Secluded, charming, updated Studio w/ DirectTV and parking
This garden studio has been updated with new flooring, Beautyrest mattress on a full-sized bed for up to two guests, a refurbished claw-foot tub with shower overhead, flatscreen television with DirectTV, wifi, and a serene sitting area outside its front door. Also we have a large parking area onsite, very important as it’s nearly impossible to park in-town during all of Nevada City’s wildly popular events. The property is surrounded by towering sequoia red wood trees and mature landscaping.

About Mollie Poe
We are a San Francisco family who fell in love with Nevada City at first sight when dropping our oldest daughter to sleepaway camp on the Yuba River in July of 2013. We stumbled upon 534 Spring Street that weekend, with it's proximity being only a block behind Nevada City's Broad Street commercial district, and 6 miles from the unbelievably beautiful Yuba River, and knew that this was somewhere we wanted to retreat from San Francisco's city life.
Mollie Poe purchased this Studio in 2013
Why Mollie Poe chose Nevada City
The charm of this property is unparalleled. There is a real sense of privacy and seclusion as it's located on a full-acre with fruit and nut bearing trees, vast landscape and an incredible variety of trees and plant life....yet it's only a 5 minute walk to all of the city's awesome cafes and restaurants, nightlife, theaters, hikes, bike trails, and more. We love it!
What makes this Studio unique
Our entire property consists of a spacious 3-bedroom home with a 2-room in-law suite, an additional separate garden studio on the side of the house (this listing), and also a large 2-room barn on the rear of the lot. All 4 'compartments' of the property have separate entrances and are very different spaces, yet all updated with new flooring, Restoration Hardware linens, towels and cutlery. All new Beautyrest Mattresses throughout the property in all bedrooms, and plush down and down-alternative pillows. Comfort abounds in every element of the property. We redesigned the home, in-law, barn, and garden-studio by blending today's modern updates with an influx of locally sourced antiques and accessories, maintaining a regard for the property's eclectic and historical 'cabin-like' past, having been built in 1851 by two Irish brothers who 'struck it rich' in the early days of the 1849 Gold Rush.

Super cute, clean, and cozy.
We were looking for a cozy space to get away from it all, and this spot was perfect. Close to downtown but not surrounded by people. Loved it!
This is a must visit! Amazing place, town, people, and views.
Thank you Kenneth - I greatly appreciate your review! ; ) Wonderful to have you stay with us, and so nice of you to gift us with wine on the way out. - We found your gift basket after you'd left. Cannot thank you enough! You two were awesome - and your dog is simply adorable! Wishing you the very best in 2018 - looking forward to seeing you again in the future!
Cozy Nevada City Getaway
We had a great stay in the Garden Studio on our trip to Nevada City. It's in easy walking distance to downtown and some of the local biking and hiking trails, making it ideal. We had dinner one night at Twelve 28 Kitchen in Penn Valley, and highly recommend it! It's a bit of a drive, but the food was amazing and they had a great beer and wine selection as well!
Adam, thanks so much for the review - it means a lot to us! So happy you enjoyed your stay - and yes, Twelve 28 is a hotspot for sure!
location, location, location
It was our first time visiting Nevada City. The studio was a great place to stay, as it was walking distance to the downtown area, yet tucked away, for restful nights and a few cat naps here and there. We really felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, so quiet and grounds are very well maintained. Will definitely be coming back! Thank you!
Very cute studio in perfect location
My wife and I, and our border collie, stayed in the Garden Studio last weekend and had a really nice visit to Nevada City. The studio is very cute, clean, and in a perfect location - just 2 blocks from downtown. We were able to park in their private lot the whole weekend and walk down to the various shops, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms that the town has to offer. This worked out really well since we got caught by a good size rain storm while we were there. The owners warned us ahead of time that the wooden walk to the studio can get slippery when wet, and I'm glad they did because it helped us remember to use the cement steps near the main house instead. We were able to explore Nevada City and then get back to the shelter of the studio with ease during the worst of the storm. I can see where the studio would be an even better place to use as a base when the weather cooperates for longer excursions in town or around it.
Super Sweet Little Spot
This little studio was perfect for me. I stayed for five days and for the first few, I never even used my car. It is in an amazing location. Walking distance to town but sooo quiet. Be sure to read the description well. I did not, so I was expecting a little kitchen so I wouldn't need to eat out every meal. I made due with having just the little mini-fridge though. The owners are absolutely lovely and easy to reach if you need anything but one of the best parts about this studio is the privacy. You walk up your little wooded path (super charming) to your private patio and the studio & you are surrounded by peace and quiet. I highly recommend staying here. Oh! And the bed is heavenly. :-)
