Much better than photos

  • 5 of 5

Tim and Kathy,

We had a wonderful week at your cottage. The lake views were beautiful and we enjoyed swimming and boating. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed to cook and then enjoy meals with the lake view! Day trips to the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City were an easy drive. Thank you for all you did to make our vacation a great and memorable week. We hope to return soon!

Comfortable house on Lake Leelanau

  • 4 of 5

Almost everything about our visit was perfect. The house is well designed and comfortable for two families (grandparents, children, and grandchildren). The lake is nearby with two small beaches for the children. The fire pit was the best we have ever seen. The wireless internet was fast. The laundry area off the kitchen was easy to use. The owner is friendly and helpful. Our one concern is that the description listed a rowboat, which was not included (because it had been sold). We came ready to fish and our grandchildren were disappointed when we told them that the boat we had promised them didn't exist. Even a canoe would have been an improvement over the paddleboat that did come with the house.

Owner's Response: I've updated the website to reflect the availability of the more child friendly paddle-boat . The rowboat was replaced due to the fact that even on light and moderately windy days the boat could be blown across the lake making it very difficult to row to shore even for experienced boaters. Sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused. Tim Doyle

A perfect N. Michigan experience

  • 5 of 5

We have spent many fantastic summers in N. Michigan exploring different lakes and staying in various accommodations. Having all of those different experiences, we've become pretty attuned to what makes a great cottage - nice lake, quiet location, well equipped cottage, appropriate 'charm', safe swimming area, kid-friendly etc. This cottage checked all the boxes. Vacationing with three children 7, 5, & 1.5 we're always very safety conscious. The lake was perfect as the kids could walk out 100 yards and still only be in 2 1/2' deep water. At this location Lake Leelanau has a nice sandy bottom with gentle sloping beach access. The yard provided a perfect mix of sun and shade depending on what you wanted. The grill and fire pit were perfect for al fresco dining and s'mores.

Sierra Shores is an easy drive into Traverse City should you need to make a run for provisions or rainy day activities. We love the location of Lake Leelanau as it also has great access to Sleeping Bear Dunes and other canoeing and biking activities in the area. The cottage was impeccably clean when we arrived (right down to the raked beach!). It was handy having a high-chair and crib so we didn't need to pack those with us. Tim was super helpful on our arrival and got us acquainted with the property.

To date, we've never rented the same place twice but that changes next year as we've already booked this place to come back to - it really is ideal. We can't wait!

Beyond our expectations. We will be back!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful, well furnished, lovely home for your family to enjoy. Upon arrival, the house was very clean and well kept; the kitchen is outfitted with everything you need including plenty of dishes and glassware, pots & pans, utensils, linens, silverware and even tools for the gas grill outside on the side deck. All three bedrooms had plenty of towels and linens. This house is situated on a terrific space with an incredible view of Lake Leelanau. The lake has a sandy bottom and is shallow for about 100 yards, making it a great place for the whole family to enjoy. The backyard is absolutely perfect for those who enjoy the sun AND those who like a little shade. Plenty of outdoor seating for a large group; we had six adults and a baby and never felt crowded inside or outside. Our hosts were extremely accommodating and even provided us with a crib and high chair for our grandchild to use. Traverse City, Suttons Bay, and Leland are just a few of the nearby cities worth visiting. We also enjoyed a day of nearby winery tours, most of which are located within 30 minutes from this property. Highly recommend this property. We look forward to going back!

Everything you might need.

A lovely, well furnished, comfortable home away from home. The lake front is perfect for family activities. Roomy deck, shallow water and quiet neighborhood made for a great 3-generation vacation. Well located for exploring the TC and Leelanau Peninsula.

Perfect for our family

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property, loved the quiet and privacy. The house was very comfortable and we liked having the air conditioning.

The appliances, TVs and the bathrooms all functioned perfectly. We moored our boat because for our ski/wakesurf boat the lift was located in water too shallow for our boat to go on. There were mooring poles in the lake, however, so it was not a problem for us.

We enjoyed the campfire and the fact that firewood was there for us. We loved the sandy bottom of this area of Lake Leelanau.

It was great to meet Tim and we were pleased that he stayed and talked with us on the Saturday that we checked in.

We used the outdoor gas grill......we enjoyed it and it functioned well. Our family had a wonderful week and we hope to go back in 2017.
