6 bedroom/3 full bath on Grand Traverse Bay with 200' of private beach frontage

Come and enjoy this prime setting on fabulous Grand Traverse Bay with your family and friends. 6 bedroom/3 bath (2,800 s/f) home is the perfect venue for larger groups looking for a relaxing escape. Our home is situated on Omena Point, which is on the east side of the Leelanau Peninsula, near the small village of Omena, where you’ll enjoy our 200’ of private beach frontage on the sparkling waters of the bay.

1 King and 2 Queens on the main floor and 2 Kings and 10 twins (bunk beds) located upstairs. There are two bathrooms downstairs (both stand-up showers) and one bathroom (tub/shower) upstairs.

The main level features a fully equipped kitchen featuring stainless steel appliances and plenty of counter space for group meal preparation. The dining table seats 12, plus 3 at the kitchen counter, and 6 in the adjacent sunroom. The living room is cozy with leather furniture and a fieldstone fireplace plus a 60” TV, DVD player, satellite TV and WiFi. However, the sunroom may become your favorite space for relaxing with fabulous views of the bay.

Get outside! Plenty of private beach front – enjoy the sand toys provided for you. Swim, splash, or snorkel as you search for Petoskey stones along the textured bay bottom where the gentle waves have polished the small stones. Two fire pits (we provide the wood), gas and charcoal grills, large 6-person hot tub overlooking the bay. Bring your bikes and bike the 3.5 mile loop around Omena Point. We also have a basketball hoop in the paved parking area for shooting hoops, a ping-pong table, and a rope hammock for relaxing.

One of the best features of this unique property is the detached beach house that sits steps from the water. Inside the beach house is a 55” TV, DVD player, satellite TV, seating, and games. On the other side of the beach house sliding glass door is the deck and hot tub that overlooks the bay.

Bed linens, bath towels & kitchen towels are provided. Fully equipped kitchen includes: dishwasher, double oven, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee makers, crock pot, pots/pans, dishes for 20, silverware, and sharp knives. Other amenities include a 6-person hot tub with a view of the bay, a wood-burning fireplace, washer/dryer, gas and charcoal grills, fire pit and chiminea, WiFi, satellite TV, DVD,

another TV in the detached beach house, and kayaks.

Omena is a small lakeside community on the east side of the Leelanau Peninsula, 25 minutes from Traverse City. A short bike ride to Omena and you can experience lunch at Knot Just a Bar or stop in for wine-tasting at the award-winning Leelanau Wine Cellars tasting room. Don’t miss the many fruit stands for fresh picked seasonal produce or pick your own flower bouquet at U-Pick Omena Cut Flowers.

Additionally, there’s lots more to do in the immediate area – the cottage is 7 miles south of Northport and only 8 miles north of Sutton’s Bay where you’ll find quaint shops, fresh farmer’s markets, a grocery store and restaurants, or plan a day trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (about a 45 min. drive) where you can challenge yourself to the Dune Climb and enjoy the spectacular views!

Golf anyone? There are a handful of challenging and beautiful golf courses in the vicinity - the nearest is The Leelanau Club in Sutton's Bay.

But wait, there’s more! Leelanau Peninsula is home to 25 wineries divided into 3 mini-trails for easy touring: the Sleeping Bear Loop, the Northern Loop and the Grand Traverse Loop. Experience firsthand the many award-winning local wines - divide and conquer!

We had a wonderful time at Knot Just a Cottage! Beautiful accommodations and every possible need or want anticipated and provided for. The setting is breathtaking and wonderful old Michigan memories revisited and new Michigan memories made. We couldn't have been more pleased!

A perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved the quiet, secluded location. It was close enough to towns and outdoor activities that everyone in my large family could find something to do that interested them. The house, property and view of the bay were beautiful and the house itself was very well supplied with everything from basic kitchen/bathroom/grilling supplies to indoor and outdoor games. If we could offer any tweaks to the experience, it would be that there needs to be explicit instructions for the appliances. Everything is new and high-end but there were so many bells and whistles that we struggled to make them work. Not a horrible problem to have. We would absolutely stay again.

One of a kind cottage with something to do for EVERYONE!!

  • 5 of 5

It was very challenging trying to find a rental that suited all of my family's needs! There were 12 adults and 2 children who all had different requirements for our family reunion. I literally spent MONTHS trying to find a place that would make everyone happy! BOY did I hit the jackpot with Know Just a Cottage! At first I thought it was too good to be true, I assumed there would be hidden fees or that the cottage would be in poor condition. It wasn't! It was perfect. So then I assumed that the home owners might be the "catch". They weren't! They were great!

When we drove up the winding, private drive to the cottage we were instantly elated for our upcoming week. Though you can see the home next door we never felt anything but secluded the whole week. The maintenance man was there making sure that the brand new dock was still in good shape after high winds the night before. He was friendly and helpful.

The cottage had something for every member of my family. Brand new ping-pong table in the garage that we used every day, cornhole game which lead to a heated competition, an electronic basketball game in the boat house that everyone used, THREE grills to BBQ for our whole brood, a large dining table that fit us all, a gorgeous sunroom where we all relaxed and read, and kayaks that we used almost every day, a new hot tub with a one-of-a-kind view of the lake, and a fun boat house with a large screen tV.

The rooms were beautifully decorated and had comfortable beds, nice sheets, and quality pillows. The bathrooms were all newly updated and cute. The living area was super comfy for watching a movie at night with the kids.

The home owners responded very fast to all of my inquiries and had suggestions for things to do that suited each member of my family. They were even kind enough to send me something that I left at the cottage right away! Absolutely NO hassle about the security deposit either!

I truly couldn't find a thing wrong with Knot Just a Cottage or Mike and Anne. In fact, as soon as I arrived home after our vacation I started to plan next year's family reunion and plan to stay at Knot Just a Cottage again.

Thank you Mike, Anne, and Julie for a truly wonderful experience!

It was amazing and very beautiful

  • 5 of 5

It was really fun and we enjoy the beach dock and game room. The kids all liked the hot tub and beach. The beds were comfortable and we got great sleep. There was so much stuff to do and we had a good time playing basketball ping pong and sitting around the fire at night. It was awesome and we really enjoyed. Thanks! Henry age:12

Perfect for large groups!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for our bridal party and it was absolutely perfect. There were plenty of bedrooms for everyone and some quiet areas so that my matron of honors 6 month old could still take naps uninterrupted. The outside activities were endless and we enjoyed the kayaks and having bonfires at night. My bridal party set up shop on the back sun porch for hair and make up and enjoyed the beautiful views while getting ready for the day. It truly was the perfect house for our group! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Amazing weekend getaway. They thought of everything!

  • 5 of 5

Check in was easy. The house is absolutely beautiful. From the charm and character of each room to the break taking views from every room. The sunroom was my favorite place to read and have morning coffee. The kids loved the basketball game, closet full of board games and beach. The parents loved relaxing in the hot tub with a glass of wine and looking out on the bay. During the day the water was a beautiful turquoise and at night they were silver from the moon. This house left all of us wishing we had another week here. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, just brought the food. The chairs and fire pits were wonderful. This is the perfect vacation rental and a home I'd love to return to year after year.
