About the property

A modern mountain home nestled in scenic Boulder Canyon along Boulder Creek.

This is the perfect home away from home for those who want the best of both worlds - a restful getaway in the mountains, yet only a short drive away from downtown Boulder fun.

Open floor plan, beautifully furnished. 10-15 min from downtown Boulder; 25-30 min from Eldora ski resort; 5 min from Wedgewood on Boulder Creek.

The home's open floor plan features a large great room lined with floor to ceiling windows. French doors off the dining area lead to a 700 square foot deck that features a gas fire pit and BBQ.

The spacious and fully equipped kitchen features modern stainless appliances and quartz countertops. A large kitchen window overlooks the deck. The bar seating includes two conveniently-placed electrical outlets for plugging in cell phones, laptops, etc.

The living room features a wood burning fireplace (firewood provided), a leather sofa, and two leather chairs, a comfy LoveSac, and a 58" flat screen TV with cable, Apple TV, and Netflix.

The entry way includes a desk space and leads to the two bedrooms. The bedrooms are small compared to American standards, but they are beautifully appointed with lofted ceilings and skylights that give them a more spacious feel. The guest room includes books and games for use during your stay.

Both bathrooms have heated tile floors. The master bath has a large glass-enclosed shower. The master walk-in closet has a stackable washer/dryer. The guest bath has a claw foot tub with shower surrounded by beautiful epay wood.

NOTE: My husband and I live in a separate garden-level apartment onsite. The apartment has its own exterior entrance and there is no connecting stairwell or door to the main house. The only shared space is the driveway. One parking space is provided for guests in the driveway. Additional parking is available near the bridge.

If you need anything during your stay or would like recommendations, just let us know. Otherwise, we will respect your privacy.

Keypad on front door to check-in/check-out independently and come and go as you wish.

-Pricing varies based upon the number of guests, so please ensure your reservation reflects the correct number of guests.

-There is no cellular service in the canyon; free wifi throughout the house can be used to operate cell phones. There is a land line with free calling throughout the continental U.S. provided for use.

- The driveway is gravel

- There's no food delivery here

- Given it's on Boulder Canyon, there can be traffic noise (especially during commute hours)

-Like the vast majority of properties in the foothills, this one doesn't have central A/C. At 6,300+ feet elevation, the temperature at the house is typically 10 degrees cooler than in the city (5,400') and rarely goes beyond the 80's. We do have an A/C wall unit that can be used to cool the great room on the warm days.

About Joann Nelson

Jay and I have a shared passion for the great outdoors, traveling and experiencing new things. We love the active, mountain lifestyle...which is a main reason why we both moved from the Midwest to Colorado after college. Jay is an avid mountain biker and adventure racer (kayak, mountain bike, rappel, trail run, navigation). I'm a distance runner and triathlete. I love running marathons and did my first full distance triathlon at the inaugural Ironman Boulder.

Relaxing stay on Boulder Creek

  • 5 of 5

We had wonderful, relaxing stay and experience on Boulder Creek. The house, including kitchen, was well stocked with amenities. The house and property is beautiful and comfortable. Joann was readily available if needed with questions or concerns. I would definitely consider staying here again if in the Boulder area!

Relaxing stay on beautiful Boulder Creek!

  • 5 of 5

My family had an absolutely wonderful time staying in this lovely home on Boulder Creek. Jay and Joann had it stocked with all sorts of treats, drinks and nice teas and coffee along with many guide books on hikes and things to do in and around Boulder. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with excellent tools, pans, cooking equipment, knives and everything you will possibly need to cook and feel at home. It is very quiet and relaxing with lots of windows and a nice outdoor space. Wifi works great. Laundry machines are a nice plus as well. Also, Jay and Joann are extremely responsive and thoughtful hosts. We had one question during our two-week stay which Joann came over and answered within 10 minutes. Joann's restaurant and hike recommendations were terrific. We recommend this VRBO highly and plan to return again whenever we can.

Great First Boulder Experience!

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful first trip to Boulder and this house was a big part of why we had such a great time. The layout was perfect with thoughtful details and amenities. Joann was very responsive and answered any questions we had before and during our stay. The owners respected our privacy and it was a pleasure to chat with them one night while out on the relaxing deck. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

I have to agree with all the prior reviews. The house is exactly as advertised. It's a great layout and perfectly provisioned. This was our first trip to Boulder and this was a great home base to explore the city. We hope to be back soon!

Perfect place to stay when in Boulder

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here while visiting our daughter at CU. It was a perfect distance from downtown, and we loved the beauty of the location. The house was clean, in perfect condition, and well-appointed. Joann went out of her way to welcome us with everything we would need and more. She was always quick to respond when we had questions. Next time we visit, we'll be sure to try and stay again! Thanks for everything!!

Fantastic Thanksgiving Location. Danny & Gail

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon with groceries in tow planning on preparing Thanksgiving dinner at our vacation rental. Of course with my wife always being prepared she had many of the condiments packed in our suitcases not knowing how well equipped the home would be.

Joann and Jay's rental is beautiful and welcoming and the location couldn't be better.

The home was clean and had everything we needed including explicit instructions with all electronics, etc..

Our daughter and son in law visited and we had Thanksgiving dinner here (thanks for the roaster, it really freed up the oven and worked perfectly). They have purchased land and are building a home and when they saw the kitchen and open floor plan they began measuring and formulating ideas. The best comment was "this is how we want our home to feel, welcoming when you enter".

The location is fabulous with the creek and the hiking, we discovered some of the old mines.

Thanks again Joann and Jay.
