Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 1.5 acres, 300' of oceanfront with a waterfall

This great vacation home was custom built in 2016 is ready for your Vacation to Camden.

The house is roughly 2,300 square feet with two large covered porches adding an additional 500 square feet of space. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and one first floor bedroom.

The Master Bedroom has a King bed with a fantastic view of the water. It has a private bath with a double vanity, a large shower and a cast iron soaking tub.

The 2nd upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and shares the hall bath. The hall bath has a double vanity and a shower / tub.

The 3rd upstairs bedroom is perfect for the kids. It has a 3 level bunk bed and a pull out bed so it can accommodate 4 kids. They will be fighting over what level of the bunk is theirs :-)

The downstairs bedroom is spacious with a queen bed, a desk and plenty of light with 4 large windows.

We have blended a modern open floor plan with the period finishes you would expect from a 1920's cottage. Hardwood Maple floors throughout, tastefully done tile in the kitchen & bathrooms. Granite counters and high end cabinetry, chef kitchen with 36" dual fuel range, large old fashion baseboards, large old fashion door & window trim, high ceilings with crown molding, large windows with views of the outdoors and the ocean.

The property has plenty of space to explore. It is nicely wooded and has been left natural with several maintained pathways to explore the property. It sits up about 35' above the beach and the stream running down the south side of the property actually has a 10' waterfall as it makes it's way down o the beach.

This home and property is a quiet relaxing getaway.

About Nick Napoleon

Our family lives in the historic Avondale section of Jacksonville, FL. Our first home was a classic 1926 cottage bungalow. The design of our coastal Maine retreat was inspired by our first house. Blending many classic elements with modern amenities and an open floor plan that is great for family gatherings.

We love to travel and have coordinated a number of VRBO's over the years for our stays. We have even coordinated a successful home exchange with our family beach condo in Amelia Island, FL. We can assure you that our Maine Vacation home will be well appointed, comfortable, relaxing, and you will have everything you need to have a wonderful stay.

Nick Napoleon purchased this house in 2015

Why Nick Napoleon chose Camden

Our first trip to Camden was a family road trip up the coast with a final destination being Acadia National Park. One of our stops was in Camden where we tent camped in Camden Hills State Park for 2 nights. We fell in love with all that Camden and the surrounding area had to offer. We returned several years later. On our 2nd trip we rented two different homes each for a week and left saying we needed to get a place of our own. Camden was the perfect getaway for our family. After a few years of searching and a few more trips to Camden we found the perfect property.

The property is situated 3 miles North of Camden and is almost exactly 1/2 way between Camden & Lincolnville. It is a quite section of town about a 5 minute drive North of the Downtown.

Really lovely new Camden property

  • 5 of 5

This property is a beautiful new home. We found every room to be really well thought out and well appointed. The kitchen in particular is well stocked with everything you might need during your stay and served as a nice gathering point for our group in the morning over coffee. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms were all fantastic - particularly the master bedroom one. We were a group of 4 so we each got to enjoy our own room and bath (1 couple and two single people). While we didn't use the bunk room we all agreed it was one of the cutest rooms we have ever seen. The den was very comfortable and we tended to use that a lot. The back porch is very private and people would go out there to work or read. I actually did yoga on the deck every morning because it was so peaceful and I could see the water while I was practicing. Also really nice for watching the sunrise come up over the water. Having kayaks on the beach was very handy and we went out a few times along the coastline. The location itself was perfect for us because we were going back and forth between Camden and Lincolnville a lot - probably a 5 or 10 minute ride at most to each. It is also right by Camden State Park and we shot over there a few times for a hike. This was our 5th year going up to Camden and the first time we rented a house because we wanted to stay a bit longer. We found the renting option worked out better for us as it gave us a bit more freedom during the day. There is no question that if we are back in the area next year we would plan on staying at this property again. It was very easy to communicate with the owner and he was also quick to respond to our questions and concerns. They were also very helpful with providing a lot of information on the workings of the house. It was a real pleasure to be able to share in their lovely home.

What a wonderful week!!

  • 5 of 5

We had ten family members stay (5 kids, ages 8-15, and 5 adults) - we thoroughly enjoyed the house and the area. For our big group, we especially enjoyed how spacious everything felt - plenty of space to enjoy each other without having to be in exactly the same space, since several living areas were open to each other. It was great to be together without being on top of each other. My favorite was the back porch - at any time of day!! We also loved the location, easy to do things close, plenty of adventures within an hour or two, or easy to enjoy the house itself. We cooked and used the grill and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. House was gorgeous! Loved the fire pit. Loved the bay!

Excellent place to vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 10 including 4 grandchildren from the ages of 5 to 19 and my wife & I (age 70), stayed for a week.

We all enjoyed the stay very much. The fire pit is a very nice touch and there was even plenty of wood. The kitchen is well equipped with all stainless steel appliances and plenty of accessories and silverware. We enjoyed eating on the deck and walking down to the ocean.

There is more than ample convenient parking and the house is situated so that you never know you have neighbors. The bedrooms are very comfortable and everything including the wifi works as advertised. There is still a felling of newness to the entire property. If there is anything I could suggest, it would be to thin just a few of the saplings in one small area for a more open view of the ocean from the deck.

