Wonderful Family Vacation
We had a wonderful 1-week stay at Sea N Star.
A few days before our arrival, I received a text message from a woman on the island wanting to confirm our ferry arrival time. As soon as we stepped off the ferry, a kind woman welcomed us and took us to our home for a week. Arrival and departure were very smooth and stress-free.
The house is in a beautiful setting. When you are on the lanai, you feel like you are in a treehouse. We loved watching the birds and looking at the ocean from the crow's nest - absolutely stunning views! The set up of 2 houses was perfect for our situation. We have 2 young kids, so when the kids went to bed or napped, we could be in the other house or in the crow's nest and still hear the kids (with a monitor) if they needed us. We had everything we needed. We cooked most of our meals at the home, and found the kitchen to be fully stocked with plates, pots pans, etc. (make sure to bring oil/ butter & seasonings if you plan to cook - only salt and pepper is there)
We had plenty of beach towels and toys for outdoor play. We spent a few colder mornings in house playing games and watching a little TV. Everything is very comfortable at the house, and it has everything you need.
The house is a little older, so there is some normal wear and tear... but everything felt clean and orderly. All of the appliances are in working condition, and he had plenty of bedding, towels, soap, etc.
The owners were kind enough to answer several questions I had before the trip, and were always quick to respond.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back!
Love everything about this house and the island. Highly recommend!
Perfect Family Vacation
What a wonderful home - just as we'd hoped - in a great position on the island with excellent facilities and all the home comforts we needed. We loved the various decks as it gave us the room to space out and enjoy the sun ( of which there was lots) and shade . The day and night rooms proved excellent for our two families including our teenager who slept in much later than the rest of us!! The younger boys also enjoyed the boat bunk room and the games upstairs - some of the traditional board games got quite a few outings!
Everything was provided that we needed in the well equipped kitchen (and it was great to have both a gas and charcoal barbecue) and being able to do a second grocery shopping run in the middle of the two weeks proved extremely useful - taking advantage of the special shuttle bus / boat run provided by the Island Club in the week at 9am.
Yes, it's not all brand new and state of the art (some of the fixtures and fittings are a bit shabby-chic), but that is not what we go to North Captiva for - it is though a great place to make some great memories and we will be returning.
Unique, comfortable, clean home!
We had a great week in this beautiful home. Loved hearing the ocean at night and waking up to the birds. It’s a house that makes you feel outside when you’re in because of the big screened in porches. We had two families and the night and day separated out was just perfect for napping babies!
Wonderful house, beautiful island.
We just finished a week’s stay at the Sea N Stars house. This was our first trip to North Captiva and it did not disappoint. The island is incredibly relaxing. We loved watching the sunset on the beach at the end of the lane each night. We also loved visiting the main beach (near the state park entrance). The shelling there, particularly at low tide, was amazing. We saw dolphins, manatees, and tons of birds.
The Sea N Stars house was perfect. Pam met us as the ferry dock and took us to the house and gave a quick tour. The house had everything we needed for 7 days of home-cooked meals. The only things we wish we had packed were olive oil and spices for cooking (they provide salt and pepper, but that’s it).
We loved the unique two-house layout. We never had to worry about waking our son after he went to sleep. The proximity to the beach was great, just a 1 minute walk or 10 second golf cart ride. The houe had loads of beach towels, chairs and toys. The views of the ocean and stars from the crows nest were a real treat.
Lastly, the Island Club pools and hot tub were very nice. The pool is heated, so we could enjoy it even in February when there was a little chill in the air some days.
All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better vacation. We are already planning on coming back next year.
North Captiva is an un-bridged Island 7 miles off the coast of Ft. Myers in Southwest Florida. Fly into the Ft Myers Airport “RSW.” The Island can only be accessed by boat or small private plane with privileges at the airstrip. No gas vehicles are allowed, as the only mode of transportation on the island is by golf cart, bike or foot. This Island is not connected to Captiva and Sanibel.
The island is populated by private homes, and the remaining 2/3 of the Island is undeveloped protected state land. Due to the remote nature of the Island, many forms of wildlife are present including several protected species. The beaches are white sand and feature some of the best shelling in the United States. North Captiva feels like your own private island where, on many occasions, you might be the only one on one of the finest stretches of beach in Florida.
