Why Hal and Margie Kluttz chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Hal and Margie have been spending time in Ashe County since they were married over (30) years ago. They fell in love with the cabins along the peaceful shores of the Big Horse Creek.

What makes this cabin unique

Spending the summer nights listening to the water flow down the creek from our open bedroom window was relaxing beyond description. There is just so much to see and do in Ashe County. This became our home away from home.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this rental over Memorial Day weekend and had a wonderful time! Honestly, I cannot find an negatives to report with this rental. The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils and even a crockpot! We did not use the grill but it was clean and there was an extra propane tank provided. The hot tub was the nicest hot tub I have ever used in a rental, lots of features and clean! You are right on the river which is perfect for relaxation. The bed was very comfortable and extra blankets were provided. One of the best things about this rental is there is a washer and dryer renters can use-it’s always great to go home with clean laundry!

Here are some other great things about this rental:

• Comfortable living room furniture

• Lots of satellite channels for an evening in

• A wide assortment of DVDs, kid friendly options too

• Pet friendly

• Good water pressure

• Ceiling fans

• Outdoor furniture

• Fire pit

• Privacy

If you are not familiar with the area, it is rather remote, but that’s perfect for us. We also kayaked on the New River during our stay and highly recommend Canoe The New Outfitters.

All and all a wonderful stay and we will absolutely be back!

Mostly perfect getaway!

  • 4 of 5

The property is awesome! The creek by the balcony and the fire pit are a great bonus, in addition to the lovely cabin. The house is decorated adorably and is very homey and comfortable. Hal's movie collection is AMAZING. The kitchen was well stocked with every dish and amenity we needed. There were a few small improvements and things to keep in mind, however we would absolutely stay here again! The few things: 1) the patio door offers a great view during the day, but at night it's a little scary because we couldn't see out, while someone outside could see in. I highly recommend adding a curtain. 2) the shower head was VERY strong. Only turn it halfway between shower and bath, and it will be a little gentler. 3) internet and cell service was basically non-existent after we left the cabin. (Could be that t-mobile is a bad provider) I recommend you screenshot directions to and from the cabin before you head out. Aside from those small things, it was a wonderful experience!!

great cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin for couple getaway. Was concerned with the cabin being so close to road but there is very little traffic and the sound of the stream drowns out vehicle noise. Great place already booked a second stay.

Simply beautiful and definitely the best vacation we've had.

  • 5 of 5

The owners were absolutely accommodating when we mentioned we were bringing our two small pups. The lights were left on for us since we arrived late in the evening. The cabin was indescribably beautiful, more than what we were expecting. It really was a great place to relax and get away from the big city. The hot tub was definitely needed and great for relaxation. Throughout the day, you could hear the creek that was running right next to the cabin, absolutely soothing. My husband needs some kind of white noise to fall asleep, and the creek was perfect for it. Will definitely come back for another stay :)

Great but..

  • 4 of 5

Really great experience as it was our first Homeaway adventure! I took cues from other reviewers to bring your own essentials such as paper goods, detergent, dish soap, salt and pepper and other seasonings you may need, and definitely coffee for their classic non-keurig coffee maker. We went during early March where we had 2 solid days of snow and temps in the teens. The cabin kept us warm and fully entertained with their selection of movies and amazing hot tub settled out in the back patio overlooking the stream and woods. It deserves all 5 stars as it accomplished the cabin experience, but I have 2 young children and was a little apprehensive being out in the mountains so far away from it left for one eye open kind of nights :-)
