Once you drive through the stone pillars at the gated entrance, you know you've arrived at a very special place. With two barns on the left and the main home at the end of the circular driveway, Thornhill Farm is truly one of a kind. The views across the fields with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance are spectacular. Set on over 60 acres there is a trail to the top of the mountain, a pond to fish in and a porch to rock on.
You'll feel right at home when you see the rocking chairs on the front porch. The door leads into the main great room that has a stone fireplace reaching to the vaulted ceiling. There is a sitting area and pool table for gaming. A few steps up and you enter the living room paneled with original pine. The warmth in this room is inviting. For indoor dining you'll find a dining area with a table that can seat 8 - 10 comfortably. The kitchen cupboard is filled with English stoneware and linens for your use in serving and dining.
There is an en-suite master bedroom and a guest bedroom and bath on the first floor. Upstairs there is an en-suite bedroom and bath and an additional twin bedroom. (Better photos to be added soon.)
The home sleeps 8 comfortably. You'll find a country kitchen on the first floor with a microwave and Kurig coffee maker. Out of the front door is a stone patio for cocktailing and dining and watching the sunset over the mountains. Off of the great room is a wrap-around porch for dining or sitting in the rocking chairs. Here you'll enjoy the views of the farm across the fields to the pond and barns beyond.

About Holly Hurd
My brothers and I grew up in this house and on this farm. It is a lovely spot to enjoy the views, hike the mountain and take in the area. We often have family reunions at the farm and thought it would be wonderful to share the experience with other families. The property lends itself to events such as weddings, charity functions, large BBQs and candlelit porch dinners. Please reach out to talk about how you can make Thornhill Farm work for your next gathering. We have access to caterers and service providers to make your event special.
Holly Hurd purchased this Farmhouse in 1973
Why Holly Hurd chose Laurel Park
Downtown Hendersonville, Biltmore and Asheville North Carolina all offer amazing restaurants, art galleries, museums and shopping. The Pisgah National Forest is just 25 minutes away offering hiking, fishing, camping and site seeing. When you stay at Thornhill Farm you truly feel like you are in the country. The home is surrounded by open fields with very few other homes in sight. Having coffee on the porch in the morning is a favorite of visitors. Ending the day on the patio or the hanging swing as the sun sets - there is nothing better.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The house comfortably sleeps 8 - 10 but has a large great room for gatherings. The outdoor space is perfect for entertaining or relaxing. There is a trail that is great for hikers that leads to the top of the mountain behind the house. We'll do everything we can to make your stay a wonderful experience.

Peaceful, lovely setting
This farmhouse turned out to be a delightful place to stay with plenty of room for kids to run and adults to wander about. The kids love the old farm bell! The kitchen and bathrooms are well-equipped and there was plenty of light for us to read by - which rarely happens. On entering, you first go through the pool room which, on first impression smelled a little musty. However the rest of the House was fine and this may be unavoidable in an older home where it is often humid.
My extended family - 3 generations - loved our stay at the farm house.
The farm house was spacious and comfortable and provided lots of space for all 9 of us. The location is fabulous and the peace and quiet of the farm is wonderful.
Lovely views, comfortable beds, charming home.
Stayed at Thornhill Farm and it was lovely. Had my coffee in a rocking chair on the porch watching the sun burn off the fog. The sunset on the first night was stunning. The perfect spot for a family gathering.
Great family getaway....
Although the reason for our stay was a memorial service for a close relative, the farm brought our family a touch of brightness. It was just what we needed. My daughter & son-in-law and their three small children were as happy as ever to have a safe cull-de-sac where their girls could safely run and play not the mention the winding sidewalk where they could draw with chalk and the swings and expansive porch with rockers. The many bedrooms accommodated us all. The house itself is quite spacious so we could all stretch out and not collide with each other. The kitchen was more than amply stocked with all the necessities. The location was five minutes from where we needed to be for the service and in close proximity to places where the kids could have fun as well. We had good communication with Holly the host/manager and her father was there to welcome the first arrivals. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back again if the opportuity arose.
Western North Carolina is a wonderful destination
