Get place amazing location can’t wait to book again next year. Thank you Suzy
This is a lovely place great location for skiing Loveland and all resorts. We enjoyed visiting with Suzy and her husband. Perfect size for a family of four. We will be booking this place again next year. Thank you
We had such a good time at the cabin this winter. It was centrally located close to multiple ski resorts and winter activities. The owners were the kindest people we've ever met in our many VRBO stays and the home is comfortable warm and has beautiful views. We even cracked the window so we could hear the burgling stream while we slept! Absolutely wonderful and we will be back soon.
Exactly what we needed
December 30, 2017
As our sons have grown, we have had the opportunity to transition from Christmas gifts to Christmas trips. The Pennington Mountain Home was a perfect location for our family to reconnect over the holidays. The accommodations had everything we needed (included an extra toothbrush to replace the one our son forgot), for a comfortable stay, and the gift basket was a pleasant addition. The kitchen amenities we perfect for our evening meals and we enjoyed sitting around the fire after a long day of skiing. The location (~2 miles off the highway) was ideal and allowed us quick and easy access to the ski slopes. With 4 teenage boys in our group, the washer/dryer was great. We would definitely recommend the Pennington Mountain Home to others looking to get away and enjoy the mountains in a quaint community. We hope to visit again in future year.

Great location for complete relaxation!
We enjoyed our week long stay at PMH. Mike & Suzy are wonderful hosts. We met them briefly but didn’t run into them much again. The cabin is attached to their main home and we did hear steps or movements from inside the back bedroom. That was the only negative. They leave a welcome basket with goodies. They also allowed us to check in early because we had an early flight.
We had plenty of dishes for our family of six. Loveland Ski was 15-20 minutes away. We went skiing three days out of our stay. We went snow tubing in Fraser. That was fun but we were freezing so we would suggest wearing a face ski mask.
The town store in Empire had groceries and ski gear and souvenirs. We didn’t go until our last day but I wish we had visited earlier in our visit. Driving around Colorado was beautiful. This home was secluded and beautiful in many ways. I was worried about having only one bathroom but we made it work for us!
Our kids are already asking when we can go back to Colorado and we will seriously consider staying here again.
Made some great friends!!
Suzy and Mike went out of their way to make sure Christi and I had everything we needed and more!! I received her contact info early in the process and we began texting back and forth before we even arrived at the property. I had asked for early check-in if possible and she was quick to say no issue at all as there was no one staying there the night before. She even asked what type of wine we liked so that she could have a wonderful welcome basket waiting for us with the wine of our choice, some nick-naks, and even 2 coffee mugs that she had hand-painted herself! We had even requested that Suzy turn the heater on to 72 before we arrived to make sure it was nice and cozy when we arrived and she didn't miss a beat. She had the thermostat set exactly where we had asked when we arrived. The first night, the lights on the pergola didn't come on at dusk as they normally would. We texted Suzy and Mike came down right away in his pajamas to track down the power cord that had shorted out, replaced it, and wahla...we were good to go. The living room has a lovely gas fireplace that has a simple remote control on/off switch that we kept on almost the entire time we were in the unit. It was a fabulous touch. We kept in touch with Suzy throughout the stay and we even lamented the loss of her football team as they lost on Sunday. Suzy and Mike stayed out of our hair but were always there when we needed anything. As for the location, it was excellent. We did some skiing at the Loveland Ski area off of I-70 and the drive to the ski area was only about 20-25 minutes straight across I-70. The little town of Empire is only about 2 minutes off of the interstate and the home is only about 5 minutes off the interstate so it's a perfect location away from everything but still close to skiing areas. Suzy even agreed to let us check out late around 4 pm on our last day there as no one was coming in that night and our flight out of Denver wasn't until 8 pm so it was nice to relax that last day without having to rush out for our flight. The only negative, if you even want to call it that, is that the way the host home is designed, Suzy and Mike's home has a portion that is directly over the very back queen bedroom so it has the same feel of being on the bottom floor of an apartment or duplex as you can hear some footsteps as they are walking around before bedtime. Not disturbing at all unless you happen to be one of those that can't sleep with noises above u
Cozy home with extraordinary hosts. Great location! We will definitely stay again when in the area!
Suzy and Mike have made quite a haven here at Pennington Mountain Home. All the comforts of home are provided. If we came up with a need, it was met immediately. The beds were cozy, the kitchen was stocked well. We cooked at least two meals a day at the cabin for our family of 5. Having the washer and dryer was great as we flew on Spirit airlines, so we didn't pack much! We enjoyed the camp fire area and the creek. Hans, the neighbor, Is super friendly as well and provided a lot of information on the area, as well he entertained us for an evening to watch the meteor shower from his overlook! The week spent here flew by! We hiked St. Mary's Glacier (you must see this place!) And drove to the top of Mount Evans (also amazing), both within a very reasonable drive. A wonderful experience, great vacation, perfect cabin. Stay here, you won't be disappointed!
