The house is very clean and very well-kept. The beds were extremely comfortable. The bathrooms were great, especially the large one upstairs. We loved everything about this house, especially the outdoor sitting area off the dinning room. We would definitely stay there again.

Very impressed with the house! Beautiful mountain view but still close to downtown. The house had plenty of space, was clean, and had everything we needed :)
This was great for two families! Location is perfect, we hiked the Pisgah trail to the peak, we rafted on the Nantahala, spent a day at the Asheville adventure center and shopping in Asheville, and one day at the National Park. It was really perfect for us.
This was a great set up for what we needed. Loved the cute charm. Gorgeous property. Roy even called to check on us - Thank you!

We are so happy that Gretchen and her group had a wonderful stay at Fletcher House. Hope they think of us in the future when they come to Western North Carolina.

We loved this spot to connect in advance of my daughter’s wedding. It is charmingly vintage, like visiting grandma’s house. We loved the porch, the view and the area. So convenient to the Asheville Airport. Communication was exceptional, and one small issue was resolved immediately. Very well-stocked kitchen and home. Lots of bedding options, with the sleeping porch a popular choice. We had a blast. It’s obvious the family loves, cares for and uses this house, while sharing it with others.
This was our second stay at this property and we are simply enchanted. We spent the majority of our days and evenings on the patio, taking in the beautiful mountain views, playing with our pups, and unplugging. The house itself is comfortable and well-equipped. If you are looking for a home away from home, this is it.
We will be back!

It was quite enjoyable to get out of our hometown for the weekend. It was a mountain house so there were some bugs/spiders but we smooshed them and moved on. I would suggest they add a truck or suv is suggested to have to drive up to the house.
It felt so much like coming to visit a long lost relative. There was planty of rooom to sleep. The kids loved the bedroom to themselves. The location is nice and private. We enjoyed sipping coffee while watcing the sun rise. Wild turkeys rome free and the location was in the middle of everything... just 6 short miles for the Blueridge Parkway.
If it weren't for the lack of AC I'd have given the place a 5 stars.
WE loved it here! Thank you!

Cozy, but not luxurious
We had a wonderful time during our stay. The fireplace was very cozy downstairs. Enjoyed the nice outdoor furniture, view and fresh air. Our dogs enjoyed a little bit of space to run around the property without neighbors in sight. The home is very old, though furniture is decent. Had to put the sheets on our beds when we arrived late at night. The upstairs of the house is very cold without heat (definitely not as cozy as downstairs). All appliances worked well in the kitchen. We had great company, so a great time. However, the house could really use some updating.

Rachel, thanks for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay even if our home wasn't quite what your group was looking for. We hope all potential guests will read through our very thorough listing with many details about the house and take a moment to view the photos as they are deciding to book with us. Thanks again for visiting!
Clean, comforting home with all the amenities you’ll need. This older country home sits on a steep piece of land with homes at a distance above and below. The home is plenty large for an adult family of five and a dog and would accommodate many more. The upstairs porch was too cold for any of us to stay on, so we used the two bedrooms downstairs and bedroom 3 right above the stairs. Plenty of bathrooms and space to relax and cook. The basement has many yard games and ping pong. We brought our dog and kept her on the leash due to the steep dropoffs in the back yard. The yard is plenty large enough so I’m sure she would have been fine. :). All beds had fresh sheets and towels for each guest. Roy called to ensure everything was great the next morning and it was. We did have to drive about 30 minutes everywhere we wanted to go, but the views are nice so it made for a nice drive. For a peaceful, secluded time with family or friends this is the perfect place. We’d stay again!
The house was cozy and had a lot of space! The yard toys were a blast. The property is close to hiking, dining, shopping, and the parkway.
Check In was easy. The view in the morning was breath taking. I highly recommend.
The house was so easy to find (always a plus) as it was minutes from lots of activity BUT incredibly private and quiet. The setting was just perfect for Fall "leaf looking" and gathering on one of the porches for family time.
What an incredible place for our family to gather! Gorgeous Mountain View’s, a lovely lawn for the dogs to play, cozy living space and ample sleeping spaces tucked in everywhere. My only complaint was too short of a stay. I could have curled up on the rocking chair on the covered patio and relaxed with a cocktail, a good book, and the incredible view for days!
The house is exactly as it is listed and we found it perfect for our trip. As an added bonus, much of the home had elements that were similar to those of my grandparents which just made the trip more enjoyable.
This house is spacious and works well for multiple families to get together. We had a great time! The house is old and not updated, and the upstairs is cold in the winter. But it is clean and in working order, and the property and the view are just gorgeous. Great for a quiet budget getaway.
This turned out to be a great place for our family Thanksgiving trip with two dogs and two small children. (Pet-friendly rentals are limited, so we appreciated Fletcher House allowing us to bring the pups!) The house is older, as indicated in the listing information, but with the exception of the downstairs shower, everything was in good working order, clean, and comfortable.
I was pleased to find such a well-stocked kitchen since we were not only making regular meals, but a Thanksgiving dinner. Rentals typically have minimal kitchen amenities, but there was a great selection of kitchen items here. The house is also well-stocked with trash bags and cleaning supplies, which was very helpful and appreciated.
The rural location meant a drive into Asheville for attractions. It took us about 20 minutes to drive to the Biltmore, but it was a relatively easy drive, as was the trip to one of the area falls off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The location and property were great for our pups and our two grandsons, ages six and two. The house is one of several at the end of a rural road and private drive, so the only traffic was residents and guests. Fletcher House has a nice big yard, which was great for the pups and our grandsons, ages six and two. We took lots of long walks and played in the yard. There's no fence around the yard, and since the house sits up on a hill, there are pretty steep drop-offs on one side of the yard. So we had to keep a close eye on the little ones, but it wasn't a problem.
In addition to a well-stocked kitchen, the host has provided lots of other helpful detailed amenities which were nice, such as flashlights (it's pretty dark out in the country!), extra jackets, games and movies for families. And our six-year-old grandson enjoyed learning to play ping pong in the basement.
I believe it may be stated in the property description, but the upstairs has no heat. That turned out to not be an issue for us, as we didn't need the upstairs bedrooms (some family who had planned to come weren't able to make it). We were there over Thanksgiving week when temps were in the 50s-60s and down in the 30s-40s at night. And it did get fairly chilly upstairs. That might be a consideration for some families. But the house did have an adequate supply of blankets and extra cover.
All in all, we had a great stay at Fletcher House and it worked well for our family and our trip! Thank you, Roy, for a great stay!
The outside patio was full of bird droppings and spiders. Every seat was covered in webs when we arrived. The yard is well kept and the kids were able to play.
The bathrooms were in need of updating and only one shower was accommodating to guests over 5' 7. The first floor bathroom did not have a functional shower during our stay.
The parlor was quaint and had charm. The lack of internet and working washer/dryer which we knew beforehand, made our stay challenging during the Covid period. We had to wash clothes in the tub and hang to dry outside. Online banking could only be done on sunny mornings. No streaming but they did have old DVD movies available. The kitchen is dated and in need of updating, my kids learned about linoleum. Overall it was functional but I wouldn't return.