Camden is within a couple of miles and has everything you need including restaurants and a very good new grocery just on the opposite edge of town. The state park is well worth the visit and has some great views of the area and some really good hikes. Old Granite Fort (Fort Knox) and the adjacent bridge are amazing. I am surprised the fort isn't advertised as a major tourist attraction by the state . Take a half a day and visit both. A brief visit to Acadia is also easy to do in one day.

YOU CAN'T GO WRONG VACATIONING HERE!!!

Owner's Response: So glad you and the family enjoyed our home. It sounds like you really got out and about as well. There is so much to see and do in the area and we have not been to the Fort so will have to visit that next time we are up. Thanks for the advice on thinning out the small trees. We wanted to keep it as natural as possible but do agree a little thinning from a view perspective is in order and we will tackle that this fall. Thanks for staying and we hope to have you and the family again some time soon. Sincerely, Nick

Stunning Oceanfront Rental on the Beautiful Coast of Maine!

  • 5 of 5

This is an absolutely gorgeous, new oceanfront home on the coast of Maine in a perfect location! This very spacious home is extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated! The bedrooms are large and all have very comfortable beds. The kitchen is magnificent and very well stocked with everything you would need. Actually, it was such a pleasure to cook in, that we ate many more meals at the house than we ever anticipated! We especially loved the gas stove with 6 burners! The back porch has a beautiful view of the ocean and a large table for meals. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular from the porch as well as from the inside of the house. This home is a few miles from the very quaint town of Camden. it is a great location for day trips to many areas like Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. This peaceful and quiet home has a fire pit area to enjoy in the backyard. We especially enjoyed this on cool Autumn nights! The owner of this wonderful home is very accommodating and easy to reach. He has truly thought of everything!! We ( 6 adults) highly recommend this home for an amazing vacation!!

Camden Maine is a fantastic place to visit.

Some of our favorite things about the Camden area are below:

1. Camden is where the mountains meet the sea. Just to the West and South of our home is Camden Hills State Park. The center of the park, 1400' above Camden, is Mt Megunticook. Within the park you can hike from the beach to the to top in just a few hours w/ spectacular views of wildlife and the bay/ocean all along the way. Mt. Battie is a favorite point in the park for many. It has spectacular views of the Camden Harbor and it can be accessed via car for those who are not looking for a hiking adventure. Camden Hills State Park is a fantastic park with miles and miles of trails and amenities. For more info the park Webpage is -

http://www.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/doc/parksearch/details.pl?park_id=14

2. Food - Camden and the surrounding towns offer some exceptional dining options. From deli's, coffee shops and bakeries to a wide variety of fine dining options. And we can't forget to mention Lobster. We consider Downtown Camden the culinary hub with the widest variety and some really great places to enjoy a relaxing meal....There are some great restaurants in Rockport, Lincolnville, and other surrounding towns as well. Cellar Door Winery is just a few miles away and while you wouldn't think Maine & wine it is actually a fun place to visit and they are making some good wine too. Maine is also known for it's beer and Camden is home to Rock Harbor Pub & Brewery & Sea Dog Brewery. Many other restaurants feature some of the states best craft beers. There are some nice grocery options, several butchers, craft cheese and of course the lobster and seafood options are plentiful.

3. The Harbor - Camden Harbor is a very active harbor with many recreational boaters calling it home for the summer. The harbor offers a variety of fun activities on or around the water - Kayaking rentals / tours, a visit to Curtis Island & Lighthouse, Lobster boat excursions and Schooner tours of the bay are available, Laite Beach is great for a picnic or a refreshing swim, summer sail camp at the Camden Yacht Club is a great option for the kids or you can just relax on the library lawn watching the kids run around and the boats coming in and out of the harbor.

4. Lake Megunticook - this is a good size lake just west of Camden. The water runs 5-10 degrees warmer than the ocean so it makes for a nice day of swimming, kayaking, canoeing or paddleboarding. Just across the street from the public beach there is a nice hike up to Maiden Cliff on the SE side of Camden Hills State Park. After a nice hike you can cool off with a swim in the lake. A small river runs from the lake through the center of town with a cool waterfall that dumps into the harbor. The kids will love climbing around it at low tide.

5. Camden Snowbowl - This is a city park just outside of Camden. It is not your fancy St. Moritz ski resort but it has some really nice east coast skiing / snowboarding and it is the only ski mountain on the east coast that you can see the ocean while skiing down the mountain. They have some back country when conditions allow, they have around 20 runs, 3 lifts and an acrobatic area. Very affordable winter family fun. They also have some sledding, cross country, snow shoeing and a toboggan chute (home to the US National Toboggan Championships each February). Check out the website - https://www.camdensnowbowl.com/

6. Golf - There are plenty of Great golf courses around. Megunticook Golf Club (Private) and Goose River are the two closest in town. Just South toward Rockland is the Samoset Resort with a fantastic course on the water.

Above is just a taste of what Camden and the surrounding areas have to offer. Below is a link to a good site that reviews much more of what the area has to offer. http://www.camdenmainevacation.com/index.php
