About Linda Dreher

We are two lovely people from So Cal who met in junior high, stayed friends through high school, and married 30 years later. We've dreamed of moving to Kona, and knew this was the place for us when we spent only 10 minutes at the DMV and got our Hawaii licences. Literally just 10 minutes! The day-by-day the dream of being full-time Kama'ainas became a reality in 2017. We purchased a few of properties in the Kona area over the years, and now we are permanent residents.

Great stay in Hawaii.

Great view off the lanai. The ocean is just feet away. From there we saw a mom and calf whale, dolphins just about every day and at nighttime, a manta ray. The owners of this condo are wonderful and were there to meet all our needs. The kitchen is updated, fully equipped and the king size bed was comfortable. There are four barbecues on the property. A couple more would be nice. A great central place to enjoy all parts of the island. Thanks Linda and Tom.

As for the view, it's always good to here that dolphins show up in the morning, but I believe you're the first guests who've reported whales. How fun. Obviously we can't make promises, but it's awesome to know we've had some repeats visits in front of the lanai when it comes to marine life. Absolute Oceanfront with Dolphins

We had a great time here for two weeks during the holidays. We woke up on my birthday to the largest pod of dolphins we've ever seen - there may have been as many as 40 - 50 of them! Wow! And after that, they came almost every day.

There is an exceptionally well equipped kitchen for a rental (most if not all the tools you'd find in your own kitchen, rather than a handful of assorted cast-offs), and I was particularly pleased to find that some herbs and spices from previous tenants had been left behind - it always annoys me to have to buy something basic that I forgot to bring when I only need a teaspoonful. If you're paranoid, buy your own anyway.

Temperatures were in the upper 70's(F) during the day and low 70's at night and the fans were more than adequate for those times we couldn't leave the doors open and let the trade winds cool the place.

As others have noted, because this is a ground-floor unit, if the guests directly above you tread heavily (or have children that do), you will notice them, and other than asking them politely to be quieter, there's not much you can do. I bribed them with cookies.

The common areas were extremely well maintained including the BBQ / picnic area, pool and hot tub, parking lots, and trash/recycle areas.

Finally, in addition to the oceanfront and dolphins, what we appreciated most was that this unit is around the corner and faces away from the pool which, at least at this time of year, was filled with happy (and noisy) children most of the time.

Personal experience of the accomodations

Accommodations O.K. Furniture could stand to be upgraded in near future. I was a little disappointed not to find a can opener, but no big deal. Owner very honest.

It is unfortunate you did not enjoy staying at our unit as mouch as others have, but considering that this unit was furnished in 2013 for the first time we are somewhat confused by your brief description. This includes furniture, television and other electronis equipment that purchased for the first time for this condo. We hope in the future you find a unit more to you liking, but hope others will read the majority of our reviews and see that your feelings are not the norm for our renters.

A Beautiful Slice of Paradise!

We had the pleasure of staying in this gorgeous oceanfront condo during our 9-night trip to Kona. My husband and I agreed unanimously that for the price this practically oceanfront condo simply cannot be beat! We enjoyed coffee, tea, meals, and happy hour on the lanai every day. To have the ocean in your "backyard" is truly amazing! The condo itself was very comfortable with every amenity you can possibly think of - guide books, sunscreen, books, DVDs, binoculars, plenty of utensils, coffee cups, travel mugs, blender, pots, pans, etc. We cooked in nearly every day - the kitchen is great, so well supplied! The condo is also equipped with ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom along with a powerful floor fan, which we used every night. The bed is super comfy - you may not want to leave it!

Just a few tips - the bedroom is near the front door with very little opportunity for natural breezes so the fans were an absolute must for us, especially since we're not used to humidity. Also, a staircase leading up to the top floors happens to be situated right outside the bedroom. We learned fairly quickly one evening that folks walking up the stairs can see right into the bedroom (and actually see you in bed) if they cared enough to stare thanks to the angle of the two bedroom windows (which we kept open because it was hot) and mirrored closet doors. This was a little awkward but we never had any issues. Just be prepared to either close the one window at night or keep both windows open and take your chances! Also, each building is equipped with exterior lighting which happens to be situated right near the bedroom windows. The windows don't have any interior blinds or drapes so the bedroom is lit with a soft, orange glow all night. A nighttime eye mask is the perfect solution if you want total darkness - just be prepared to bring one! We had an absolutely wonderful stay here - the condo is a short drive to restaurants and shops along Ali'i Drive to the north. It's a 15 minute drive to Keauhou Bay to the south, which is a meeting spot for Sea Quest and Fairwinds snorkel tours. The grounds were quiet, beautifully landscaped, and well kept. We spent a lot of time at the pool and jacuzzi chatting with fellow guests - it was great! Linda (the owner) was a breeze to work with - so helpful!! We couldn't have asked for a better stay and I do hope we get the pleasure of returning to Sea Village! Mahalo!

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your sweet review. We love the location of this unit and the fact there is a coffee place right on site. So nice to have a place to walk to if you want to have breakfast or lunch outside. Also great is the barbecue area. We have grilled fish and steaks there many times, and there's always one available if you're ready to grill. The unit is in a perfect spot between downtown Kona and Keauhou, so there's plenty of place for a meal, and the remodeled KTA Supermarket at the Keaukou Shopping Center has great local produce and meats/fish. Their poke bar and sushi are excellent. Great stuff to bring back to the lanai and have a sunset meal. Thank you again for your thoughts, and we hope you remember your experience when you return to Kona!

A wonderful stay

We truly enjoyed our visit to Kona and Linda's condo. It is very centrally located, a good home base for traveling north or south. The condo complex was very well kept and very quiet, and there is a great coffee shop at the top of the driveway.

The condo was very clean and inviting. The bed and bathroom were like a hotel-- soft down mattress topper, soft white sheets and towels. Granite shower with great hot water and water pressure.

The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed, tho we didnt cook much. There are also grills in the courtyard.

The best part, of course, was the incredible view from the lanai ( porch). We were so close to the water and had an incredible view of the water and sunsets (!) --a great spot to start and end the day!

Linda was very available for questions. We definitely recommend this!
