Guest Apartment, quiet Kailua-Kona neighborhood, Air Conditioned

This spacious, well appointed apartment is located in Kailua-Kona, Big Island, on one acre of land, on a private road, and overlooks 15 acres of grassland and jungle, with background ocean views. At 938 feet above sea level, the property enjoys morning and evening breezes, cooler temperatures, and spectacular sunsets. This apartment is one of two ground level apartments in a two story private home (owners reside in the 2nd floor living space); it is the left unit in the photos taken facing the sliding glass entrance doors. Each apartment has a separate outside entrance which is located on the opposite side of the house from the owner’s 2nd floor entrance. The owners are very quiet and considerate of guest privacy but they are always available to answer questions, make suggestions, and provide directions.

The apartment has one large bedroom, with a high quality queen sized mattress, one bathroom, and a dining/living area/kitchenette. The apartment sleeps a maximum of 2 people.

The home is conveniently located just off of Palani Road and it is only a 13 minute drive from the Kona Airport (KOA), a 7 minute drive to the Kailua-Kona pier and the Ali’i Drive “old-town” tourist and restaurant district, a 5 minute drive to Walmart, and a 10 minute drive to Costco. Additional attractions include multiple nearby world-class snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and turtle/whale watching beaches, multiple golf courses, and numerous coffee plantations, farmers markets, restaurants, historic sites and other tourist attractions. As an added bonus, the property is a great spot for bird watching, including wild parrots, kalij pheasants, francolins, wild turkeys, cardinals, saffron finches, various song-birds, pueo (Hawaiian owl), and 'io (Hawaiian hawk).

Additional amenities include air conditioning, 40" cable tv, highspeed internet, barbeque grill, outdoor dining area, shared laundry access, use of snorkeling gear, beach towels and beach chairs, and off-street parking for one car per apartment. Also available, upon request, is a portable mini-grill and a portable Coleman camping stove, for use during your outings. The unit has newer furnishings, is very clean, and has everything you will need, including stove/oven, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, French press, water kettle, pots/pans, dishes, silverware, knives, cutting boards, can and bottle openers, cooking utensils, clothes iron and ironing board, towels, sheets, blankets, pillows, blow dryer, paper towels, Kleenex, and toilet tissue. Also included in the rental price is a welcome snack basket, an assortment of cold drinks, and coffee fixins, to hold you over until you can go to the grocery store.

Note that an excise tax (in lieu of sales tax) and a temporary accommodations tax will be charged in addition to the daily room rate. As required by Hawaii State Law, the owners’ Hawaii Tax ID Numbers are as follows:

Peaceful location; attention to the little things really matters

My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 nights and loved this 1 bedroom vacation rental. The owners are friendly and love nature as much as we do. There's a cute little birdbath that gets used a lot in the afternoons. Lisa planted a huge garden in the back that is relaxing and offers a great view of the distant ocean. Very convenient location; above Kailua-Kona, but high enough that it's really, really quiet.

Lisa and Martha are friendly and offer great insights into beaches, hiking areas and four-wheel drive locations. Also, they had snacks, water, three days worth of wonderful coffee and lots of condiments stocked in the frig. It was so easy to stay here and really relax. Enjoyed this side of the island. Now we are off to the volcano. Thanks to Lisa and Martha, we booked a boat adventure to see the lava going into the ocean. Up close and personal.

Nice site away from crowds , awesome garden , quiet and close to many areas.

Lisa and Martha were the best hosts. When we got there the fridge was stocked with what appeared to be home grown papayas and limes, and some fruit drinks and beer. Also a welcome basket that had goodies were nice touch. The location is great. Everything you need is here. The garden and paths to viewing areas was very special. Their suggestions were a weath of knowledge. We would highly recommend this place to get away from the madding crowd. However beaches and other areas are very quick to get to .

Super stay!

Best stay during our 7 weeks trip. Many reviews rate 5star if everything was ok. To put this into the correct order 6star would be the rating. Many things are already in the fridge, so you dont have to buy everything, schnorkling and beach equipment to use for free, very clean, full kitchen, wonderfull garden (fresh fruits) and view and last but not least Lisa & Martha are very nice hosts!

Home Away from Home

My husband and I recently stayed 5 days at Lisa and Martha's property. From the second we put our bags down, we felt very comfortable. Everything was immaculate, with a lot of charm and to top it off, they thought of every little detail from cooking essentials (oil, spice, condiments) to a white noise machine in the bedroom and organized snorkel and beach gear on the patio.

Only Martha was on the property during our stay and she was very kind. She not only would give us very detailed tips of where to go/not go, she would also leave fresh fruit in the mornings and was open to text message or calls to ask for more tips while we were out on our adventures. Martha really helped make our trip what it was since we didn't have much time to plan every activity before arriving. We are truly grateful for all her advice and loved the apartment and garden.

We will stay here again in the future and will be recommending to our friends.