Daniel, thanks for your feedback. Insects, birds, and other critters are plentiful in the mountains, and our property is in a heavily wooded area. You and I spoke at length about the internet and other amenities before you booked your 11 day stay, since we wanted to be sure the house would meet your needs. Our listing includes many written details about the house and amenities, including descriptions of the 3 bathrooms, and 25+ untouched photos including the kitchen and its epic linoleum floor. We hope all potential guests will thoroughly read through these details and view the photos before deciding if we are the right property for them. Thanks again for visiting Fletcher House!
My family and I had a great week here, a lovely house in a gorgeous, remote spot. Roy, the property manager, was very responsive and kind. Best feature of the house is the porch and wide lawn for kids to run around on. As long as you're prepared to go searching for lost kickballs down the steep slope in the woods. :)
This house was perfect for our needs. We came to Asheville for my sons wedding. There were five adults and 5 kids. Not long after our check in time, owner Roy Cole called to make sure we made and if there was anything we needed. The house had everything we needed and MORE! Thank you Roy for making our stay a delight.

Wonderful property. The view was stupendous!
We gathered together for a family Christmas, and it was all the reviews said it would be. The upstairs was cold but we figured out how to use the floor fans to help blow heat upstairs. The grandkids loved looking out all the windows for the bears which sadly never showed up.
PLENTY of games to play, giant Jenga was our favorite. They also loved to play ping pong in the basement.
We would highly recommend for anyone with a large mixed gathering of all ages.

About the host
Hosted by Roy Cole
I live in Charleston, SC where I owned a family-operated construction business for many years. My grandparents bought this property in 1960 and built a house that has since been enjoyed by our family and many others. Over the years, each generation of our family has worked together to lovingly maintain it. We delight in the opportunity to share Fletcher House with you.
Why they chose this property
Prior to building the house, Ruby and Furman Fletcher would spend summers right down the road at the historic Pisgah View Ranch. They fell in love with the area, building their own home as soon as they were able. Actively participating in the building process, their personal touches--like the Davis Creek stones found around the property--are still evident to visitors today and show the love and hard work they put into creating this special place. Today, 5 generations of our family have made wonderful memories here and we hope you will too!
What makes this property unique
We love our mountain house for it's cozy and unique mid-century feel, and have really enjoyed the modern updates we have added (like our new kitchen appliances). The house is decorated with a mix of both vintage and modern furniture. It feels very "home-y" and not like a hotel, which sets us apart from the many "investor" rentals out there. Our property is very private, and although there are other homes nearby they are not visible from our property. A truly great place to relax and "get away from it all!"
