Great place to stay while visiting Glacier
This was a really nice little cabin about 10 minutes outside of West Glacier. I personally loved staying outside the park away from the crowds. It was a good size for 3 people, although I do have to say that the bedroom is a little small. The kitchen was perfect to come home to after a day of hiking to cook your own dinner. They have a great little set up outside with a charcoal grill, table, chairs, hammock, and a fire pit. The owners were very attentive and helpful. A few helpful hints- they have bear spray for you to borrow so you don't need to buy any of your own. DO buy bug spray. Take the time to drive over to Many Glacier and Waterton Park. It is worth it, and not that much farther than just driving the whole Going to the Sun Road. We also went white water rafting, which was a lot of fun. If you are hiking Avalanche Lake or going to Logan Pass, get there before 8 in the morning. Parking is very limited and it gets crowded. Logan Pass is the place to go to see the Bighorn Sheep and the Mountain Goats.
Glacier Park Gateway
We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin and Glacier. The cabin itself has everything you need. Lots of extras that you can't always count on in a rental, like plenty of towels, dishes, trash bags, coffee filters, etc. Very nicely fixed up and furnished, beautifully maintained. The location is awesome, as close to the park entrance as you can find. We did find that Glacier requires more driving than some parks, so we didn't spend as much time at the cabin as we expected. But we had friends who stayed in Whitefish and they had a 45 minute drive just to reach us. Marcus and Kathy were very helpful and responsive. We were there in August, when the temps passed 90 a couple of days. The only downside to the cabin was that it is very close to the main highway to West and East Glacier, so there is significant road noise. When we had trouble with the heat and road noise the first night, Marcus and Kathy brought in a portable A/C unit!! Closed the windows, cooled the cabin and we had 7 great nights after that. They couldn't have been more responsive and even offered to refund our money if we wanted. Plus, they gave us some great tips on hiking in the park - they're experts. The cabin doesn't have a dishwasher, but does have a washer and dryer. It's hard to find fault with anything in the cabin or the location. The bottom line is that we'd definitely stay again. Great cabin for a couple or family with 1 or 2 kids.
What a thoughtful and nice review! We are so glad you had a nice visit and enjoyed staying with us. We try very hard to accomodate our guests and we are grateful that you recognized that. Travel safe have fun thanks again. Marcus and Kathy
Fantastic little cabin!
Great little cabin south of Glacier. Takes about 2 hours to get to East Glacier and 25 minutes to West. The grocery store is about 5 minutes away and has basic items. The house is cozy, and in great condition. Very neat and clean; well taken care of. Next to Tamarack village which has good coffee and drinks. Only thing that was disappointing was there were no cutting boards and basic condiments-flour, sugar, butter, ketchup/mustard, etc. otherwise I would highly recommend cabin! I know we'll be back!
Dear Laura, Thanks for staying in our cabin. We strive to make stays as comfortable and convenient as possible.
You expressed disappointment about a couple of things in our cabin that I would like to address:
Condiments: We are uneasy supplying previously opened condiments to our guests as one can never know how the previous guest treated those condiments. Not everyone is as sanitary elsewhere as they are in there own home so to keep our guests safe we do not provide condiments that may or may not be safe to consume and that somehone else has opened. To make the condiments completely safe we would have to resupply the cabin with new unopened items for each rental and since we try to keep our pricing competetive we have no budget for that, sorry.
I had my housekeeper check for a cutting board and indeed we found one in the oven drawer. That was not where we originally placed it, but a simple phone call to us and a cutting board would have been in your hands in minutes along with any condiments of ours you felt comfortable using. A list of phone numbers was provided in the cabin.
We are sorry you did not communicate with us as we could have remedied your disappointments in pretty short order.
Thanks again for your business, we would love to host you again,
Sincerely, Marcus and Kathy
Beautiful little cabin with everything you could possibly need or want.
I had an amazing time! When I first entered the cabin I was shocked by how clean and comfortable everything felt. And they have everything you could possibly want. I was easily able to rest and cook with their fully equipped kitchen (and i hadn't planned to use the washer dryer much, but man was it a real lifesaver). And that shower is pretty incredible. I cannot praise this cabin enough.
The only con that I can think of is that it is pretty near the highway so it gets loud every now and then, but it never bothered me. Also there was this one bird that kept bumping into the window (i have no idea why)-which kinda freaked me out.
All in all I had just the best time. Montana is a gorgeous place to visit.
Loved staying at this place and it made our trip that much more memorable. Great location. Super clean. Has a grill and a fire pit. Internet and cable, washer and dryer. And even bear spray. It was our first trip to Montana and the cabin was in a perfect location. Definitely recommend this place for a small family or a couple. I am pretty picky when it comes to places I stay and this place had everything we needed. Very very well maintained.
Close to Glacier National Park
Cute house very near Glacier National Park -- 6 miles to the west entrance. It was very clean. Would stay there again.
The rental cabin is 7 miles west of West Glacier Montana which is the western gateway to Glacier National Park. The cabin sits immediately off, and adjacent to, US Highway 2. It is a convenient 10 minute drive to the Park entrance from the cabin. A grocery store, is approximately 5 min. away, there are restaurants within a 5-10 min drive also. Whitefish and Kalispell are 20-40 min away.
