out but that isn't what is listed . The shower in the second bath also didn't work .
The house was very nice and in a very nice neighborhood. Easy to get anywhere in Colorado Springs. The only thing we found was that the number of bedrooms was a little deceiving. There are only two actual bedrooms. The other sleeping areas are in the open - one was a den with pull out couch and the other was in the semi-finished basement and was a double bed just in the room with the couches and tv. We made it work for us but it could be a little harder for multi family trips.
We were at the Bruce's home for one week so beautiful inside and out, the home is within 10 minutes of grocery stores and a starbucks. The home is very easy to find and a beautiful view on the back patio. The best thing is that it is very easy to do day trips from the Colorado Springs area, we did g to Aspen and decided to stay over it was a longer trip then we thought, but the drive was fantastic. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a Colorado Springs home to rent, in addition the owners are very easy to work and communicate with.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautifully decorated 2 bedroom home. The house is listed as having 4 bedrooms, but one room is an alcove off the foyer with a pull out sofa and the other is a bed on a large piece of carpet in an unfinished basement. Sleeping in the alcove would be no different than sleeping in the living room. There is no privacy. We fortunately did not need to use that space. We had a teenager sleep in the basement and it was very cold and in his words, "a bit creepy," but the bed was comfortable so he was reasonably happy. I would not have enjoyed sleeping down there, however, so if you are traveling with several couples, you need to decide who would be willing to sleep in the basement. If your kids will sleep down there, just know that the hot tub is not in a separate room and that there are doors leading outside.
The main floor of the house is quite lovely and the master bedroom is huge. The furniture was very comfortable which is a huge plus in my book! We were able to unwind and relax in the evenings after long busy days. The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of room in a large pantry to store your groceries during your stay.
We loved having breakfast on the deck each morning and really enjoyed the view of Pikes Peak. The neighborhood is well maintained and quiet. We took walks in the evening and felt safe and comfortable.
The house is 20-30 minutes from the main attractions in Colorado Springs, but everything was easy to find using our GPS. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and a convenient grocery store. We were happy with the location.
I would like to suggest to the owners that they type up directions on using the hot tub, appliances, and the many T.V. remotes. We enjoyed the hot tub, although it never got very hot. The jets would only work for about 5 minutes at a time. I'm sure there was a way to adjust the settings, but we could not figure them out.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would recommend this house to others who want a peaceful place to stay while in Colorado Springs.
The home is very large (2 bedrooms with doors that close and attached bathrooms), 1 bedroom in the partly to most finished basement with own patio, and 1 alcove bedroom (no doors) with a restroom across from it. The upstairs living area and dining room lead to a patio with view of the mountains. The neighbourhood is safe with well lit sidewalks and access to nearby open spaces and parks. This would be a great place for 1 or 2 families with young children to stay and visit Colorado Springs. The kitchen has a lot of the basics (including dishwashing detergent galore, which I appreciate) and a few spices. The refrigerator had some basics (Mayo, Mustard, ketchup) as well, so look before you shop. The freeways are close enough to be convenient, but far enough away so that you get the vacation feeling.
There is a grocery store called King Soopers nearby, with good, quality produce and meats and a giant mall called Chapel Hill Mall with all the mall stuff. The owners were good about communicating with us. The only thing I would say is that there is some contradictory information on checkout and trash disposal within the written instructions in the house. However, the owners were very communicative and always answered questions in a timely manner. I would totally go back here if I spent a while in CSprings.
The home is located in a beautiful, upscale golf course development on the prestigious north side overlooking a challenging, championship golf course, georgeous Pike's Peak & the front range, with the added bonus of a view of the Air Force Academy, clearly showing Cadet Chapel and the football stadium. Within five minutes, tour the Air Force Academy and take in massive, major upscale shopping. Fifteen minutes away, don't miss a drive up Pike's Peak, quaint, historic Old Colorado Springs, tourist area of Manitou Springs, breath-taking red rock Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds and Cliff Dwellers, world famous Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs Mountain Zoo, interesting downtown area & nearby Colorado College Campus. Visit Royal Gorge, 1 hour, Rocky Mountain National Park, 3-4 hours, Aspen, Vail, Steamboat & other ski resorts, 3-4 hours. Seniors over 70 ski Monarch free, 2 & 1/2 hours.
