This is the first time a VRBO was better than the description and pictures. Everything was perfect. Immaculately clean, fresh flowers in every room, the ocean just steps away, gorgeous sunsets every night, turtles and dolphins every day!

My wife and I were blessed to be able spend 19 nights at this beautiful cottage directly on the ocean. The property is exactly what was depicted online. The lay out of this beautifully decorated home provides breathtaking views from every room. The kitchen and baths are well stocked with just about everything you will need, and the bed was very comfortable. The backyard is directly on the ocean with a lava sea wall separating you from the surf and abundant turtles that frollick in the waves every day. The sunsets are everything and more you can imagine of the Islands. The outdoor shower is great for getting all the sand off after a day at the beach, and the Weber grill made it very enjoyable to prepare meals for those nights in. The property also has beach chairs and an umbrella to take on your day trips around the island. Pleasant walks and runs can be had by going in either direction out of the front door, and Waimea Canyon State Park is less than an hour drive. Truly a spectacular and spiritual experience if you are so inclined. I really can't think of any negatives - it is truly exceptional. Lastly, the management company, Alekona Kaui is very knowledgeable, attentive and responsive to any needs or concerns you might have. We had a couple minor maintenance events and the folks at Alekona were there within 30 minutes each time. This property is Lani in Koloa!

Perfect location!

We had such an amazing stay at this house. It is absolutely gorgeous and the location is truly perfect. It's very clean and you have everything you need. You have a view of the ocean from every room in the house. The backyard was a relaxing space to have coffee/cocktails and watch the sunset. Lots of turtles in this area too! We loved being so close to Poipu beach and we appreciated the free, easy parking. The beach offered waves for boogie boarding, a protected spot for young children, great snorkeling and down further there were bigger waves for surfers. We had a fantastic show of whales breaching right in front of the beach and also a young monk seal who visited us on the beach. We will definitely be back and can't wait to stay in this house again!

The turtle house - absolutely enchanting

We stayed in this house for 8 nights during the end of Oct/early November. The house is situated on the water but has no real beach. The rocks that line the beach were safe to venture out onto during low tide and the back of the house has a rock wall with steps the other side. I only saw one other home within about 10 homes in the immediate vicinity that had this feature. We saw green sea turtles each day rolling and frolicking in the waves. It was amazing and beautiful. The home itself is clean but aging. The bed wasn’t as nice as I would have liked but the AC made the stay very comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with excellent tools and kitchenware (All Clad, Vitamix, etc) so if you cook you will be happy here. The decor and furniture is inviting and clever. There are three outdoor lanai, one which is covered and other partially. The location of this house is the most impressive feature, next to the turtles, as it is directly between Poipu beach and the Allerton Gardens. Spouting horn is within walking distance and so is the Beach House restaurant. Finally, the management staff were very friendly and easy to work with. We enjoyed staying there and would do so again.

Beautiful waterfront property

We enjoyed a very relaxing stay at this beautiful cottage. We spent every night of our trip sitting in the backyard enjoying the sound of the crashing waves and the serene setting. The property manager was very responsive when multiple maintenance issues arose during our stay. We look forward to visiting again the next time to travel to Kauai.

We cannot say enough good things about this property - it is a little piece of paradise. The photos and description are very accurate, the location is convenient and we saw tons of sea turtles every day from the yard, porches, the bedroom, the kitchen...you can see the ocean from every room in the house. We were sad to leave!

Can't imagine a more beautiful location

Having stayed at various properties around the islands over the years, you will be hard-pressed to find a better location and personally intimate property than the Lani Kai. The views are amazing from every angle on the property and in the cottage itself. We had everything we needed to enjoy a sunset dinner each night on the deck. All along the way, from booking to our final departure, our hosts were highly communicative and responsive. We loved it!

Slice of Heaven

I've stayed in a ton of VRBO's & the like all around the world, and I'm hard-pressed to remember one better than this gem. The pictures are certainly appealing, and I would have been thrilled if reality merely matched the photos, but it is impossible to portray the beauty of this piece of property & perfection of the house that adorns it in photographs. As many have mentioned, there are 6-10 majestic sea turtles hanging out in the surf a few yards from your back door at all times. You can spend hours outside (in one of MANY seating options) just watching the waves and turtles either out in the sun or in the shade of the beautiful trees. The house has it's own 'personal jetti' with steps down to the rocks to get closer to the turtles & small tide-pools. I'd originally booked my stay at the Westin in Princeville, but after a few days of disappointment, I found this paradise which provided everything I was lacking & more. For me (esp as a solo-traveler), what this house delivered in spades was serenity & PRIVACY -- it is incredible how much oceanfront space this property has & lush vegetation on either side truly makes it feel all your own to enjoy as you wish. The interior of the house is perfectly decorated to fit the local style in a very upscale manner -- I had to laugh at times, given that I was by myself, just at the vast number of incredible sitting/lounging options for reading/reflecting/napping, ALL with panoramic windows displaying absolutley idyllic scenery. The house is incredibly well-stocked with any kitchen/cooking utensil you might need, a nice barbeque grille outside, hundreds of books to read ranging from 'guilty pleasure' page turners from Baldacci & plenty of the more literary variety -- not that you'll be spending too many daylight hours inside, but each bedroom & living room is adorned with a new flat-screen TV, mounted on a swivel. The location was ideal for me -- a short walk to great nearby beaches, not far from Poipu, and a great access point to all the adventures in Waimea/Napali Coast (Highly recommend anyone do a Napali Coast boat tour) Jessica made check-in & check-out more seamless than if it were my own home (oh, to dream...). She was extremely helpful in answering any questions I had promptly throughout, but honestly, you won't need much, the house is 100% turnkey. As another mentioned -- during COVID, know that you will need to bring things like salt/pepper/oil Already planning my return!

