About the property

A modern mountain home nestled in scenic Boulder Canyon along Boulder Creek

This is the perfect home away from home for those who want the best of both worlds - a restful getaway in the mountains, yet only a short drive away from downtown Boulder fun.

Open floor plan, beautifully furnished. 10-15 min from downtown Boulder; 25-30 min from Eldora ski resort; 5 min from Wedgewood on Boulder Creek.

The home's open floor plan features a large great room lined with floor to ceiling windows. French doors off the dining area lead to a 700 square foot deck that features a gas fire pit and BBQ.

The spacious and fully equipped kitchen features modern stainless appliances and quartz countertops. A large kitchen window overlooks the deck. The bar seating includes two conveniently-placed electrical outlets for plugging in cell phones, laptops, etc.

The living room features a wood burning fireplace (firewood provided), a leather sofa, and two leather chairs, a comfy LoveSac, and a 58" flat screen TV with cable, Apple TV, and Netflix.

The entry way includes a desk space and leads to the two bedrooms. The bedrooms are small compared to American standards, but they are beautifully appointed with lofted ceilings and skylights that give them a more spacious feel. The guest room includes books and games for use during your stay.

Both bathrooms have heated tile floors. The master bath has a large glass-enclosed shower. The master walk-in closet has a stackable washer/dryer. The guest bath has a claw foot tub with shower surrounded by beautiful epay wood.

NOTE: My husband and I live in a separate garden-level apartment onsite. The apartment has its own exterior entrance and there is no connecting stairwell or door to the main house. The only shared space is the driveway. One parking space is provided for guests in the driveway. Additional parking is available near the bridge.

If you need anything during your stay or would like recommendations, just let us know. Otherwise, we will respect your privacy.

Keypad on front door to check-in/check-out independently and come and go as you wish.

-There is no cellular service in the canyon; free wifi throughout the house can be used to operate cell phones. There is a land line with free calling throughout the continental U.S. provided for use.

- The driveway is gravel

- Given it's on Boulder Canyon, there can be traffic noise (especially during commute hours)

-Like the vast majority of properties in the foothills, this one doesn't have central A/C. At 6,300+ feet elevation, the temperature at the house is typically 10 degrees cooler than in the city (5,400') and rarely goes beyond the 80's. We do have an A/C wall unit that can be used to cool the great room on the warm days.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at this home - great design and well stocked with wonderful towels and linens! The claw foot tub was so soothing after a long hike, and the huge rain shower was a great treat as well. We also spent hours in front of the wood burning fireplace. All in all it was a perfect house for us.

To top it off, the owners were fabulous, and available for any questions we had. The hiking suggestions were especially helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

It was Perfect!

WE were looking for a break, a place to go relax for a few days. This was the perfect place. Very private yet close to everything we wanted to see and do. Wish I was still there but hope to come back. Everything was provided to make this as hassle free and accommodating as possible.

Highly Recommended!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week at this Boulder Canyon get-away and recommend it highly. It's a beautiful 10-15 min drive up from Boulder, in the trees, beside a creek.

We stayed here a week and never heard another person, although there are neighbors a distance away on either side. It is private and serene, nestled up against the mountain. There's a lovely deck with a firepit. Outside, you can hear the traffic a bit, and of course, the creek.

This is a beautiful, clean, well-stocked house. A snack basket welcomes you. There are beverages in the fridge, a bag of ice in the freezer, even a water jug. They stock TP (2 ply!), paper towels, napkins, shampoo and all soaps: hand, bath, dish, dishwasher, laundry, etc. There's also coffee and tea.

The two beds were comfortable and sturdy (I hate cheap mattresses on wobbly frames). Sheets were very soft, and the towels were plush. Living room furniture is also comfortable; the room offers a beautiful fireplace and a big-screen with Netflix, Hulu, etc.. Stacked washer and dryer worked very well, enabling us to pack light. Cell reception is dodgy, so there is a phone for use. I have Project Fi, and had no problem calling out, but my friend was not successful with her provider. Wifi is strong.

We cooked every night -- the kitchen is well stocked. The dining room chairs are not wildly comfortable, but they were fine. The house is beautifully appointed throughout, even down to heated floors in the bathrooms--I didn't even know such things existed, but quickly grew to love them!

The owners live below, but were traveling while we were there. I know having someone else there would be a concern for people, but I suspect it's pretty private. They did have a house sitter dropping by, and we never even noticed him/her.

In terms of communication, the owners are excellent. They respond quickly and professionally for the rental agreement, and my few questions were answered immediately via email, even though they were traveling. They were pleasant and professional--a dream to work with. They even sent me a message the morning of check in, letting me know that no one was in the house, so we could check in early if that was more convenient. How kind!

There are a number of steps to get up to the house, and two steps inside, so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues.

Location is fantastic--easy drive to Estes Park, Golden, Denver, and of course, all the delights of Boulder. We highly recommend this property.

We loved it!!

We loved our stay. Everything we could have wanted was there for us. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to a little away from it all.

Its only a 10 minute drive to Pearl Street Mall!

Did not want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

What a great home! Very clean and spacious. A perfect getaway from the city we live in. Joann and Jay were out of sight, but not out of mind because they were available if we needed anything, which we didn't because everything was fabulous. Boulder is such a fun town, we were close enough to the action but far enough outside of town to feel like you are "away." Without babies/toddlers this house was PERFECT. A couple FYI's if you are wanting to bring crawlers/early walkers. We brought our 1 year old, overall the house was baby proofed enough. The bedrooms do not get dark during the day (skylights in both rooms), which made afternoon naps tough (so he slept in the bathroom). There are 2 steps leading to the kitchen. Our kid had fun on the steps, but we had to watch him closely. Just a couple things the pictures don't tell you if you're thinking of bringing a little one. If you don't have a kid- nothing to worry about, so stay here!

About Joann Nelson

Jay and I have a shared passion for the great outdoors, traveling the world, and experiencing new things. We love the active, mountain lifestyle...which is a main reason why we both moved from the Midwest to Colorado after college. Jay is an avid mountain biker and adventure racer (kayak, mountain bike, rappel, trail run, navigation). I'm a distance runner and triathlete. I love running marathons and did my first full distance triathlon at the inaugural Ironman Boulder.
