Rustic Cabin On West Marin Organic Cattle Ranch

Bedrooms 1
Property type cabin

About the property

Rustic, Cozy Cabin at Stemple Creek Ranch is a quiet escape for 4

This rustic, cozy cabin at Stemple Creek Ranch (West Marin) is delightful. It is just a few miles from the ocean, has a private deck with BBQ, kitchenette, loft for sleeping, and views of the countryside that stretch for miles.

We also have a 2 person cabin on the same property (listing #1113384), a farmhouse that sleeps 6 (property #1227083) and an event venue (outdoor spaces and a beautiful barn) if you are looking for somewhere to host a party, wedding, or corporate event.

Stemple Creek Ranch is a family owned and operated organic cattle ranch in Tomales, CA, just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. We raise grass-fed and grass-finished beef and lamb. This cabin is a refurbished old bunkhouse with a full bathroom with a claw foot tub, kitchenette with a small sink, 2 burner gas stove, and small refrigerator, a loft for sleeping (queen sized bed and twin bed), pull out couch downstairs (queen sized bed - very good quality pull out couch, very comfortable), and a deck with a BBQ and outdoor seating.

We occasionally bring our dog to the cabin, so if you are highly allergic, take note! There is Verizon cell service, but no AT&T cell service. We do have wifi on the ranch but it might not work perfectly because it is satellite based. There is also a local cafe, the Tomales Deli, that has free wifi.

The cabin is just a few miles away from the town of Tomales, less than a mile away from Highway 1 (Shoreline Highway), and a great home base for exploring Marin or Sonoma Counties. Visitors love to go kayaking, hiking, and enjoy the local wine, oysters, and cheese.

Please note that if you are looking for a location to do professional photography or filming there is a site fee that is NOT included when you book the cabin for a nightly rental. Professional photography or filming on the property is not permitted without prior consent. There are other people who live and work on the ranch. All guests must be considerate of others at all times. No pets allowed except service animals. No more than 4 people are permitted on premises at any time.

Please note: no pets, no smoking, no open flames.

You can interact with is as little or much as you want. We do not live on the Ranch, but there are other houses on the ranch where other people live and we do work there on most days.

Check in time in 2:00 PM or after.

Check out time is by 11:00 AM.

Please wash your own dishes.

If you want to order beef or lamb from us (Stemple Creek Ranch) please let us know 10 days in advance, and we can have it there for you when you arrive.

Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was even more restful, clean, and calming than we hoped it would be. We came for the quiet and received that in the form of grasslands and sheep and birds’ nests and cows - all outside our spare spotless cabin. It was the peace of wild things plus.... really great WiFi. Not a cook’s kitchen though! Stay simple on the food and you’ll be fine.

Beautiful, Peaceful and Quiet

  • 4 of 5

The cabin and the property were absolutely wonderful for a quiet get-away for my wife and I. The one thing making this a 4-star instead of a 5-star review is the kitchen area. Although it is small (which is not a problem) there was barely anything available for us to use to cook a simple meal. There are no kitchen knives, only one small pan that needs to be replaced, no drying rack, no salt/basic spices/cooking oils, few cooking utensils, no foil, etc. If those things were added to the cabin it would make the experience significantly better. If not, just let guests know that those are not provided.

Again, the place is wonderful and I would return here in a heartbeat. I highly recommend it for a peaceful escape. Just be prepared to bring your own cooking supplies if you plan on making meals in the cabin.

Lovely getaway...great for our kids!

  • 5 of 5

Our daughters really love the Little House on the Prairie books, so when they saw this place....they were in love. Everything was comfortable, even the pull-out sofa, and we really enjoyed watching the cattle and sheep grazing. We even saw an owl one evening by the porch. It was a sweet spot to slow down and enjoy the view.

The place was very cozy! We were blown away by how pretty the drive up to the house was. Green grass, rock formations, sunset!

idyllic west sonoma hideaway

  • 5 of 5

if you've spent years driving around the green pastures of west marin and sonoma wishing you could just sit yourself down in one of the old ranch buildings and stay a while, here's your chance. this cabin is a perfect spot to escape and relax (but the wifi is very good too!) the porch and picture window look at rolling hills with sheep and cattle grazing. the dining table is perfect for playing family games. there is not much to do out here and that's a good thing. the clawfoot tub and other details are very rustically darling. lisa & loren have created an idyllic nest on their family ranch.

Great Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at Lisa and Loren's cabin. First of all, we were looking for a place to spend the weekend for my boyfriend's birthday, and our plans fell through last minute. I called Lisa last minute to see if I could book the night at her cabin, and she responded immediately and was very accommodating to our change in plans. We drove up late at night, and I was a little worried it would be hard to find the place, but she provided very clear directions and we had no problem at all. The place was clean, and well-maintained, and matched the listing.

Overall, we had a great time and hope to be back soon.
