Martha and Lisa were married in 2008 and moved to Hawaii in August of 2014. Martha is currently a practicing attorney and Lisa is a recovering attorney looking for life balance, island style. They are loving Hawaii's welcoming aloha spirit and look forward to sharing it with others.

LISA ALTMAN purchased this apartment in 2014

Why LISA ALTMAN chose Kailua-Kona

Great location, nice view, and the opportunity to sculpt our own perfect piece of jungle. Also, the house was specifically designed and built with 2 independent apartments and is perfectly positioned for vacation rental.

What makes this apartment unique

This property is close to everything; great snorkling beaches only minutes to the South, great turtle beaches due West of the property and great swimming, surfing and whale watching beaches just minutes to the North. The property is also centrally located between multiple tourist attractions ranging from Volcano National Park, to various historic sites, to elegant plantations, spectacular botanical gardens, and tropical adventures including kayaking the Kohala flume, ocean kayaking, and zip lining in Hawi.

Best vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved our week stay here! We couldn't be happier with this property. It is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of plants, flowers, fruit trees and a wonderful walking path to enjoy it all. The apartment itself was just perfect for the 2 of us. First of all, it was spotless, and the queen sized bed was very comfortable. (Even the pillows were comfy, and I'm a little picky about my pillows!) Then there are the supplies provided for you: snacks, coffee (and filters!), basic kitchen spices, all the kitchen utensils, etc that you could need (including Ziploc baggies), reusable grocery bags (since plastic bags are not available in Hawai'i), a grill for our use, access to laundry. And then there's the beach supplies: towels, chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear and cooler. And best of all, Martha and Lisa! We could not ask for better hosts! They were so friendly, and always there when we needed recommendations on beaches, scenic drives or restaurants (Umekes is the best!). Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation, and we will see you next time we come to Hawai'i❤❤

A great place to stay.

My wife and I came to Kona for the first time and were grateful to have found a very comfortable, clean and convenient place to stay. It was handy for getting to the core of the tourist area, but quiet and private. The owners were very helpful with their knowledge of the Big Island. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

What an absolutely fantastic property! The unit was incredibly clean, quiet, private, and perfectly located for easy exploration of the island, while still being conveniently close to town. With their kind welcoming, ample recommendations, and overall generosity, Lisa and Martha made our stay truly exceptional. Would definitely recommend Hale Pamahoa!

Absolutely fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time in this beautiful, clearly much-loved home. It was a perfect home-base for exploring the west side of the Big Island. We have been to the area a few times, but the "insider information" provided by Lisa and Martha led us to places we hadn't been before.

The unit was in immaculate condition, spotless and equipped with everything we needed, and more. The thoughtful breakfast supplies, cold drinks and "snack basket" were much appreciated! Being surrounded by the beautiful gardens was a treat, and we had fun watching the many birds who visited the bird bath every morning. We were sad to leave, but left relaxed and refreshed! We hope to be back!

So Friendy, Clean, close to Kona and restaurants, quiet

  • 5 of 5

Hello! We had a lovely time at your place Lisa and Martha! Thank you for showing us around!

The owners are so friendly and took us on a mini tour of their property. They have a beautiful garden.

So clean, 8 - 10 minutes from the main drag in Kailua- Kona but far enough away for a great night's sleep and cool even if it's hot near the city. We didn't need the AC much but it works well. Great snorkeling, lots of beach gear that isn't battered. Easy parking. Good mini kitchen - with oven, grill, stove, condiments, etc. Toiletries and snacks provided. Pretty much everything you need.

My favorite thing is that the bed is very comfortable and not overly soft/ hard/bouncy - no back pain!

We would stay again.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at this property, only wished it was longer. Lisa and Martha are wonderful hosts and provided many great suggestions. All the other VRBO comments were bang on from the wonderful snack tray, some beverages in the fridge and fresh papaya provided upon arrival to spices and sauces for BBQing. Location is close to Kona with great access to highways for travels to other locations. Views out the back of the suite and outdoor space is wonderful, We will definitely be back, Mahalo
