Overview

About the property

1 bedroom,1 bath and sleeper sofa, large dock and float, a real Maine Cottage

You can't get any closer to the water than this cottage. This cottage rests on a 250 foot working wharf, used by lobster men in the winter to store their traps and gain access to the water. Bring your boat with you and keep it at the float for an additional rental fee. (space is limited, call for details) You may be able to buy lobsters directly from a lobster man hauling traps in the cove. One cozy bedroom with a double bed and living room with a sleeper sofa, the cottage sleeps 2-4 people. The galley style kitchen has a 4 burner stove and oven to fill all of your basic cooking needs, or you can use the lobster cooker and grill out on the dock. The inside table seats 4, and when weather is nice, eating at the picnic table on the dock is perfect.

If you are looking for a place to disconnect, unwind and relax, come soak up the sun and fresh air or watch the sun rise over Lobster Cove. Treasure hunt the shore while the tide is out or toss in a lure and catch a striped bass or mackerel for dinner. Take a trip into town for a day of shopping or an evening at the Opera House which hosts a wide variety of entertainers such as Jackson Browne, Celtic Storm, Pete Best Band, and Marty Stewart.

Why Lisa Burnham chose Maine

In 1974 my parents were looking for a nice place to raise their family. They both had grown up on Lobster Cove Road. My father was a second generation lobster man. The property was perfect. They built our home across the street and began to expand the small existing dock to accommodate his lobster traps and fishing gear. For many years, he would build his own lobster traps in his work shop, which has now been completely renovated into Lobster Cove Cottage. My two teenage sons, forth generation lobster men, continue to fish their traps in the cove, (you may have a chance to see them). During the winter the dock is still used by six lobster men to store their traps and gear. My father built the dock with the help of his friends so other lobster men would continue to have access to the shore. I welcome the opportunity to share this wonderful cottage and the real Maine experience with visitors to the Boothbay Region.

What makes this cottage unique

This could be the opportunity of a lifetime to witness a real Maine working waterfront in action. Before the first week in June, the lobster men will be working on, preparing and setting their gear in preparation for the lobster fishing season. When you rent in the early season (at our early season rates), you can see them loading their boats, and the dock becomes a busy workplace. Unlike in the summer, during this busy time before June 1st, the dock is not available for guests use, and the float becomes available in early June.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

A fabulous, peaceful waterside cabin. A delight to stay in! Close to Boothbay Harbour, but tucked away down at the water's edge with superb views. We loved it and would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you to the owner for her warmth of welcome and ease of dealings. Also, thanks to her son for educating us with regard to lobsters! Our only complaint was having to leave....

Great location!!

  • 5 of 5

What an awesome location!! Right on the water, just minutes to downtown but without any of the noise or traffic. The cottage was perfect for the two of us and spotless. Lisa was very easy to work with and very helpful. We will definitely recommend this to our friends.

Love this cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent 5 days at this sweet little cottage and loved everything about it. It was a perfect size for the 2 of us and Lisa was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, comfortable, and provisions were very good. We loved being right on the water with the beautiful views and the fact that it was within easy walking distance to the downtown area was a bonus. This rental will definitely be on our short list for places to return to. Thank you Lisa for sharing your home with us!!

Love this place!

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect place for a couple or small family. The views are amazing and you can't get any closer to the water. Lots of activity happening in the bay- lobster boats, bald eagles, osprey, and the occasional seal! The cottage is cozy and has everything you need. It's right next to Barret's Park and only a 15 minute walk to all of the restaurants and shops in the Harbor.

SCENIC PARADISE!

  • 5 of 5

UNBELIEVABLE VIEW! We stayed in April, but have also been here in summer as well. Couldn't be closer to the water unless you stayed on a houseboat....Woke up in the morning to the spell of ocean air and the far away sounds of lobster boats starting their day.. Had coffee on deck watching wildlife up close and personal, eagles, harbor seals, ospreys, blue herons and many other different bird species. Boothbay Harbor has lots to offer, both couples and families alike. Wonderful restaurants within walking and close car travel distance. In April the season is started with Fishermen's Festival and the Blessing of the Fleet. June brings the Windjammers..see them dock at Fishermen's Wharf restaurant in town. Owner's sons lobsters in summer. Have lobster for dinner from your dock to your pot~doesn't get any fresher than that!...Great kayaking in cove and wonderful park nearly next door for picnics or swimming with children. Great fishing! A fantastic cottage in a fun, safe family friendly town. A romantic spot for couples.....Would highly recommend!!

50 year old

WOW, what a find! Right on the ocean, with lobster boats coming and going. The cottage is immaculate and had everything we needed for our stay. You can have coffee right on the dock and there is a great little park just up the street. Quiet neighborhood and parking at the cottage. Perfect location to be close enough to all the local attractions. Lots of great places to eat and shopping just over the footbridge. There is a piano bar with a great entertainer Danny Beal at the Tugboat Lounge...very talented! Went out on a fishing charter with Redhook Charters, great day with Captain Mark Stover. Got to experience actual lobster hauling with lobsterman Matthew Burnham..we left right off the dock at the cottage. Location is great, so much to do and see. Owner is local family who grew up across the street. Great breakfast at Andrews Harborside in town, or there is everything you need if you want to make your own breakfast if you prefer. Lots of opportunities to have great lobster. Loved this cottage and we will rent this cottage again! Great place to visit. The cottage is our home away from home. If you have time, there are some great shows at the Opera House just a short drive with ample parking. We loved it.
