Please be advised that the town of Breckenridge is at 10,000 ft and our cabin is at 11,000 ft. If this is your first trip to Summit County, please be aware of altitude sickness and how staying hydrated is key to avoiding it.

Also note that AWD/4WD is recommended during the WINTER months (Nov-Apr), as Summit County gets a fair amount of snow.

To make your stay more enjoyable, please consider bringing laundry soap and, if you are staying more than a few days, additional supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher tabs).

Moose Meadow is a peaceful, well maintained home that sleeps 13 and features fabulous mountain views and occasional sightings of the neighborhood moose, fox, or deer. Hike or bike at Hoosier Pass, climb the 14'er Quandary Peak or other trails nearby, fish at Alma Pond just over the pass, or head into town for skiing or mountain biking at Breckenridge Resort or bike along the path from Breckenridge to Dillon and beyond. This location is close enough to town to enjoy all that Breckenridge and Summit County has to offer, but also provides the solitude of a cabin in the woods.

There are 2 comfortable living areas with TVs, 3 decks, a fully equipped, updated kitchen with granite counter tops and gas stove, and a single car garage plus parking for 2-3 vehicles. The main level bedroom has a queen TempurPedic log bed with access to a private hot tub on the back deck for looking at trees and stars. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms with vaulted ceilings (king TempurPedic bed with deck and bunk bed room - twin/twin and twin/full) and a full bath. The separate living area/bedroom on the lower level has a king TempurPedic bed and queen sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress on solid backing (no bar!), full bath, and gas fireplace. Relax on the sunny front deck with the swinging bench and natural gas grill while taking in panoramic views of mountains and Hoosier Pass. Laundry facilities are in the garage, accessible from the lower level.

The driveway is shared, so please be sure to park without blocking the neighbor's access.

Breckenridge's history as a mining town is still alive in the charming Victorian town. Strict building codes have preserved many of the old Victorian era buildings of the 'Old West'. Today Breckenridge is a year-round resort destination with Summer and Winter activities to please everyone. Breckenridge is known for an abundance of incomparable shopping, dining, nightlife, over 400 boutiques, galleries, bistros, restaurants, and more variety that is sure to please every taste and budget.

We are committed to making sure your stay is enjoyable. We have tried our best to anticipate all of your needs, but work hard to make things right quickly once we are notified of an issue. We bought this cabin when we lived in Colorado, but have since moved to Oklahoma. We still come back to take in the Rockies whenever we can, but decided to offer this cabin as a vacation rental so others can enjoy it during those times that we can't.

We purchased this cabin to have nice access to the ski resorts while still experiencing the solitude of the woods. We love wandering down to the pond that is visible from the deck or going for a walk in the neighborhood - even getting to watch the neighborhood moose or foxes on occasion. It's also very close to so many great options for hikes, skiing, and fishing. We hope you and your family have a pleasant and memorable stay.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the views from the front sunny deck and have enjoyed watching several bike races along Hoosier Pass right from the deck. The back deck off the main bedroom is the perfect place to enjoy star gazing while relaxing in the hot tub.

Excellent Breckenridge ski lodge

Cozy cabin overlooking rockies

We had a great time at this cabin over President's day weekend, skiing at the nearby resorts. The cabin is located several hundreds of ft above Breckenridge; if traveling from sea level, it would be suggested to spend a night in Denver or another mid-altitude location to make the acclimation smoother. The kitchen has all the essentials needed to make your own meals, and the spacious living and dining area comfortably seated our party of 10.

Large, functional Cabin

We did not want to write a review because the stay was not outstanding, including cleaning people being there upon our arrival so they were running late in having it ready. On the positive, the owner, was very responsive in communication before and during our stay in the cabin. The home is large, serviceable and can handle a big group easily. The cabin sits at 11,000 and we generally had a headache most of the week due to the altitude. We are from Texas. This cabin would do better in our thoughts if you were staying for a couple of weeks or lived at a higher altitude. We did not feel like basic commodities of toilet paper and paper towels were stocked well and ran out by mid week. The water pressure was extremely low and a big trickle at times. Hard when you want a nice warm shower after skiing. It had a hot tub but it was through a bedroom and it felt awkward to us going through our friends room and we didn't want to bother them if they were resting. The house was adequate but not enough light. Hard to read in the evening. No table lamps and only one light bulb over dining table. The driveway is steep so unless you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, you will not make it up. We had to park below the cabin and walk up the driveway the whole week with our van. There was a snow plowed area by street so we were glad for that.

On the negative, 17 days after our stay, the owner called us and asked about "poop" that had been left in a trash bin. We didn't listen to the message for a couple of days because we were out of town and her name did not show up and it was an OOT phone number, usually spam. We responded 3 days later by text saying we did not know anything about "poop" being put in a trash bin and we had no pets in the house even though we know they allow it. We asked her to follow up with us if further discussion needed to be had. We heard nothing more until yesterday when we received a review from the owner as her guests one month after our stay rating us a 1 star on all areas- overall experience, cleanliness, house rules, and communication. We find this upsetting and confusing since we received an e-mail the day of our departure thanking us for taking good care of the cabin and the deposit would be fully refunded. All of our payments were done in a timely manner. We are offended by the owner's response. We would not rent this cabin again or any of her other properties.

Owner's Response: Suzanne, I'm sorry you had altitude sickness. I try my best to make guests aware of the high altitudes in Summit County and have information in our rental agreement. I have now put that info right at the top of our website description to make it more prominent. Our cleaners do their best to stay on schedule, even during peak times like Christmas, but I'm sorry they were still there when you arrived. I know it can be frustrating to run out of supplies, so I have added a note on the website and in the rental agreement advising people to bring supplies if they are staying more than a few days. I wish I'd know you were having water pressure issues during your stay so I could have had the water filters changed. We changed them shortly before your stay, but I guess they got clogged more quickly than I anticipated. I know we discussed the AWD recommendation before your stay, but I'm sorry you had trouble getting up the driveway. We get a lot of snow in the winter and it can result in both great skiing and frustration. I try to accurately reflect the accommodations with pictures and descriptions of the house, so I'm sorry that it didn't quite meet your expectations. As I explained previously, I personally cleaned out the trash bin before your stay, but found some unbagged waste in the bin when we arrived after your departure. I emailed you to get more information, then left a voicemail about a week later when I didn't get a response. I wanted to get your side of the story, but only have a limited time to leave a review for you. I waited until the last day to get a response, but at that point, made an assumption that you must have left the waste and probably weren’t going to get in touch. After hearing your side, I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt and rescinded my review. I’m sorry that you feel you were treated unfairly, but I do try to be reasonable with all of our guests.

Excellent Place!

We really did enjoy our stay here. The views were beautiful and the location is perfect. Our entire family enjoyed this house. Just a note for larger groups, the pullout sofa shares a room with the bed in the basement. I was hoping the main living room sofa was the pullout to allow a bit more privacy but we made it work. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We can't wait to come back.

Very large property with plenty of room for all of us.

We enjoyed every second of our stay in this beautifully situated home. Plenty of space for our whole group to spread out and relax, easy drive to the slopes, and all the amenities we could have asked for. The owners were very accomadating and easy to work with. HIGHLY recommend this rental to anybody looking to take a family or group trip to the mountains, thank you so much!
