Bear Necessity Log Cabin - Trout Pond, Waterfall

Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 1 - 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3-5)

This cabin is a two-story, authentic red cedar log cabin nestled in a cozy cove in a private community in the Smoky Mountains. It is located on one and one-half acres five miles from downtown Murphy. Easy access year round. It features hardwood floors, two bedrooms (one loft), and a spacious great room with high-vaulted ceiling, kitchen, dining, and bath.

Relax to the sounds of the running spring-fed stream and waterfall. The split-level redwood deck overlooks the trout pond. Also within a very short walking distance to the Nottely River and another community lake for picnicing, swimming, and fishing. There is also a large lot across the street from the cabin that has direct, personal access to the Nottley River with a private deck, and stairs down to the Nottley River.

I think the cabin could of been a lot cleaner. The picnic table was very moldy out by the fire pit.

The furniture is not comfortable at all. Also the bed especially in the loft very uncomfortable. Need more or better pillows. Also a lot of cleaning needs to be done. Dust and dead bugs on window sills. Bridge extremely slippery and picnic table very moldy!

Owner's Response: We are very sorry for your uncomfortable 2 night stay. Due to the very very wet and rainy weather we have had this winter ( your time at the cabin was no exception 4.5 " of rain in 2 days) things have not been able to dry out causing the bridge and table to become slippery and moldy. As for the other items pointed out we will check and address them. Again sorry for your uncomfortable stay .

The cabin was clean and a great price. About 15 minutes from casino. The pond has a lot of grass growing up, but if you want to fish across the road through the vacated lot is the river which is very nice. I would recommend this cabin

Very enjoyable stay!

I don't think this cabin could have been much better. The location is private and relaxing, but it is not far from town (Murphy, about 7 miles). We were only minutes away from relatives in both NC and GA. The cabin was just the right size and had all the essentials. The stream and pond and the nearby river were pleasant surroundings and the neighbors were friendly but not intrusive. We will be returning to the area soon and will try to stay here again if it is available.

Great communication with the owner and easy check in and check out.

We had a great time at this cabin. It was very clean and in a very nice community. My only complaints would be that all the porch bulbs were blown and even though there were three grills on the property 2 were filled with active wasp nests. The beds were comfortable (loft bed is very firm but I liked it), the towels were clean and soft, and the porches were a great place to relax. There were two Great Danes and a puppy that visited us every day from the house up the road and they were a lot of fun to play in the yard with. Thank you for a great weekend.
