Most of the coast line in Kailua-Kona is lava rock which is beautiful to look at but not experience. There are only a few useable beaches in the Kailua Kona area and Kona Lani Hale is a few minutes drive away to these beaches. Other vacation rentals may be near the water but not necessarily near a beach.
The closest usable beach for Hoene is the world famous Kamakahonu "Eye of the Turtle" Beach. It is only 2.4 miles from the house...basically a short 5 to 10 minute drive down the hill. This beach has snorkeling, swimming, and stand up paddle board activities and is located in Central Kailua-Kona. It is also famous because it is the start of Ali'i Drive and the finishing line for the "Iron Man World Championship". It can be seen on T.V. around the world when the Iron Man competition occurs in October of each year.
Kona Lani Hale is a Large Private Executive Style Home built in 2005 located a short 5 minute drive from the heart of the famous Ali’i Drive in Downtown Kona. Guests will have access to restaurants, retail, shopping, urgent care, and other neighborhood amenities such as Safeway, Walmart, Target, Starbucks, Longs Drugs, Bubba Gump's, Outback Steakhouse, the Post Office, Library, Parks, and other Kailua-Kona outdoor activities. Beach access along with activity centers (i.e. Island tours, Scuba Diving, Fishing etc.) are a few minutes drive away (off of Ali’i drive) allowing guests to stay off the “crowded hotel areas” but still provide them with direct access to the pristine Hawaiian beaches and other island amenities. We are perfect for the guests who want privacy AND convenience!
In the Hawaiian culture, the word 'Lani' means 'Royal' and 'Hale' (Haw-Lay) means 'Home', which is exactly what you are getting with the Kona Lani Hale. A luxurious, high quality royal vacation home with over 3500 square feet of private living space, small swimming pool (non-heated), and beautiful ocean, bay, and sunset views. The home is at an elevation of approximately 700 feet above sea level. Kona Lani Hale is perfect for families, couples, or a group of friends wanting to experience the Hawaiian lifestyle together while having the option for maintaining individual privacy. The home consists of a main 2,500 square foot (which includes the covered lanai) dwelling with two (2) large bedrooms and two (2) luxurious bathrooms. Each bedroom has a King Size Bed and a cot therefore sleeping up to 3 people per room. A large expansive living room looks out past a covered lanai area with views of the ocean. In addition, there are two large studio units attached to the garage which can sleep up to 3 people each. Next to the lanai there is a small swimming pool (non-heated) enclosed by a private fence and gate. The master bedroom in the main home features a brand new King Size Serta Perfect sleeper bed, tub, walk-in shower, and private lanai area. The 2nd bedroom also has a brand new King Size Serta Perfect sleeper bed. The 2nd bathroom has a “spa-like” feel with solid granite counters and a large walk-in shower.
The property is nicely landscaped with native Hawaiian trees and plants providing that “tropical feeling” and sense of place. There are no neighbors behind the property (it is preservation land) and a vacant lot on one side providing the ultimate privacy or peace of mind knowing fun loving family gatherings or friendly get-togethers won’t be dealt with by complaining neighbors. The home is situated above street level so the home cannot be seen from the road giving guests a sense of privacy. The front of the property is filled with matured trees, plants, and shrubbery on top of a solid and extensive Hawaiian rock wall. There is a large open driveway capable of fitting up to 4 cars.

This house is everything that is says it is, family friendly, close to beaches and amenities. Kelly (Owner) and Sandy was outstanding with answering questions and just been helpful. We had seven adults, and 3 children and everyone had there own space to retreat to for some quiet time. The house is well equipped for everything we needed to cook Christmas dinner. If you have a family who need a space to relax after a day of hiking and snorkeling then this is the house for you. Just outstanding!!!!
We had a 9 adults and little children and all were comfortable! It was a blessing to find this place on VBRO.

We loved staying at this home. We had so much fun in Hawaii, the pool was fun. Kelly was an awesome communicator... every time we had a question, he answered. The only thing I wish we knew is that July is very humid and hot in Hawaii, and being used to AC, there isn't an air conditioner at the house (not fault of the home owners). We enjoyed being at this home, we will be back. Kelly was very accommodating, plenty of towels, and the beds were comfy. Definitely will be back. -BD
Some issues we had when we went as three families:
1. The master bedroom door was unhinged the entire time and was unnerving whenever kids were playing near it (door seemed kinda heavy)
2. The swimming pool wasn't cleaned until the Wednesday/Thursday (don't remember) we were there - we checked in for a week beginning Saturday, so nearly half our trip it was unusable.
3. The first couple of nights were unbearably hot due to the lack of tradewinds (nobody's fault). But learning about the sliding bug doors helped us immensely - would have been great to know about that before hand so we could have kept the home airy and open the first two days as well.
Other than these minor issues the home was amazing. Plenty of space in the kitchen for cooking for a big group, evenings spent watching the sunset (right from our lanai). The owner even went out of the way to make it a memorable occasion for a birthday in our group by surprising us with a a huge cake. Would highly recommend the property.
We were a family of 7 adults (3 couples and a single) and the house was ideal. It was spacious, beautiful and relaxing. Greate choice for large groups as has a nice outdoor area that overlooks the ocean with a bbq. The pool was also refreshing and well maintained. The Bedrooms are also spacious with 2 bedrooms inside and 2 in a double story section outside. The house was clean. Pool cleaner came one of the days we were there but didnt interupt or come inside. Location is great, 5min drive to main beach and shopping centre. Owner requested us to sign a document before arrival with some house rules/guidelines however had no issues. Highly recommend and we would stay there again.