Amazing Location

The location was amazing, with the main back porch sitting about 10 yards from the rock wall, then the waves splash about 20-30 yards further away. Lots of honu in the water that we watched daily (counted 5-7 out there every day). We enjoyed the local birds who visited through the day, then the parade of parakeets who migrated each morning and evening by the thousands (about 10 minutes before sunrise and 10 minutes before sunset). Quite a site to behold! Also really enjoyed the free-roaming chickens who visited from time to time. It is not attached to the other house next door (we were unsure with the pictures). Has 3 porches, the easternmost of which avoids any precip when it rains. Came with a washer/ dryer which we were not expecting (nice bonus), air conditioners in the bedrooms and main living area (much needed), and a coffee maker (essential). We were able to cook our meals in-house and had everything needed for cooking, storage. We did not use the picnic table or BBQ grill, but they were a nice touch. We really could not ask for anything more, and look forward to visiting again in the future, as this was the most peaceful rental we've ever had!

Better than we could have imagined!

We looked at several properties before booking what we have dubbed “turtle house.” Yes, as the other reviewers say, you do see sea turtles each day surfing the waves RIGHT in front of the house. A flock of parakeets fly by each night just before dusk. And during the right time of year, you can see whales on the horizon. It is a wildlife lover’s paradise. The home itself is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Everything, from the beds to the sofa, are supremely comfortable. Our favorite spots were the seating nooks in the windows in the living room and master bedroom- it’s the perfect place to curl up and read a book or watch the waves. The bathtub with views of the ocean was heavenly. We ate every meal alfresco on the beautiful patio. The only downside is there is the occasional bit of car noise from the road behind the house, but it’s really only noticeable at night from the second bedroom, which is closest to the road. The kitchen is fully stocked, but if you’re planning to cook, be prepared to buy staples like olive oil or salt and pepper, as the place is cleaned totally before each new visitor. The location of this home is perfect. A very easy 5 minute drive to Poipu, but we were happy staying even more local in Koloa. One of the best restaurants on the island, the Beach House, is walking distance. And some of the best snorkeling on the island is in the cove right below the Beach House. If you head out of the house the other direction, you’re a 7 minute walk from the tropical botanic gardens and sprouting horn park. If you haven’t been to Kauai before and are concerned about weather, the sunny south shore, where this home is located, is the place to stay. Our forecast said rain all week and we only had half of a rainy morning. We took day trips to the north and east, where the weather is much more variable, and were happy to have this as our sunny hub. Long story short, 10/10 would recommend. Can’t imagine staying anywhere else on our next visit.

Magnificent!!!

The key is under the mat, and enjoy. That what I like. First second it felt like home. Thanks so much to the owner, who let us live in their magnificent house for ten days. You got everything you need. I had to email the manager once for the gaz and two hours after it was taking care of. Be aware you will be sleeping on a cloud. The beds are so comfy. Thank you so so much.

Paradise!

Location, location, location. You can’t beat the location of this house. The ocean is literally your backyard...my son was mesmerized by the waves, we saw dolphins, crabs, and turtles, and were utterly relaxed with the sounds of the waves. The house itself is quaint with all the necessary amenities to make it feel like home. Staying at the house also gives you access to the athletic club, which has a great pool with sandy wading area for the little ones and a slide for the big boys and girls (and adults!). The house is walking distant to Spouting Horn and the main shopping/eating spots. My kids are already asking when we can go back!

Simply Amazing!

We had an absolutely wonderful time in this beautiful home. The fact that it is right on the ocean gave us so much happiness! We had the windows open to hear the waves all night long! Just lovely! We enjoyed having breakfast on the deck, and so loved seeing the turtles play in the surf at all hours! The home is cozy and warm, and fit all of our family perfectly. Michael was such a great help when we needed extra beach towels. This was a lovely place to call home as we explored the southern/western half of KAUAI. We can't wait to come back!
