About Dave Wicks

Dave Wicks originally purchased our amazing home away from home in 2011. The original owners kept a couple acres and built an adorable 900 sq ft cabin so that they could return any time they wanted...(it is hard to stay away!!) Luckily for us, they have decided to sell this, too. Now we own both. You can rent one or the other or both. It has plenty of trees in between for complete privacy.

Dave Wicks purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Dave Wicks chose Glacier Country

The is the perfect get away cabin. It is very close to everything - Flathead Lake, Big Fork, Live Theater, Big Sky Waterslides, West Glacier, Lake McDonald, Hungry Horse Lake, Lions Head Lake, Lake Five, The Maze amusement center, Whitefish, hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding, helicopter rides...and more YET - it is located 1/2 mile off the main road in complete privacy.

What makes this cabin unique

We have a washer/dryer set in the bathroom, access to many different hiking trails and lakes, and privacy. We have had a grizzly, a black bear, loads of elk, deer, and hummingbirds. It just doesn't get any better than this!

Excellent accommodations, clean, very close to Glacier National Park, would do it again!

  • 5 of 5

After looking at many VRBO homes and cabins in the West Glacier area we found this gem. It was priced affordably for our party of 5 and had everything we needed. We stayed here 4 days and then moved to the East Glacier area since the Going to the Sun Road wasn't open yet. We used both bedrooms and the futon with no problem. Everything was clean and neat. The cabin looks new, is well decorated, has a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of linens and the Internet connection works great. The Verizon service is strong in this area as well. I needed Internet service due to being on call and Dave assured me it would be fine.

Having looked at various options, we settled on this property because Dave was very open and responsive in his communications and answering every question quickly and clearly. He offered options for a couple things he might not be able to provide directly. There were absolutely no unmet expectations.

The cabin sits in a secluded area with other cabins but you hardly know they're there. On walks we took in the area we found the neighbors were friendly and helpful. This is such a better option than a lodge or motel for us. Each day we had breakfast early, headed to Glacier (8-10 minute drive) for a full day of hiking and returned to make dinner and enjoy the remote area and wildlife in the evening around the cabin.

We used the washer and dryer. The washing machine takes forever to run but the dryer is fine. It all works fine and is a blessing to have available if needed. The only thing we wished this had was a second bathroom and a dishwasher. But both of these things are easily managed and had very little impact on our stay. We knew these weren't provided so it doesn't reflect at all on the value and expectations.

There are porches on the front and back of the cabin. The one in the back has a BBQ grill (we didn't use it) but did enjoy sitting out there watching wildlife (deer, various birds, hummingbirds, etc.) and the beautiful Montana skies and clouds over the mountains of GNP.

I would highly recommend this cabin and would stay here again. Thanks, Dave, for a great experience and your flexibility.

Great little cabin for Vacation in Glacier National Park area

  • 5 of 5

My family of five stayed in Dave's cabin for a week in June/July 2016. It seemed to be fairly new, in great condition, well equipped, cozy bedrooms, and nice living room area with woods out back and a few mountains visible in the distance. The location is very convenient to the west entrance of Glacier National Park, and also convenient to some area restaurants and grocery stores. The park is amazing and we had a great week hiking and exploring.

Convenient location, excellent amenities

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is convenient located only 7 miles from the west entrance of the Glacier National Park. It is away from the main highway and is absolutely tranquil, yet it is close enough to get on to Highway 2 and zoom off to various exciting locations. The cabin looks rather new, clean and cozy. The family room has a nice view of a wooded area. There are 2 bedrooms with 2 double and one single bed. There is also a futon in the family room. The kitchen is well equipped with electric stove top, oven, refrigerator, electric griddle (for your pancakes), coffee machine, toaster and many cooking utensils. There is an ample supply of sauces, herbs and spices, as well as microwave popcorns, pancake mix, quick oats, etc. There is a washing machine and a dryer inside the house. For rainy days, there are board games, guidebooks, novels and playing games as well. There is a gas grill outside and an open pit for wood fire if one desires. The location is exceptional secure and secluded. Internet access is available at no cost - perfect for checking the weather in the park before wandering over there. The owner even offer a bear spray too.

We had an absolutely wonderful time there and will definitely consider returning to the cabin if we visit the area again. Dave, the owner, is only a cell phone call away, and he was exceptionally helpful.
