Overview

About the property

A modern mountain home nestled in scenic Boulder Canyon along Boulder Creek

This is the perfect home away from home for those who want the best of both worlds - a restful getaway in the mountains, yet only a short drive away from downtown Boulder fun.

Open floor plan, beautifully furnished. 10-15 min from downtown Boulder; 25-30 min from Eldora ski resort; 5 min from Wedgewood on Boulder Creek.

The home's open floor plan features a large great room lined with floor to ceiling windows. French doors off the dining area lead to a 700 square foot deck that features a gas fire pit and BBQ.

The spacious and fully equipped kitchen features modern stainless appliances and quartz countertops. A large kitchen window overlooks the deck. The bar seating includes two conveniently-placed electrical outlets for plugging in cell phones, laptops, etc.

The living room features a wood burning fireplace (firewood provided), a leather sofa, and two leather chairs, a comfy LoveSac, and a 58" flat screen TV with cable, Apple TV, and Netflix.

The entry way includes a desk space and leads to the two bedrooms. The bedrooms are small compared to American standards, but they are beautifully appointed with lofted ceilings and skylights that give them a more spacious feel. Blackout blinds on bedroom windows and skylights, so you can sleep in comfortably. The guest room includes books and games for use during your stay.

Both bathrooms have heated tile floors. The master bath has a large glass-enclosed shower. The master walk-in closet has a stackable washer/dryer. The guest bath has a claw foot tub with shower surrounded by beautiful epay wood.

NOTE: My husband and I live in a separate garden-level apartment onsite. The apartment has its own exterior entrance and there is no connecting stairwell or door to the main house. The only shared space is the driveway. One parking space is provided for guests in the driveway. Additional parking is available near the bridge.

If you need anything during your stay or would like recommendations, just let us know. Otherwise, we will respect your privacy.

Keypad on front door to check-in/check-out independently and come and go as you wish.

THINGS TO NOTE:

-There is no cellular service in the canyon; free wifi throughout the house can be used to operate cell phones. There is a land line with free calling throughout the continental U.S. provided for use.

- The driveway is gravel

- Given it's on Boulder Canyon, there can be traffic noise (especially during commute hours)

-Like the vast majority of properties in the foothills, this one doesn't have central A/C. At 6,300+ feet elevation, the temperature at the house is typically 10 degrees cooler than in the city (5,400') and rarely goes beyond the 80's. We do have an A/C wall unit that can be used to cool the great room on the warm days.

About Joann Nelson

Jay and I have a shared passion for the great outdoors, traveling and experiencing new things. We love the active, mountain lifestyle...which is a main reason why we both moved from the Midwest to Colorado after college. Jay is an avid mountain biker and adventure racer (kayak, mountain bike, rappel, trail run, navigation). I'm a distance runner and triathlete. I love running marathons and ultras, and did my first full distance triathlon at the inaugural Ironman Boulder. Jay runs a small business (Mountain Woodcare) and I do Human Resources consulting.

We have a 15 year old cat (never allowed in the rental) and plan to adopt a dog in January 2019.

Awesome

This place is amazing. Great house stocked with everything you would ever need. The property is extremely clean and well maintained, and was a real bargain compared to other places I have stayed in the area. I wish I were there now.

Great place to stay in Boulder

  • 5 of 5

The 2 bedroom home is beautiful, spacious, and well kept. The kitchen is bright and has everything. The living area is comfortable with room to spread out or entertain. Both baths are excellent, and the main bathroom has a glass shower stall with a gorgeous view of the mountains (but still maintains privacy). Our hosts were unobtrusive and really allowed for privacy, but were also friendly and helpful when we needed advice about the area. The location is right in beautiful Boulder Canyon, convenient to Boulder, but also up above the city. Every drive in either direction has great views of the creek and the hills. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

Perfect place to stay in Boulder Canyon

  • 5 of 5

We knew the moment we opened the door this home was going to be perfect. We were greeted with clean modern design with lots of windows and light.Looks just like the pictures posted. Beautiful kitchen with all of the essentials were inviting. JoAnne had coffee to grind, tea bags to brew and cold drinks in the fridge with a few snacks in case you were starving and spring water dispenser there for our taking. The bed and linens were very comfortable and the closet areas so well designed and ready to move right in. Bathrooms roomy and clean with wonderful shower and a view of the mountains!! The creek runs along the front of the property with a small bridge to cross to get to the house. We are so glad we stayed outside of the city this time. It is a nice quiet retreat after a day out hiking but close enough 6.5 miles (gorgeous drive never got old) to town to eat or enjoy Boulder. We never went more than 30 minutes to enjoy a new hike each day and found Earth Yoga studio to enjoy yoga classes each day. Must hikes in area include Eldorado Canyon State Park in Nederland, hike up to Lost Lake. While there check out the Carousel and the old train for desserts..great pizza place in Nederland too... Betasso , NCAR for a beautiful hike and Wonderland Lake for an easy but beautiful setting. Enjoy the Wednesday and Saturday Market and grab an egg sandwich on Saturday from The Black Cat stand. Go see Boulder Canyon

falls that just opened to public after the flood of 2013 and walk the path along the creek just up the street from the house. If you like puzzles check out Liberty Puzzle factory for a short tour and Celestial Tea company for a tour as well. So much to do we will have to come back and would definitely stay in Joannes home again or she has a house right next door that we could try. Enjoy!!

Lovely getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time during our stay. It was wonderful to hear the river, and see the trees through the many windows! Joann was a wonderful host. She answered all of our questions. The house and kitchen were well stocked with everything we could possibly need. There is road noise, because you are near a road in a canyon, but it never completely drowns out the sound of the river. At night, it is so peaceful; no need for a sound machine that plays running water, the real thing is right outside. I would stay here again, and would recommend it to all my friends and family. Thank you!
